 Vijay Mallya took over the UB group after his
father’s (Vittal Mallya) sudden death in 1983.
 Since then, Mallya was left with the
responsibility to take up his father’s legacy
(which he did) and transformed the company

2013
 Judge’s warrant against Mallya- Paying a
bounced cheque to GMR Group.
 Mallya sold his stake in his liquor company,
United Spirits to Diageo (A British multi-national
alcoholic company) for paying off the
airline’s debts.
