5. It is a multi-faceted concept to explain, which
include ethics of computing and using computing
technology, IT professionalism, etc.
In addition to the designated reading material, I
used a speaking by Dr. Lessig on remix culture
triggered by the Web 2.0 technology to illustrate
and broaden the view of students on the
understanding of this context.
The video is initially maintained by UH main
campus. Later it was moved to YouTube and
become permanently available.

6. In many CIS/CS courses, we are in the
situation to explain how to use a software.
The explanation could be difficult because
minor configuration issues could make it
work or not work at all
Students could be frustrated and gave up.

7. Use Camtasia to make a video become an
extremely useful way to explain software
usage to students.
All you need to do is launch the application
and record your operation on the software,
you can also use microphone to explain your
steps.

8. Previously I had to use a combination of
discussion board, email and calls to explain
how to correctly configure netbrute, a port
scanning software, to students.
After I learnt Camtasia from Title V, I made a
3 minutes video about how to use it
From then on, I no longer received any
question from students about the
configuration of this software.

9. Search YouTube first
◦ Clever use of keyword will help you find most of the
video teaching material you want to find
◦ UH main: http://www.youtube.com/user/UHouston?feature=watch
Search MIT, Stanford as well as other major
university video sites
Search company website – large companies
are posting videos about their technologies
If you cannot find what you want, consider
making one by yourself!
