Essay on Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis
Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis
Jacqueline Lee Bouvier was born on July 28th, 1929 in East Hampton, Long Island. Jacqueline s
mother was Janet Lee Bouvier, a highly ambitious horseback rider. Jacqueline was nicknamed
quot;Jackie quot; after her father, Jack Bouvier. Young Jackie s parents were a very well off
coupled. Her father had an estimated fortune of 7 million dollars and Janet came from a wealthy
family also, her father had been chairman of the board of Chase National Bank.
Asides for the Bouviers wealth, the other thing they were most noted for was their beauty, Jack in

At first Janet did not know that her husband was still playing his role as a ladies man but when she
found out she immediately demanded Jack s fidelity. Jack didn t know the meaning of the word.
Several months after Jackie s 7th birthday in 1936, her parents separated. When their separation
agreement ran out six months later, the Bouviers gave the marriage another try. It lasted for five
months. Then at the end of august 1937, Jack and Janet separated permanently, although they did
not get divorced until 1940. (Guthrie)
Janet won custody of her two daughters. Jackie and Lee considered living with their mother
quot;humdrum quot; while visiting their father was a quot;treat quot;. Jack had great influence
over his daughters. He taught them about personal style and what men looked for in women.
Whatever their father considered good, these girls did.(Guthrie)
Janet did not stay single for long. Two years after her divorce from Jack, Janet remarried Hugh
Auchincloss. Auchincloss was a Scottish man with good values and work ethics. Not only was
Auchincloss a hard working man but his family had an equally high social standing as the
Bouviers. Auchincloss s fortune was also greater than the Bouviers. Hugh owned a large estate,
Merrywood, in Virginia. At Merrywood he lived with Janet, his three children, Jackie and Lee, and

The Honest Truth Of Dishonesty
The Honest Truth
Introduction
The importance of individual honesty and trustworthiness has long been asserted as a
characteristic of the morally noble and pure of heart. Since the early 14th century honesty has
played an integral role in establishing credibility among colleagues, strengthening lawful legal
systems, and classifying actions as morally acceptable or unacceptable. In recent years the idea of
honesty has taken an abrupt halt and shifted towards the concept of dishonesty, a constantly
growing enterprise formulated on incentives and misguided logic. This is the belief that a person s
behavior is deceitful or fraudulent, and is often misconstrued as a trait of swindlers and the
morally corrupt. However, dishonesty is a natural occurrence seen in every age, location, and
culture and should be acknowledged as a defense mechanism seen in every individual.
The Concept of Dishonesty
The notion of dishonesty derived from three basic elements: (1) personal gain; (2) the probability
of getting caught; and (3) punishment (Ariely 14). Recent studies from applied psychologists, such
as Kang Lee, state that only after considering these key points does a person wallow in the act of
deception. An example of this can be seen in Dan Ariely s Coke verses cash experiment. In this
experiment, six packs of Coca Cola were placed in a dormitory refrigerator with a plate of one
dollar bills. Within seventy two hours they found all of the cokes were gone albeit none of the
money was

Similarities Between Phillis Wheatley And William Apess
Both Phillis Wheatley and William Apess include theological orientation and religious rhetoric
strategies in their writing but in different ways. Wheatley isn t necessarily concerned with narration
in her poetry as Apess is in his writing. Her focus isn t really action, but ideas. In her text, her goals
are to worship, discuss philosophies about Christianity, redemption, and history. The themes in her
poetrycommunicate ideas of Christian devoutness, ethics, righteousness and death. A more in
depth reading of her works will, however, reveal their anti slavery ideas as well as her objection
to the subjugation of her race. She protests, stresses vengeance, and uses her powerful imagery to
draw attention to her search for power, order, and progress.

Theology Of Repentance And The Old Covenant
Introduction of Theology of Repentance and Forgiveness
When studying the nature of God or theology, one ascertains what God does and did for
humanity. One of God s nature was a family and in His infinite wisdom, He created humankind to

The aim of theology is the ascertainment of the facts respecting God and the relations between God
and the universe, and the exhibition of these facts in their rational unity, as connected parts of a

mysteries of God. However, science has its limitations to unlocking this mystery. Strong continues,

I was too upset to have a conversation with him and knew that if I did talk to him, I would say
something ungodly. In order to prevent that, I chose to keep my distance. Sometime later, he

so let s see if we can come to an agreement on how to resolve it. When reading the above scenario,
repentance never occurred from my friend. Although I forgave him for the remarks, and it was
several weeks until he finally repented or has remorse for making the comments, however, the
initial response was not repentance. Before I reconnected with my friend, I used some of Sande s

