- 1. Music Video concept What’s the song about (#imo)? The song is about a relationship in which is struggling to stay strong and eventually starts to crumble and fall apart. This song represents the emotions and feelings in which a couple or at least one member of the party go through during a break-up or difficult time during the end relationship. What is your video about? What is the dominant story/message/question you are trying to convey? Our video is about a young couple who are seemingly wearing thin and eventually split up with one another however there are/can be negotiated readings of the video depending on how the audience interpret it. This is done by there being a constant contrast of the couple being together and then not being together in identical shots. It also fades from colour to black and white and then back to colour again to represent a dream but at the end the girl gets an apology by text though the audience may not be certain on what the apology is for as well as if was to do with the dream or not. Is it going to illustrate, amplify or completely challenge the song’s message? It is going to both illustrate (to an extent) with the visuals almost matching the lyrics as well as having the speed of the video match the tempo of the song which allows there to be reflections of the moods and emotions. It will also amplify to a degree as it will give the song more meaning due to the variation of visuals. Any potential negotiated or oppositional readings? Depending on how the individual interprets the video there could be however it would up to them as to whether or not it makes complete sense due to the dominant reading being the relationship. What is going to make this video iconic, creative and unique? There are many aspects which will make the video creative such as the fading from colour to black and white and back again, as well as having a timelapse, a POV shot and fades of objects/people in frames to create one continuous motion. These creative aspects therefore make the video both iconic and unique yet it still appeals to our target audience.
