Filipinos are known for having close family ties. They treat their
friends, neighbors, and whole community as part of their family. That
is why Filipinos have their own set of social practices, traditions, and
traits that demonstrates service to their moral communities. What do

14. In Paul’s time, believers of Christ came from
different religious, cultural, racial, and
geographical backgrounds.
Paul, in his letters to the Romans, wanted to
emphasize that even though they came from
diverse backgrounds, they have one thing in
common: they are all servants of Christ, so they
must relate with each other well and work as one.
The situation in Paul’s time still holds true today.
Believers of Christ today also come from different
backgrounds. Here is Paul’s advice on how
believers of Christ should treat each other.

15. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these
members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though
many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We
have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your
gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is
serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage,
then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to
lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

sense of belonging and connects us with others with whom
we build enduring relations.
 It makes us feel accepted, loved, safe, and protected. We
need people who would check on us, support us during hard
times, bless us, and stimulate our love and goodness. We
feel enriched because of the gifts shared to us by fellow
members of the community.

How members of a community act according to their moral responsibility
determines the health of community relationships.
“Respect one another, love other believers…” (1 Peter 2:17)
“Let us be concerned for one another to help one another to show love
and to do good.” (Hebrews 10:24)
