Meeting new challenges

“Power demands of the
iPhone era served by
power transformers of
the Hula Hoop years”
The situation: AEP delivers 38,000 megawatts to 6m consumers in 11
states, but half of its transformers are over 50 years old.
 The challenge: Jeff Fleeman, director of transmission studies, needed new
insights into his infrastructure that allowed him to extend the life of these
assets and maintain or replace only when required based on each asset’s
actual condition.
 The answer: Ventyx, with ABB, is deploying Asset Health Center which
allows him to do just that.


7
“50 million customers,
58 reactors and the
world’s biggest upgrade”
The situation: EDF needed to make a dramatic and fast unplanned change
from a load factor of 75% to the US standard of 85%
 The challenge: Yves Corre, Operating Senior Vice President of Generation,
needed a partner that knew the US model and could deliver software to
enable the needed efficiencies.
 The answer: EDF chose Ventyx and is deploying its new CLM solution
which allows EDF to meet these complex challenges