Samsung Gear S3 Case Study
Design In the battle of smartwatches Apple Watch Series 2 vs Samsung Gear S3 you couldn t get
two more contrasting styles (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 , 2017). Watch
designs will always be a very subjective thing (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 ,
2017). What one person finds attractive, another would simply not have any smartwatch on their
wrist (Sawh, wareable, 2017). Samsung Gear S3 took an approach differently than the Apple Watch
Series 2 with a rotating bezel around the watch face allowing you to scroll through the Gear S3 s
menu screens or to turn the volume down on your music. There are two different versions the
Frontier and the Classic both look similar. The Classic is more of a dressy type of watch for
work or a date. The Frontier is sportier for such as workouts, or some type of outdoor activity
The Gear S3 comes is available in LTE version (Easton, 2016). Apple Watch Series 2 brings a
traditional watch crown and added a modern twist by allowing you to scroll through
notifications and even selecting apps in selected 38mm and 42mm cases available. The Series 2
brings a twice as bright screen then the original Apple Watch. As far as durability Samsung has
carried out military standard testing to help it withstand high and low temperatures and a good
amount of rough and tumble (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 , 2017). One of
the biggest challenges faced by all smartwatch makers is trying to find different ways to make
interacting with a smaller wrist worn device with a touchscreen display more intuitive (Sawh,
Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 , 2017).
Software
Apple and Samsung have both relied on their operating systems optimized specifically for
smartwatches (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 , 2017). Apple Watch Series 2
runs on watch OS 3, but currently has been upgraded to watch OS 4 (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs

Narcissistic Identity Identify With Conduct On Facebook
Introduction
Narcissism is a multiplex concept and represents different characteristics, demonstrative of both
good and horrible practices (Kubarych et al, 2004) that may clarify the inspirations driving social
networking sites use. In this way, conceptualizing narcissism as only a sole construct may make us
misconstrue the ways in which social networking platforms are utilized to fulfill different
psychological needs. Research has begun to analyze how undesirable parts of narcissistic identity
identify with conduct on Facebook (Carpenter, 2012).
The modern study seeks to explain the good and the undesirable parts of narcissism by discussing
about narcissism and how it relates to social networking sites use. Therefore, key differences in the
affordances of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram relevant to narcissism
research are then discussed, highlighting the ways in which the observed association between
narcissism and social networking platforms use may change depending on the type of social
networking platforms used and the behavior assessed (Panek et al, 2013).
Overall usage of various social media platforms are an integral part of life. With social platforms

Role Of The Financial Manager On Today s Business World...
The role of the financial Manager in today s business world has been rapidly changing. The change
is fuelled by technology innovation in particularly, digital technology and increasing information
processing power. Since the financial crisis in 2008, firms have been working to restructure their
operations as a means of survival. This has led to the modification of many managementroles, more
so the role of the Chief Financial Officer(CFO). As a means for survival, firms started by cutting on
costs, becoming more lean and efficient. However, today there is no more room for cutting on costs
and firms have been looking to growth as a way to increase profitability. Growth comes with new
uncertainties and challenges which financial managers have to consider when making their
financial decisions. These new macroeconomic challenges facing the financefunction include:
Regulation, Globalization, Technology, Risk, Transformation, Stakeholder management, strategy,
reporting, and Talent and capability. This paper will provide an analysis and evaluation of the
challenges facing finance managers in a changing macroeconomic environment, the changes firms
are making to the Chief Finance Officer s role, the impact these changes are making to the firms
performance and how these changes impact the role of financial managers and the consequences of
the changes CFOs make to curb these new challenges.

How Can English Be An Official Language
Language is formed through culture, history, and evolves over time in order to be able to
communicate with one another. Differences in languages are based on where people are from,
who they may be, and their own experiences. All languages have unique value, and all display their
own ways of seeing the world. Languages and cultures are constantly changing due to influences
we have on one another in the way we speak and write. Different languages are always mixing
through contact on media, like the internet, which allows opportunities for languages to grow and
affect each other in several ways. The English languageformed though history, culture, and

time now. While English has always been the primary language in the United States, the increased
number of immigrants over the years has made majority of Americans want to make English

being the official language could also bring more issues for immigrants. Unless equal opportunities
are provided for non English speakers and the advantages of English being the official language are
greater than disadvantages, America should not move forward for official

