Vladimir Propp analyzed over 100 folk and fairy tales and identified common character types and their narrative functions. He found that most tales included characters like the hero, villain, princess, dispatcher, donor, and helper. Propp's theory influenced filmmaking by providing a structure for successful narratives. The document then provides examples of how Propp's character types apply to the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets film and the original story "Memories Collide".
Harry Potter and the Seven Deathly Hallows is a text on which we have to make a presentation in group. In this presentation one can get the idea of the basic of Harry Potter series and we have also found 10 articles on it.
This PowerPoint is part of my A2 Media Studies coursework. It briefly explains narrative theory, before going on to talk about different narrative theorists, and how their theories are relevant to my work.
Oscar Wilde, Victorian Period, The Importance of Being EarnestMustafa ÖNDER
Here is a presentation about 'Oscar WILDE, Victorian Period and The Important of Being Earnest'. We did it for our Theatre Lesson at University. I hope you like it and will be useful for everyone.
The way plays are written is a special style of writing called dramatic structure.
This style is different from the way a short story, novel, or poem is written.
In a play, the talk, or conversation between two or more characters is called dialogue.
Dialogue is not set in quotation marks. Instead, the character’s name appears before the spoken part.
Plays are made up entirely of dialogue and stage directions, additional information provided by the playwright or author.

This is a quick slide share about the character & narrative theorists and how they are present within horror films. This is research for my short horror film.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. What did Propp do?
• Vladimir Propp is a Russian critic that has analysed over 100 fairy and folk
tales in regards to character types that help to drive the narrative and
identified common themes within them. Forming a common structure
between the character types and the character functions. These narrative
functions found are spread between the main characters involved within the
narrative.
• His theory has influenced upon many filmmakers to writing and producing
successful narratives.
3. Character Role: Character Function:
The Hero is on a quest, to which the plot is driven by the actions and
choices of the hero, who is known as the protagonist.
The Villain works on opposition to the hero and who struggles with the
hero, and the villain is known as the antagonist.
The Princess is what/who the quest is for, and often recognises and
marries the hero and/or punishes the villain
The Dispatcher sends the hero on the quest.
The Donor gives the hero something to help them on the quest.
The Helper assists them on the quest.
The Father rewards the hero.
The False Hero appears to be helping the hero but is later unmasked as a
fraud, as they claim to be the hero, often reacting like the
hero.
4. ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’
When relating Propp’s theory to this film:
Character Role: Character Function:
The Hero Harry Potter, who is on the quest to defeat Lord Voldemort.
The Villain Lord Voldemort works opposite to Harry and is trying to kill him to regain back his lost power.
The Princess Ginny Weasley is the person Harry (the hero) goes to save from the villain, and in future films they
become romantically connected.
The Dispatcher Moaning Myrtle, helps show the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets, which then sends the
Harry on the quest.
The Donor the Phoenix provides the sorting hat in Harry Potter need of it when fighting Tom Riddle (Lord
Voldemort), which provides a sword, therefore giving Harry something to help him on his
quest.
The Helper Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger assists Harry on his quests.
The Father Dumbledore rewards Harry, even though he is not the father, he is looked up to as a father figure.
The False Hero Professor Gilderoy Lockhart works at the school appearing to be helping Harry, but is later
unmasked as a fraud, as he is helping Voldemort. Therefore, he thinks that he is the hero for his
honourable gesture to the evil side.
5. ‘Memories Collide’
When relating Propp’s theory to my film:
Character Role: Character Function:
The Hero Oakley Smith, who is on the quest to defeat the Prime Minister.
The Villain The British Prime Minister who works opposite to Oakley and is thirsty for power, killing British
citizens to cause an uprising world wide as she will present the killings to be foreign terrorist attacks.
The Princess Emma Goodhall is the person who Oakley helps to save, by analysing that she would be the next
person to be killed by the government, and by saving her makes them become romantically connected.
The Dispatcher Oakley’s own perception around his work place resulted in him discovering major corruption from
the constant attacks, sending himself on his quest to defeat the British government.
The Donor An old friend of Oakley’s called Harry Barnwell, has recently been known to be a common crime
associate, but he helps Oakley by providing him with guns from the black market to help him on his
quest.
The Helper Emma Goodhall helps Oakley on his quest after he saves her life.
The Father Emma Goodhall’s father thanks Oakley for saving his daughter.
The False Hero The Prime Ministers assistant, works for the Prime Minister is often perceives herself to help Oakley,
but is then later unmasked as being involved within the Prime Minister’s plan.
