RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Ensure compliance to all relevant Safety, Quality and Environmental management
policies, procedures and controls.
 Prepare Review & Develop plans and programs for the QA/QC function of the
technical services department, in line with the Technical Services & Quality
Assurance strategies in order to support effective execution of projects as per
defined standards & parameters.
 Identification of damage mechanism & Development of corrosion loops.
 Preparation of Inspection test plan (ITP) forprocess piping, pressure vessel & storage
tanks.
 Development of repair methodologies for static equipment’s as per API/ASME PCC -2.
 Calculation of minimum required thickness of pressure vessel components and piping
systems based on Internal / External pressure/supplemental loading condition related to
Design temperature as per ASME codes.
 Determination of MAWP of pressure vessel component to the next scheduled inspection
date using current thickness data reports.
 Determination of retirement thickness calculation, corrosion rate calculation, remaining
service life calculationfor process piping / Equipment and advising for any
repair/replacement/re-rating requirement.
 Establish the extent of inspection and inspection interval as per APIcodes.
 Prepare / Review the calculationof Re-rating/Alterations/Repair parameters which
meet the original construction code
 Ensure the integrity of vessel cladding, metallic lining and weld overlay to the code
requirement during turn around.
 PerformInternal inspection of Distillation column and asses the condition of Distributor
piping, Tray deck,Tray valve,Nozzle bore , Random & structured packing, Feed inlet line,
Liquid collectorchimney tray, Demister pad, Tray support ring etc.
 Conduct internal inspection of radial/axial flow reactor,CCR units. Asses the integrity of
internal attachment such as Scallops, Inner basket screen, Outer basket screen,
Perforated plate distributor, Deflectionbaffle plate, Centre pipe, Catalyst transfer pipe,
Inlet distributor etc. during outage.
 Performinternal inspection of fired heater and asses the integrity of refractory,Burner,
radiant/convection coil,stack, fuel line, dampers etc. during outage.
 Perform External inspection of static equipment and asses the condition of concrete
support, Anchor bolt, Grounding connection,Nozzle, Misalignment, hot spots, Vibration,
Protectivecoating /insulation and Skirt supports of vessel.
 Inspection of expansion joint both at maintenance outage and during operation prior to
shut downand shortly after start up and record the "hot" & "cold"setting position of
connected pipe support/ guides and reviewedagainst design condition.
 Inspection of injection point, process mix point, dead legs, soil to air interface and buried
piping system as per API 570
 Ability to supervise & co-ordination of all on-stream and shut-down inspection activities
of static equipment, plant piping and pressure relieving devices.
 Inspection and installation of pressure relieving devices as per APIand ASME code.
 Inspection of valves(Globe/Plug/Gate/Check/Ball) and conductValves pressure testing
such as Shell test, Back seat test and Closure test as per API598.

 Performseat tightness test and pop up test of PRVas per API527.
 Thickness survey data analysis.
 Evaluate inspection findings to determine if deficiency exist that require repair or re-
rating.
 Evaluate NDTdata, inspection results etc.todetermine whether equipment’s meet code
requirement for continued service
 Finding the Damage mechanism such as Stress corrosioncracking, hydrogen induced
cracking, caustic embrittlement, hydrogen blistering, chloride stress corrosion cracking
and corrosion under insulation in the Static equipment and piping system as per API571.
 Review & analysis of previous inspection reports to summarize the integrity status of the
piping system.
 Monitor Coating & insulation condition of plant equipment and piping system
 Evaluation of service induced defects in plant equipment’s & piping system
 Failure investigation relating to corrosion/erosion affectsand recommends remedial
action.
 Witnessing NDT activities such as MT, PT,UTand evaluate radiographic film
interpretation.
 Prepare/Review WPS/PQRin accordancewith ASME SECIX,AWSD1.1, and API 110.
 Conduct welder qualification test forvarious WPS as per ASME SEC IX, API1104 & AWS
D1.1.
 Ensure blasting & painting of vessel, pipes, spools, steel structure & fittings are done in
accordancewith specification.
 Conversant withcoating inspection techniques such as surface cleanliness/profile check,
chloride test, Holiday test, WFT/DFTcheck,adhesion test, bresel test, dust test etc.
 Familiar with PMItest, Hardness test & PWHT.
 To review the QC concerned documents i.e. welding records, welder qualification record,
WPS/PQR,weldmaps, NDE summary, NDE reports, material test certificates, material
summary, fit-up inspection report, visual and dimensional report.
Co-ordination
 Attends / participates as member in the various technical and / investigation
committee, coordination meetings with contractors and other sections formed in
the Refinery.
 Daily contacts with Maintenance, Operations and other Technical Services
personnel up to Section Head and occasional contacts with Managers to
coordinate inspection activities as well as to discuss technical aspects and
ensures quality repair work
 Frequent contacts with contractor representatives during shutdown as well as for
project and plant jobs.
 Direct and supervise all on-stream and shutdown inspection activities for
Stationary Equipment, Piping systems, Pressure relieving devices.
 Supervises and participates to the limited extent in non-destructive testing of
equipment and piping, including review of preliminary interpretations carried
out by subordinates.