Seamus Heaney s Mid Term Break
Everybody knows the feeling of losing a loved one, a friend, or family member. Everyone has
been to at least one funeral, and it s very sad and at times uncomfortable. The awkward
interactions with people saying sorry or the feeling of seeing the ones you love be in such pain.
In the poem, Mid term Break , published in 1966, Seamus Heaney touches this subject in every
aspect. In Mid term Break Heaney tells the story of a young man whose brother has died and he
comes home to the funeral. As the boy enters his house he sees things that are now different after
the death of his brother. Heaney s words and use of poetic devices draws a picture of the sad
scene. In this poem Heaney writes about a death which is typical for many of his poems. James
Persoon, a writer for The Facts On File Companion to British Poetry, 1900 to Present, writes that
Heaney here draws on his own experience in having an adolescent speaker reflect on the death
of his four year old brother, for the poet s brother, Christopher, was killed in a car accident at age
four in 1953. (Persoon). Not only can one see that Heaney s emotions were put into this poem
but also his own life experiences. Losing a family member is hard enough, and it is even harder
when that person is young because no one will ever know the full potential that person could have
had if they had not died. The language Heaney uses allows the reader to see the importance of the
main character. It also shows the significance of the

Disney And Disney Of Disney Land Essay

Disney. However, my research into Euro Disney radically changes my opinion on such a
glamourous franchise. This is coming from one of the biggest Disney advocates in the world, Euro
Disney is an embarrassment to the Disney name as well as the brand. The disrespectful manner
Disney went about creating a new world in a foreign nation lead directly to its looming demise.
Disney world has invented an immensely strong brand that is easily one of the most recognized
brands in the history of the world. Through making heartwarming movies for families Walt Disney
created characters that were completely embraced and beloved by all. Walt Disney was able to
provide people with an escape to a world full of happiness based on his characters. Most notably he
created Mickey Mouse which allowed the Disney company to spin an entirely new world after
Walt s death in 1955 called Disney Land. From the creation of Disney Land in 1955 the company
has expanded into six different resorts/theme parks making over billions of dollars and one of the
most successful business models of all time.

because they are exposed to certain situations that may only be prevalent in the area where they

Unit 3: Comparison Essay Throne of Blood is a film directed by Akira Kurosawa which is based on
William Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of Macbeth Macbeth. While Macbeth takes place in
Scotland, Throne of Blood is set in Japan. Macbeth is a tragic play that is mainly revolving around
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The play and film are two productions that are very similar but differ
in the aspects of the plot events.
Macbeth and his friend Banquo wandered into talking to three witches. The three witches tell
Macbeth he s going to be king, but they also tell Banquo that his children will be in the royalty
line. Macbeth takes interest in the possibility of being a king, but he doesn t pursue with any

the idea of being king, but didn t really have plans on pursuing it until his wife pushed him into
killing Duncan. Eventually, it got to the point that murdering seemed normal to Macbeth
considering the fact that he just sent murderers to the Macduff house. There was even a point in
the play where Banquo, who was Macbeth s friend, questioned how far macbeth would pursue
things and if he d be a loyal friend or let ambition take over him. Macbeth brushed it off as if it

High Performance Teams
In today s business world, more and more organizations are moving away from the use of
individual work assignments to a combination of manager led and self directing teams. These
businesses are relying on groups of unique individuals to come together and work on a common
goal with a shared purpose. The ultimate goal for these teams are to produce more than what the
individuals could do separately. In order for those teams to accomplish this, they must become high
performance teams. High performance teams consist of a small number of individuals with
complementary skills, who are committed to a specific goal and mutually agree to hold each other
accountable for their results. Those teams who make it to this level experience autonomy,... Show

If it is a known fact that individuals tend to compare themselves to each other, then why are leaders
in organizations so surprised that conflict, rivalry, or competition amongst teammembers occurs?
Part of the reason is because while organizations have changed their thinking from an individualistic
form of production to a collectivist form of teams, they have failed to change their form of
recognition, incentives, motives, and culture to match. Organizations are promoting the idea of
teams and working together for a common goal and purpose, all while offering incentives that are
unchanged from the original idea of individual motivation and it is creating competition rather than
the cooperation that they need for high performance teams (Beersma, Hollenbeck, Humphrey,
Moon, Conlon, Ilgen, 2003). Unfortunately, there has been considerable controversy over the idea
of competition and cooperation in teams. Some research shows that competition is beneficial,
while others show that it creates the conflict organizations are trying to avoid. Therefore, it is
important to examine the idea of competition and cooperation and seek to decide which is better to
pursue. According to Scarborough (2012) one of the best qualities of business leaders or
entrepreneurs is a competitive nature. So, if

