Introduction
A computer generated world with which
user can interact is calledVirtual
Environment.
This interaction can vary from looking
around to interactively modifying the world.
Computer system is used to create an
artificial world.

VRConcepts
The concepts behind virtual reality are based
upon theories about:
 A log held human desire to escape the
boundaries of the “real world “ by embracing
cyberspace.
 Once there we can interact with this virtual
environment in a more naturalistic manner
which will generate new forms of human-
machine interaction (HMI)
VR History &
Events
 1860s :Virtual reality can trace its roots to the 1860s, An
example of this would be Baldassare Peruzzi's
 .
 .
 1991 : SegaVR headset for arcade games
 1995 :Virtual Boy was created by Nintendo and was
released in Japan on July 21 and in North America on
August 15.
 2007 : Google introduces StreetView.
 2013 : Nintendo files a patent for the concept of usingVR
technology to produce a more realistic 3D effect on a 2D
television.
 2014 : Facebook , Sony
 2014 : Google
Types of VR
 Immersive
 Window on world
 Tele Presence
 Mixed Reality
Immersive
(CAVE)
The ImmersiveVirtual Reality System
completely involve the users personal
viewpoint in the virtual world
Cave AutomaticVirtual Environment
WoW
(Window on world)
Some systems uses conventional computer
monitor to display visual world.This
sometimes called DesktopVirtual reality or
Window on World (WoW)
Telepresence
This is a technology which links the remote
sensors with the senses of human operator
in real world.
AVATAR
Mixed
Merging theTelepresence andVirtual reality
systems gives the mixed virtual reality or
seamless simulation.
In this type of virtual reality user can see,
Hear virtual world and can operate that
world by usingTelepresence.
VR Hardware
There are multiple specialized types of
Hardware devices that has been developed or
used for virtual reality applications.
Image Generators
Manipulation & control devices
StereoVision
HMD

HMD
(Head Mounted
Display)
 This is a helmet or face mask that holds the visual and auditory displays.
OSVR
(OpenSource
Virtual Reality)
Built from the ground up to bring the best
Virtual Reality gaming experience to the
gaming world, OSVR is the one platform where
all aspects of the industry – input devices,
games, and output – are unified, collaborating
and innovating to takeVirtual Reality gaming
into the next frontier.
Application
of VR
Many people are familiar with the term ‘Virtual
Reality ’ but are unsure about the uses of this
technology. Gaming is an obvious virtual
reality application as are virtual worlds but
there are a whole host of uses for virtual reality
– some of which are more challenging or
unusual than others.
