Over 3700 participants have been enrolled using this platform. A survey found that over 95% of users felt the platform was mostly or always successful. FFPE samples are valuable for biomarker studies but RNA extracted from them is fragmented and damaged. The document presents a new method called RT2 FFPE PreAMP technology that combines improved RNA extraction and reverse transcription with a preamplification step to enhance detection of genes from FFPE samples in real-time PCR analysis. It allows for multi-gene expression profiling from archived clinical samples. Testing showed the method improved detection of genes and increased the positive call rate to 100% compared to standard methods.

GOOD LABORATORY PRACTICES
Good laboratory practices (GLP) were established in the 1970s after fraudulent data was submitted to the FDA from toxicology laboratories. The key case involved Industrial Bio-Test Laboratories, which falsified safety tests. This led the FDA to create GLP regulations in 1978 to ensure non-clinical study data quality and integrity. The OECD later established universal GLP principles in 1981 to facilitate international acceptance of study data. GLP provides standards for test facility organization and quality management, facilities, test system handling, study conduct, reporting, and record keeping to ensure study data accurately represent results. India has established a National GLP Compliance Monitoring Authority to oversee adherence to GLP standards by domestic testing facilities.

The EPGP informatics platform was developed to support a large collaborative study collecting phenotypic and genetic data on epilepsy patients. It includes applications for participant tracking, electronic data collection, data management, pedigree charting, specimen tracking, and EEG/MRI review. Over 3700 participants have been enrolled using this platform. A survey found that over 95% of users felt the platform was mostly or always successful. The platform allows efficient, reliable collection of data from multiple sites for large-scale genetic research studies of epilepsy.

This document discusses techniques for analyzing gene expression in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples using real-time PCR. FFPE samples are valuable for biomarker studies but RNA extracted from them is fragmented and damaged. The document presents a new method called RT2 FFPE PreAMP technology that combines improved RNA extraction and reverse transcription with a preamplification step to enhance detection of genes from FFPE samples in real-time PCR analysis. It allows for multi-gene expression profiling from archived clinical samples. Testing showed the method improved detection of genes and increased the positive call rate to 100% compared to standard methods.

Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