Nietzsche s Three Metamorphoses
In Thus Spoke Zarathustra, the first of the three metamorphoses which Nietzsche introduces is
the camel. The camel is a collector of burdens. The camel asks, What is heaviest ... that I may
take it upon me and rejoice in my strength (54). And although I resent the comparison, the camel
was me. All my (teenage) life I bore the weight of the expectations of others with enthusiasm,
letting everyone besides me decide the course of my life, and, as a result, I was becoming bitter
and full of despair. Something had to change. On one hand, my reason for transferring is simple:
the major I d like to switch to isn t offered at my current school. But it s deeper than that. I m
applying to Rutgers because it s the first major step I can take towards taking control of my own
life. I didn t quite grow up like everyone else. I was homeschooled, from the beginning all the
way until graduation. A former elementary school teacher, my mother didn t trust the public
schools. I always performed well, although I didn t have many people to compare myself to, and,
graduation was at 15 (I was eager to get out). I couldn t immediately go to any college I wanted

Analysis Of Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven By...
Everyone has their own struggles that they go through in life. Some may be self inflicted, while
others are just the cards that were dealt to them. Sherman Alexie s story collection The Lone
Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven tells of the cards that were given to people on a reservation.
This compilation of stories was the framework for Smoke Signals, which won two awards at
Sundance Film Festivals. Alexie has also written other novels and poems in regard to the Native
American culture. The Lone Rangerand Tonto Fistfight in Heaven was an interesting read to say
the least. It tells of the alcoholism, crime, relationships, and traditions of both the present and
past residents of the reservation, as well as their ancestors before the reservation was in place.
Overall this book is a representation of Native American lives both on and off of the reservation,
with interaction with the white people and the governing forces of the reservation. I was
looking forward to seeing if this collection of stories could change the way I picture reservations.
I have viewed the outskirts of a few and they did not leave a good image. The reservation in the
novel is located in Spokane. From the beginning the collection has attention grabbing features,
telling of a boy named Victor who is witness to his family s arguments and problems at a young
age. None of it was new to him though and his perspective gives insight to how life on a
reservation can be. Throughout the book

Be Responsible and Take Action in Shakespeare, Aeschylus...
Shakespeare along with Aeschylus and T. S. Eliot use character from each of their respectable
work including Hamlet, Agamemnon and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock to demonstrate one
must responsibly be able to decide and take action in desperate times in order to prevent tragedy or
greater loss. Through the text of these three prominent literacy works from the ancient history to the
1900 s, one element that is evident in all three literature works is hamartia, which is directly related
to the protagonist making a tragic error that eventually leads to the final cataclysm. To get a
deeper insight of how hamartia plays a big role in these works, the audience has to get a better
understanding of the main character/protagonist of each play and get familiar with their personality
traits along with how they act in desperate times in order to prevent tragedy, or be the cause of it.
Prince Hamletin Hamlet , Agamemnon from Aescylus work along with Prufrock from The Love
Song of J. Alfred Prufrock are seen as victims of their personality flaws through the text presented
as eventually the outcome is seen as a tragic end for these characters due to their fatal errors.
Point1: One must be able to balance between reason and passion as reason falls towards rational
thinking while passion leads towards making irrational decisions. Hamlet in Shakespeare s play is
known as a tragic hero due the fact that he was bound for greatness but his fall came as a result of
his personality

Opera Paper Turandot Turandot is a dramatic opera that was performed in the Metropolitan
Opera in 2009. Turandot was written by Giacomo Puccini. This rendition of Turandot was
produced by Franco Zeffirelli, and directed by Andris Nelsons. In this beautiful performance of
Turandot, we see Maria Guleghina as Princess Turandot, Mariana Poplavskaya as Lui and Calaf
as play by Marcello Giodani. With all of these talented actors and show personnel, this
production remains one of the best known film adaptations of Turandot. The composer of
Turandot is Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini, who was born on
December 28, 1858 in the small town of Lucca Italy. Puccini came from 5 generations of
musicians and began writing operas at the age of 21. His realistic verismo style, which means
truth or reality in Italian, allowed him to identify with his characters in a realistic way and his
operas reflect real life situations. Puccini liked to write operas with heroines rather than heroes.
His operas almost always include a death for the sake of love. Despite his operatic genius,
Puccini only wrote ten operas in his lifetime. He died on November 22, 1924 at the age of 66. At
the time of his death, he was only one act short of completing Turandot. His close friend and fellow
composer, Arturo Toscanini, finished Turandot shortly after his death. Puccini has been referred to
by many critics as the greatest composer of Italian operaafter Verdi (Brittanica.com).

