Appreciating God's love
means being grateful for the
things He has done for us and
sharing these blessings by also
showing love for our fellow men.
Some people say the word is the most
used and abused word there is.
Love has been described countless ways;
written about in songs, literature, and letters;
uttered in a number of situations each day; and
treasured and kept hidden in people’s hearts.
LOVE
In the dictionary, there are four Greek words that
translate to the English word
each with a slightly different meaning.
Sexual Love
Eros
The passionate
desire for an object
or person
Love for a
Friend
Philia/Philos
A friendly feeling
toward a friend
Natural affection
among family
members
Storge
familial love; natural or
instinctual affection, as
of a parent for a child
Divine love of God
towards his Son,
the human beings,
and all believers
Agape
A kind of love that creates
value in the beloved
This kind of the love is the greatest love we can ever
experience for it comes from the Lord.
It does not ask for anything in return and is above and
beyond our shortcomings. Lucky are those who recognize
and experience this kind of love for it is one-of-a-kind and
irreplaceable. The moment we recognize and experience
God’s love, let us show our gratitude to God and share how
amazing this experience is with those around us.
activity
Study the list of actions below. Write inside the smaller circle the acts that show a person’s
love for God. Then, put inside the bigger circle those actions that show a person’s love for
others. You don’t have to come up with an equal number of actions for each circle.
1. Praying to God regularly
2. Helping two loved ones work out their differences
3. Interceding on a person’s behalf
4. Doing good things to glorify God
5. Honoring God’s name
6. Rejoicing or mourning with others
7. Volunteering in the church service
8. Rebuke someone for his/her wrong deed privately
9. Loving your enemies
10.Practice forgiveness and compassion always
The best gifts are those given through the proddings of the heart
or what we call gifts of love. We, sometimes, receive gifts from
our loved ones. We value these gifts whatever they may be
material things, money, time, physical presence, encouragement,
prayers, or any other.
In the same manner, because of God’s love to humankind, He
tried to give us the best gift He can give, His only begotten Son.
Let us all accept this gift and value and treasure Him with a
grateful heart.

Analyzing theLoveVerse
The "love verse”, John 3:16
(GNT), expresses this greatest
of love that entailed the
ultimate sacrifice:
Let us take a look and do an analysis of the key words
of the verse:
For God – God is the Giver of all life. None of us can
compare to and contest God’s nature of giving. He is
ever gracious.
so loved – love is the motivation behind why God
generously gives. God is love and that is His perfect
nature. His love is unselfish, sacrificial, gracious,
compassionate, everlasting, complete, and holy.
the world – the world or the fallen humanity is the
recipient of God’s love. The whole world or the whole of
humanity is the expanse or scope of God’s love. The
world may not deserve God’s unconditional love but God
chose to save mankind, nevertheless.
that He gave – giving is the greatest act of God. He did
not give just anyone--He gave His only Son.
His only Son – the Beloved Son of God, Jesus, is the
greatest gift of God. Jesus Christ '8 the perfect gift that
provides lasting benefits. Forgiveness, holiness,
transformation, and joy are the amazing benefits of
accepting Jesus as Savior.
that whoever believes in Him – this is the invitation and
response to God’s call of salvation, The call of God is
open to all people. Regardless of status, race, language,
and background, we can all heed God's invitation.
will not perish but have everlasting life – this is the
reward for all of us sinners, who would repentantly
accept God’s invitation.
Just as John 3:16, is nicknamed the
”love verse,” 1 Corinthians 13 is called the
"Love Chapter" of the Bible. This is
because the verses found in this chapter
describe the kind of love that God wants
us to have for each other. It also
describes God and His love for us.
HOWGODSHOWS
HISLoveFORUS
There are many ways by which God
shows His love for us.
There are times when He shows His
love in a grand way. Sometimes, He
makes us feel His love in the
simplest of ways. God also loves to
surprise us, catching us off guard
when we least expect Him.
1. God sent Christ to save us.
"For God loved the world so
much that He gave his only
Son, so that everyone who
believes in Him may not die
but have eternal life. For God
did not send His Son into the
world to be its judge, but to be
its savior."
~ John 3:16-17
2. God forgives us of our sins.
“Everyone has sinned and is far away from God’s saving
presence. But by the free gift of God’s grace all are put
right with Him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free.
God offered Him, so that by His blood He should become
the means by which people's sins are forgiven through
their faith in Him.”
~ Romans 3:23-26
3. God calls us to join His family.
“For the Spirit that God has given you
does not make you slaves and cause
you to be afraid; instead, the Spirit
makes you God’s children, and by the
Spirit’s power we cry out to God,
'Father! My Father!’”
~ Romans 8:15
4. God uses us as instruments for the fulfillment of
His plans.
“Because Jesus Christ did what God wanted Him to do,
we are all purified from sin by the offering that He
made of His own body once and for all.”
~ Hebrews 10:10
5. God frees us from sin and allows us to be one with Him.
“See how much the Father has loved us! His love is so great
that we are called God's children – and so, in fact, we are.
This is why the world does not know us: it has not known God.
My dear friends, we are now God’s children, but it is not yet
clear what we shall become. But we know that when Christ
appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as he
really is.”
~ 1 John 3:1-2

  • 21. There are many ways by which God shows His love for us. There are times when He shows His love in a grand way. Sometimes, He makes us feel His love in the simplest of ways. God also loves to surprise us, catching us off guard when we least expect Him.
  • 22. 1. God sent Christ to save us. "For God loved the world so much that He gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not die but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior." ~ John 3:16-17
  • 23. 2. God forgives us of our sins. “Everyone has sinned and is far away from God’s saving presence. But by the free gift of God’s grace all are put right with Him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free. God offered Him, so that by His blood He should become the means by which people's sins are forgiven through their faith in Him.” ~ Romans 3:23-26
  • 24. 3. God calls us to join His family. “For the Spirit that God has given you does not make you slaves and cause you to be afraid; instead, the Spirit makes you God’s children, and by the Spirit’s power we cry out to God, 'Father! My Father!’” ~ Romans 8:15

  • 26. 5. God frees us from sin and allows us to be one with Him. “See how much the Father has loved us! His love is so great that we are called God's children – and so, in fact, we are. This is why the world does not know us: it has not known God. My dear friends, we are now God’s children, but it is not yet clear what we shall become. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as he really is.” ~ 1 John 3:1-2
