2. HOW IT BEGAN….

Aleksey Zhuk was born in
6.11.1955 at the
Novosibirsk.
•
After finishing the
primary school №88 at
the Minsk (Belorussia) he
received invitation in
handball section.
•
He took up handball.
•
From the very beginning
he was different as he
was lefthander, but it
didn’t prevent him from
being one of the best
players in his team.
3. THE FIRST
SUCCESSES…
•
Four years later still in
school (eighth class) he
was accepted for the
National handball team of
the USSR He was only 16
then while all players
were 19.
•
In 1971 he went abroad
for the first time and took
par in the championship
in Czechoslovakia.
•
At the same time he
became a member of the
best team in Belorussia
“Polytechnic Minsk”
•
In 1974 he played in the
four National teams of
the USSR simultaneously.
4. YOUTH…
•
In 1974 he called up for
military service where his
career closely connected
with the army handball.
He joined the Army
Sports Club of Minsk
(SKA Minsk).
•
In the same year he
became the best player of
the USSR Championship
, moved to Moscow to
play for the Central Army
Club. He also was chosen
to play in the first
National team of the
USSR.
•
From 1975 to 1987 was
playing in the National
team of the USSR.
5. THE OLYMPIC
GAMES '80…
•
Aleksey Vladimirovich
took part in the Olympic
Games in 1980.
•
He was silver prizewinner of Olympic
Games.
•
There were two
generations in his team at
that time: “the young”
and “the veterans”. He
belonged to the young.
He was only 24.
6. NOWADAYS
• Nowadays Aleksey Vladimirovich Zhuk is the chief coach
of the CSKA tennis team.
• His experience and skill made Elena Dementyeva the
Olympic champion.
7. SPORTS

• Winner of the World Cup (1978)
