Vasiliy Nikolaevich Machuga was a famous Soviet athlete from Krasnodar krai known for acrobatics. He was born in 1951 and studied at a teachers college in Eysk. He trained in acrobatics starting in 1971 with coach V.D. Narykov and became a champion, winning world and European titles between 1978-1980 as well as multiple World Cups. After retiring, Machuga held leadership roles in sports committees until his death in 1996 and was honored with various awards for his accomplishments and service. Several facilities in Krasnodar are named in his memory to honor his legacy.

• the Order of the Labour Red Banner and other orders
He was honered Master of Sports of the USSR
