Elena Nikolaeva

sportswoman, athlete,
specialist in race
walking. The pupil of
Cheboksary school
race walking.
Biography


After graduating from high school, she entered
in the Chuvash Agricultural Academy, where
she  became involved in the sport of athletics
section walking since the early days, and already
she was awarded the title of Master of Sports in
the first year. In 1986, she completed the Master
of sports of international class and set the record
for the Soviet Union in race walking for 10 km.




At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in
1996 Elena became an Olympic
champion in walking for 10 km in the
national team of Russia.
At the age of 37 she became world
champion at the Paris championship
in 2003 at a distance of 20 kilometers.


Elena Nikolaeva awarded
the title of Honored
Master of Sports of the
USSR (1992) and
Honored Worker of
Physical Culture and
Sports of the Republic of
Chuvashia. In 1997 she
became an honorary
citizen of the city of
Cheboksary. State Council
of Chuvashia.