Postmodernism s The Swan As A Metaphor For Love
Postmodernism is a very unique era within American literature. In previous time periods authors
wrote very structured eventful stories that would often relate to the most common themes of the
time, however Postmodernism completely defied this formula. In most cases Postmodern stories
do not have story arcs nor do they have common themes. At most, the Post era can be bound by
very vague similarities. Most of the stories are conveyed through streams of conscious, which is
essentially using an unedited snippet of someone s life to create a story. There are no inner
monologues or poetic speeches, rather they only showcase a small scale continuous sliver of life.
The narration device similarity is cut and dry, however this can not be said for the themes within
Postmodernism. In the vaguest of words, Post era literature can be bound within a common ideal
of expressing the terrible and disappointing aspects of life. One of the most commonly attacked
aspects of life is the sense of love. In most forms of art and media love is portrayed as a glorious
thing so long as it is true. Love can conquer any mountain and defeat any foe, however
Postmodernism portrays love in a very different manner. In The Swan as a Metaphor for Love
love is compared to a swan. On the surface swans are seen as majestic creatures, similar to how
love is seen as a beautiful emotion, but underneath the water swans are revolting creatures covered
in swan shit and pond scum . This idea that a normal life

Designing The Perfect Soda Machine Essay
Designing the perfect soda machine comes with a lot of preparation. Coca Cola has created a soda
machine code named Project Jet and it s been a secret for the past 4 years. The company s VP of
global design David Butler created it. Coca Cola s machine has been at the top of the game since
2008 according to Beverage Digest. Ever since Butler joined the Coca Cola team they ve been able
to establish so many new things and brands like Coke, Diet Coke, and then newest Coke Zero.
David Butler has opened many doors for Coca Cola and he hasn t come to change a billion
dollar brand but he s there to re conceive the design of 13 billion dollar brands. After 4 years of
testing the Project jet will go public this fall. With it being one of the biggest investments in
Coke s history. David Butler, along with industrial design chief Vince Voron built Freestyle to
address a host of business conundrums: how to satisfy a consumer base that has been
increasingly moving away from carbonated sodas; how to lighten the carbon footprint generated
by hauling millions of gallons of syrup around the world; how to offer maximum variety within
the cramped confines of a fast food restaurant or cafeteria; and how to get accurate, real time
feedback on customer choices. Though that seems a lot for one machine to do, he says I love big,
giant, enormous systems, no matter what they are. It really comes to show he likes big systems

Antigone As A Tragic Hero
Antigone is a tragedy by the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles, which depicts two
extraordinary cases for a tragic hero. Both Creon and Antigone are the principal characters of the
play to be tragic heroes. A tragic hero is a character who is known for being noble and has an
imperfection that helps to his or her destruction. Creon and Antigoneare honorable and defective in
their own particular manners, having a comparative deplorable imperfection. The greatest golfer

stop at nothing until she does what will bring her great glory. Creon remains firm on his
decision, anyone who pursues to bury Polyneices, the one who attacked the city, will be
punished by death. Antigone is also described as egotistical in the way that she reveals to her
sister who won t become involved with Polyneices burial oh tell it! Tell everyone! Think how

The Pale and Muslim Refugees Today The Pale has had a lot to deal with in the past century,

Executive Officer At Huda Free Clinic
CEO at 22. I was thrown in the deep end, quite literally. Physicians, PAs, and nurses who were
once my mentors and supervisors, were now under my management. I felt blessed yet
overwhelmed at my new appointment as the chief executive officer at HUDA Free Clinic. I was
suddenly expected to have all of the answers, a seemingly tall order at a time when the clinic was
forced to rediscover its niche in light of the Affordable Care Act. I realized that undertaking this
task would be a part of my progression towards becoming a betterand stronger person. It served as
a crucible for this phase of my life, that would prepare me for the journey ahead.
I found the need to reinvent HUDA Clinic as a whole, which entailed adapting its policies to the
changing landscape of healthcare. I learned quickly that I d need to broaden HUDA s vision, in
that a solely primary care clinic was no longer the answer. Rather, HUDA would need to offer
those services that continue to remain inaccessible and unaffordable. Working alongside
physicians, I was able to expand our dental clinic, and introduced psychiatry and podiatry services.
I recruited more volunteer physicians, enabling us to expand our services. Today, the organization
is able to serve a considerably larger underserved and underinsured population.