  • 4.  Determination of MAWP of pressure vessel component to the next scheduled inspection date using current thickness data reports.  Determination of retirement thickness calculation, corrosion rate calculation, remaining service life calculationfor process piping / Equipment and advising for any repair/replacement/re-rating requirement.  Establish the extent of inspection and inspection interval as per APIcodes.  Prepare / Review the calculationof Re-rating/Alterations/Repair parameters which meet the original construction code  Ensure the integrity of vessel cladding, metallic lining and weld overlay to the code requirement during turn around.  PerformInternal inspection of Distillation column and asses the condition of Distributor piping, Tray deck,Tray valve,Nozzle bore , Random & structured packing, Feed inlet line, Liquid collectorchimney tray, Demister pad, Tray support ring etc.  Conduct internal inspection of radial/axial flow reactor,CCR units. Asses the integrity of internal attachment such as Scallops, Inner basket screen, Outer basket screen, Perforated plate distributor, Deflectionbaffle plate, Centre pipe, Catalyst transfer pipe, Inlet distributor etc. during outage.  Performinternal inspection of fired heater and asses the integrity of refractory,Burner, radiant/convection coil,stack, fuel line, dampers etc. during outage.  Perform External inspection of static equipment and asses the condition of concrete support, Anchor bolt, Grounding connection,Nozzle, Misalignment, hot spots, Vibration, Protectivecoating /insulation and Skirt supports of vessel.  Inspection of expansion joint both at maintenance outage and during operation prior to shut downand shortly after start up and record the "hot" & "cold"setting position of connected pipe support/ guides and reviewedagainst design condition.  Inspection of injection point, process mix point, dead legs, soil to air interface and buried piping system as per API 570  Ability to supervise & co-ordination of all on-stream and shut-down inspection activities of static equipment, plant piping and pressure relieving devices.  Inspection and installation of pressure relieving devices as per APIand ASME code.  Inspection of valves(Globe/Plug/Gate/Check/Ball) and conductValves pressure testing such as Shell test, Back seat test and Closure test as per API598.

VEERASEKARAN Page 5 of 7  Performseat tightness test and pop up test of PRVas per API527.  Thickness survey data analysis.  Evaluate inspection findings to determine if deficiency exist that require repair or re- rating.  Evaluate NDTdata, inspection results etc.todetermine whether equipment’s meet code requirement for continued service  Finding the Damage mechanism such as Stress corrosioncracking, hydrogen induced cracking, caustic embrittlement, hydrogen blistering, chloride stress corrosion cracking and corrosion under insulation in the Static equipment and piping system as per API571.  Review & analysis of previous inspection reports to summarize the integrity status of the piping system.  Monitor Coating & insulation condition of plant equipment and piping system  Evaluation of service induced defects in plant equipment’s & piping system  Failure investigation relating to corrosion/erosion affectsand recommends remedial action.  Witnessing NDT activities such as MT, PT,UTand evaluate radiographic film interpretation.  Prepare/Review WPS/PQRin accordancewith ASME SECIX,AWSD1.1, and API 110.  Conduct welder qualification test forvarious WPS as per ASME SEC IX, API1104 & AWS D1.1.  Ensure blasting & painting of vessel, pipes, spools, steel structure & fittings are done in accordancewith specification.  Conversant withcoating inspection techniques such as surface cleanliness/profile check, chloride test, Holiday test, WFT/DFTcheck,adhesion test, bresel test, dust test etc.  Familiar with PMItest, Hardness test & PWHT.  To review the QC concerned documents i.e. welding records, welder qualification record, WPS/PQR,weldmaps, NDE summary, NDE reports, material test certificates, material summary, fit-up inspection report, visual and dimensional report.
