Utilitarianism is an ethical framework that determines right and wrong based on outcomes. It holds that the most ethical choice maximizes well-being for the greatest number of people. However, utilitarianism has limitations because the future consequences of actions are difficult to predict with certainty. It also struggles to account for concepts like justice and individual rights. While consequentialism judges actions based on their outcomes, it too is problematic because outcomes are unpredictable and can sometimes lead to objectionable decisions even if the consequences are good.