Persuasive Essay On Invasive Plants
How easy is it to take care of a plant; pretty simple right? Just give the plant water and sunlight
and it will most likely grow. How about at goldfish? Get a tank, fill it with some water, add the
goldfish and make sure to feed it every once in a while. It takes a bit more work but still
relatively easy. How about having to take care of a reptile, like an iguana? They are much more
difficult to take care of. They also have many more needs including a heat lamp, special diet,
forested cage, and they do not like to be handled. When someone no longer wants these pets, they
may be tempted to release them in the wild and when this happens it can have devastating effects.
When any of the species mentioned above are released into the wild where they are not native,
they have a chance to become an invasive species. According to the Cooperative Invasive Species
Management Area or CISMA, invasive species are nonnative plants or animals that cause harm to
the environment, economy, or human health (CISMA, 2017). Invasive species are normally
brought to a new area by people who want to own exotic pets or have plants that will survive in
extreme weather. When the conditions are favorable to the species it can survive much better than
the native species. If the species happens to find a mate to reproduce, it can grow in population
rapidly. One example of this is the rabbit population on the island of Macquarie where the
population went from 20,000 to 130,000 in just six

Analysis Of The Poem Mark Strand

Mark Strand
Mark Strand once said, For some of us, the less said about the way we do things the better.
(Strand). In this he might have been referring to his poems. He wrote straightforward surrealistic
poems about the nature of life with ambiguous speakers. It is common to see in his poems a story
being told without actually telling one. In this way there is a sense of who the speaker is, who the
poet is, and a peculiar train of thought expressed with very precise words.
Mark Strand was greatly influenced by his time period. The influence of surrealism, a popular
form of art in the twentieth century, is prevalent throughout his poems. Mark Strand states in his
poet laureate interview that he wished to be like the other poets of his time. He was influenced
by Wallace Stevens and Lorca when he was a college student at Yale. In college, he started as an
artist and ended as a poet (Nordhaus). His poem, Eating Poetry expresses his love for poetry in a
curious way, I have been eating poetry (3). To help bring to light his own personal feelings, he
uses surrealistic imagery. He enjoys poetry to an extent that words cannot express, but he does the
impossible with this poem when he expresses his enjoyment through the consumption of poetry.

the online promoting strategy which placing advertisement though social media platform such as

3. Suggested improvements and future of full service airlines
Although the full service airline cannot provide cheap fares as the low cost airline, they are still
remaining their competitive advantages. The good quality of service such as entertaining
facilities provided by the full service is their largest competitive advantage that cannot be
replaced by the low cost airlines. Cento (2009) writes that the major objective of the hub and

Is an imitation of an already existing artwork a separate artwork in itself? Some philosophers
consider would consider saying yes to this question such as Davies from the theory of multiple
artworks while others may say no such as Collingwood in his differentiation of a true artwork as
contrasted with a craft. There are many instances of artwork that are only imitations but the
credit for its appreciation are given to different people. For example, would a cover for Hey Jude

2.0 Component Analysis The worm drive gearbox is comprised of a worm screw running off the
input shaft and engaging the worm wheel perpendicularly1. Bonfiglioli states in their quality
standards that they are committed to supplying effective products and go on to say they will never
compromise on safety, compliance or quality2. As a business, it is in their best interests to do so as
cost effectively as possible; keeping both these points in mind will help to analyse the various parts
of the gearbox and assess possible materials used, as well as manufacturing processes performed. 2.1
Worm shaft 2.1.1 Function The input shaft has a keyway cut which enables the motor to rotate the
worm; this in turn results in the worm wheel rotating due to contact between the worm thread and
the teeth of the worm wheel3. In order for the gearbox to continuously perform this function
smoothly and efficiently over time it is important that the worm shaft s material is carefully
considered to avoid the three principle factors that will influence performance1. 2.1.2 Materials
With the worm screw being in constant contact with the worm wheel, there has to be consideration
of wear due to friction when selecting the material. In order to avoid amounts of wear that will be
detrimental to performance, the shaft s material must have a high surface hardness1. It s important
that this is achieved without the hardening of the entire thread because this will result in the
material becoming more brittle. A

