!
• To start with everyone loves a story - so tell them one!
• Have a ‘hero’
• A beginning
• A middle
• An end
You can start to use more complex formulas when you get more confident…
6. 2. A Smile
Top Tip!
!
Imagine you are speaking to
your best client, a family
member or someone who
already knows you’re
awesome!
!
Talk to them - and them only.
!
Relax and Enjoy It.
7. 3. Use Your Creativity
• Think what you want your
overall video to convey.
• Your story is made up of short
pieces - like a jigsaw
• Each piece should be short
and have a function - a bit like
a paragraph in a story
8. Plan on paper first
• Make a list of ideas of possible video shots
• Think of some locations and possible backgrounds (indoors
or outdoors)
• Think about the end goal for your video
• How can you use it to entertain and educate?
• What emotions do you want to stimulate?
9. 30 seconds …
Think how easily you get
bored…
If you make it to 30 seconds,
you’re doing a good job!
Anything after that had better
be VERY good.
10. 4. iPhone 5s
• The camera on this model is
awesome and as good as
many SLR cameras
• Hold your camera horizontally
when filming
• Use the front facing camera
for the best quality
• A tripod is ideal (a stack of
books gets tricky - I’ve tried)
12. Why Use A Tripod?
• To stop annoying shaking (your audience will be so grateful)
• To allow you to set up a shot if you need to
• Your stop any tables or books taking up the bottom of your shot
(it looks really amateurish!)
• To prevent you having to slump to fit in the camera!
• You look and feel like a pro! (lol)
• You can order any of these tripods on Amazon at the end of this
presentation.
13. Your Microphone
• Please, please, please make
your sound quality as good as
you can by using a mic!
• A microphone will reduce or
block out external sounds
• Audio (sound) is so important
and will set you apart from the
total beginners
• You can get your Røde clip on
Microphone for approx $60
here. (click on link)
