10. LABIAL REDUCTION
Use the depth cutter diamond bur across the labial surface of the tooth in
a mesial to distal direction in three areas:
- the incisal third
- the middle third
- the gingival third.

11. The depth of the cut is limited by the shank of the bur.
The bur will develop depth cuts as horizontal grooves of 0.3 mm deep,
leaving a raised strip of enamel between.

remove remaining labial enamel.
•Move the bur from the mesial to distal
direction, following the tooth curvature
from mesial to distal and from gingival to
incisal.

14. INTERPROXIMAL EXTENSION
With the round end tapered diamond bur, extend the mesial and
distal margins around the mesiobuccal and distobuccal line angles
into the interproximal contact areas.

15. INCISAL REDUCTION
Make depth cuts approximately 1 mm deep at the incisal edge, then reduce
the incisal edge to the depth cuts by moving the diamond bur
from mesial to distal.

•The lingual margin should be located away from the occlusal contacts
•The finish line of the preparation is created with round end tapered
diamond bur, which creates rounded chamfer.

and veneer fracture,
all prepared surfaces should be rounded.

18. PROVISIONAL RESTORATION - direct method
 Diagnostic impressions are made before preparing the teeth.
 Diagnostic wax-up is completed to make any corrections: shape, length,
or closing up diastema.
 A transparent plastic vacuum form is then fabricated.

 Vaseline is applied to the prepared tooth