Virginia Woolf s Of Human Bondage
Of Human Bondage is, as we all know, written from Philip s point of view, and therefore we
sympathize with Philip, care about what goes on his life, and even feel attached to him. But, if
the story had been written from say, Mildred s point of view, we may not feet the same about
Philip. Chances are, his characterization would be completely different because of how Mildred
views him, and we would probably grow to dislike Philip as much as we learned to dislike
Mildred. Many have heard the saying, history is written by the winners, meaning we more
commonly sympathize with the winners because it is they who got to tell the story, and we learn
to dislike the opposing side, the way we dislike the British of the Revolutionary, the way we dislike

We would have been able to understand her thoughts about Philip, her odd distaste for him, how
she genuinely felt about the German man she left Philip for. We may view Philip in a different
light, as a weak, easily manipulated man, or as a man who didn t care, didn t understand her
situation. While we would still, most likely, see the faults in Mildred, the way we did with
Philip, we would probably think of them in a kinder way. After all, we all disliked Mildred when
she left Philip, who clearly loved her, to be with the German man. Yet, is that not what Philip
did do Nora, who really did love him? The two characters have many similarities, yet we view
one as good, and one as bad. Both raised by people other than their parents, both concerned with
money, both easily distracted, both in love just, not necessarily with each other. They both
turned to others for money when they were struggling; Philip wishing his uncle would die,
Mildred begging Philip for help. Neither of these characters are exactly good people, but they are
seen as opposing forces of good versus evil. It is in this way that, through perspective, we choose
who are the good people, and who are the bad. If Of Human Bondage had been written from a
different point of view, it is likely that we would have

Homeschool Is Not School At Home
Homeschool First time I heard about homeschooling, I had tons of question about it. I was
wondering. What are some requirement that parents have go through to be able to teach their
children? Why parents choose homeschool rather then let s their children go to compound school,
and how they manage their schedule? What are some approach that parents use to teach? However,
after question myself; the image of homeschoolinghave refresh on my childhood s school. During
my childhood, my family used to do homeschool. My dad provide chalks, blackboard, and
textbooks. My uncle and my brother were teachers. They taught my sibling and me math, reading
and writing. Sometime, my dad taught us English. Some people define that homeschool is not
school at home and some people say that it is a school at home. Anyway, my definition of
homeschool is school that educate with everything that we learn from, and from the real life that
have the parents as teachers and partners that learn a long. Homeschool started in the 1960s and
1970s when some parents didn t like publish school system. In the mid 1980s, homeschool had
been well and had increased from 150000 to 200000 children. In the mid 1990s, the number of
children had risen from 500000 to 600000, (Linsenbach 3). Up to today, Homeschool have increase
double the number of the student up to 2.5 million. The requirements for homeschooling are varies
from different state. The first important the requirement is parents qualification of

Chronological Age And Functional Age
Late adulthood is portrayed in prints, TV and other popular media from various perspectives. In
general, they are depicted as wise, stubborn, love to give advice, have difficulty performing
regular physical activities, some are even in wheelchairs or using assisted canes, and have lots
of stories to tell. It s the period of time when people are supposed to become slower, to get more
obsessive, needy, and look confused most of the time. However, this period has interesting facts
to educate each and every one of us. We are all going to get there, one way or another.
Chronological age vs functional age Everyone grows and ages differently. That is why
chronological age is a flawed tool to use to check a person s functional age. There is a vast
variation between chronological age and functional age. Chronological age is essentially a
person s biological age, while functional age is used to dictate the actual competence and
performance of an individual . For example, a 70 year old can actually appear younger than a 55
year old (Berk 443). Life Expectancy Chronological age doesn t show an accurate functional age
because people age at different rates. The average life expectancy is the number of years that a
person can expect to live based on his birth year and the region he lives in. Over the years, there
have actually been dramatic raise in the average life expectancy. Qualities in lifespan varies

junior professors of economics Seo Young (the University of Marburg, 2015), Alex Dreher who, is
also member of Development Economics and International Economics (University Heidelberg,
2015) and at last a professor of Environment and Development Eric Neumayer ( London School of

