2. IMBKCAC: Who We Are & What We Do
The mission of “I Am My Brother’s Keeper”
(IMBKCAC) is summarized in its commitment to
the biblical ethic of providing support to those who
have been victimized, misused or experienced
negative incidence within Christian Communities.
IMBKCAC ministers to them who have been
manipulated into certain sins or otherwise taken
advantage of.
Our goal is the restoration of the believer’s
(survivor’s) faith, fellowship and communion with
Christ, the implementation of proactive measures in
order to prevent such abuse and misuse and the
restoration of the health and well being of the
Christian community in which these atrocities have
occurred.
The organization has a mission to the church calling
for solid and specific reforms in the area of how the
church deals with and handles the important issues
that pertain to the “survivor’s” well being.

The Exec Director and Founder of IMBKCAC, Supt.
Harvey Burnett is a husband of nearly 28 years, father
of 2 children, and an ordained minister of nearly 30
years. He currently serves as the pastor of the New
Bethel COGIC, Peoria, IL. a church which he also
founded. He serves COGIC in an appointed position as
the District Supt. of the T.T. Rose District in Illinois
3rd Jurisdiction COGIC (Bishop Robert R. Sanders
Chicago Heights, IL.).
Among many of his other accomplishments Pastor

is
a

trainer/facilitator (The PACE Group) and an expert in
victim's advocacy issues, a licensed insurance
professional, and a community advocate in both crime
and violence, education and student and child
mentoring.

Victim's Advocacy Presumes Guilt.
In Reality:
The Implementation of Victim's Advocacy
Is NOT An Admission of Organizational
Guilt, it is A Method of Ministry

5. IMBKCAC: What We Already Know
COGIC has paid $$$ to mitigate
sexual abuse claims, but dollars do not
satisfy all needs.
There is currently NO recovery plan in
place that focuses solely on victims,
their wellbeing, or the complete
recovery process.
Currently, neither victims nor their
families have an assigned liaison to
help them understand church process.
This facilitates negative perception.
Failure to act in favor of those who
have been victimized has untold public
perception and monetary costs that
COGIC members do not desire.
"Presiding Bishop Blake thanked Judge Perry for
his remarks regarding the church's policy in
relationship to sexual misconduct. He pointed out
that, on average, the church spends about $800,000
to settle legal matters many of which have to do
with accusations of sexual misconduct.” ~ [2009

A Leadership, Jurisdiction & Local Church Educational Plan.

separate annual IMBKCAC license fee agreement.

information, is proprietary and will only be delivered under
confidentiality agreement to executive and other personnel as
designated and directed by the Office of The Presiding Bishop