The introduction contains a considerable amount of other studies, which give reader a profound
understanding of sex trafficking. The quality and sufficiency of the literature review with many
references build up on researchers expertise and skills in such field. Importantly, the arguments used
in the introduction are well balanced, which supports researcher s objectivity. Following the
introduction, the research presents a theoretical framework based on demand and supply theory,
which offer a good understanding and possible outcomes of the legalisation of prostitution and offer
an opportunity to look at the issue from different aspects. On the other hand, the theoretical
assumption in research does not give us a clear explanation of the issue raised. Researchers have
answered the proposed question using quantitative and qualitative research methods. The study is
based on the secondary analysis of quantitative data, which, as noted by Goodwin (2012) refers to
using pre existing statistical data. As mentioned in the research design section, researchers relied
on data gathered mainly by the International Organisation for Migration and reports published by
the United Nation Office on Drugs and Crime Reports (UNODC), which provide a cross country
statistics on human trafficking in 161 countries over the 1996 2003 period. The validity is
questionable due to the time issue as the

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Oversight
As you can clearly see, the number of exceptions has remained relatively low for all compliance
categories. The highest number of TIL exceptions was in 2009 and resulted in a total of 65
exceptions for an exception rate of 16 percent. This graphical depiction clearly validates the
continued reporting by FCA of System compliance to the FRB/CFPB.
Does the System Need the CFPB?
The three primary reasons the System should be excluded from Consumer Financial Protection
Bureau Oversight are as follows:
a)System institutions have not and do not engage in risky behaviors that contributed to the
financial crisis of the early 2000s;
b)FCA borrower rights regulations that protect the borrower; and,
c)System institutions have traditionally generated a limited number of consumer loans.
Additionally, a primary factor in the financial crisis was unsustainable mortgage lending. Subprime
mortgages increased from eight percent of total mortgages in 2004 to twenty percent in 2006 with
more than 90 percent of these mortgages being adjustable rate mortgages allowing borrowers to
qualify for loans for which they did not have long term repayment capacity. Furthermore, lenders
lowered their loan underwriting standards especially for loan to appraised value and repayment
capacity to allow borrowers to obtain significantly larger loans than in the past. System institutions
did not participate in lowered lending standards. The System is prohibited by regulation from
making mortgage loans with

Dr. Seuss Ingenious Rhyming Scheme
Module 2
1.Shannon, David. No, David! New York: Scholastic, Inc., 1998. Print.
This is an excellent book for children 3 7 who may have difficulty understanding why they are
told no so often. The illustrations depict a mischief loving little boy with a large head and huge
smiles as he good naturedly causes pure chaos. Children are sure to find his antics hilarious.
However, along the way the book teaches that there is a good reason that the adult is telling the
boy no and even young kids can pick up on the logic behind the reprimand.
2.Seuss, Dr. The Cat in the Hat. New York: Random House, Inc., 1985. Print.
As always, Dr. Seuss ingenious rhyming scheme is creative as well as humorous. Kids will enjoy
the absurdity of the characters while learning about rhymes. The book also teaches that inviting
strangers into one s house is a very bad idea. It teaches this lesson firmly without introducing topics
that may scare young children. Overall, this book is a masterpiece and will continue to be popular
for many years to come.
3.Silverstein, Shel. The Giving Tree. New York: HarperCollins Publishers, 1985. Print.
While most kids won t understand the deeper meaning behind this book, the giving tree is a lovely
example of selfless, unconditional love. Children sometimes struggle to focus on people other than
themselves. The Giving Tree introduces how life can be lived completely in the service of others.
A teacher may use this book to encourage students to show more respect

Taxation Without Representation
Oppressors or Bullies? Taxation Without Representation Why weren t the thirteen colonies
willing to abide by England s laws? While some people were horrified with the Stamp Act, others
were completely accepting of this new act. Janis Herbert stated in her book, The American
Revolution for Kids, that after the French and Indian War, England had many debts, which
obviously needed to be paid (3). England s Parliament decided the American colonists needed to
pay their debts for them. England went about this matter by raising taxes and requiring a stamp
for fifty different documents (Gale Encyclopedia Par. 2). Since America was not yet a country,
and had no representation, they were trapped with the laws Parliament passed. Even though
England was trying to pay off their debts from the French Indian War, they went about it the
wrong way, because they expected the American colonists to pay by increased tax dollars. This is
an example of taxation without representation, because the American colonists didn t have
representatives, or the opportunity to vote. To help pay off their debt, England scheduled the
initiation of the Stamp Act, which placed a tax on fifty different documents, on November 1,
1765 (Gale Par. 2; Brindell 13). This act was to put a tax upon every paper commonly called a
pamphlet and upon every newspaper (Copeland 193). Because the Stamp Act was an internal tax,
which meant this tax law was only enforced in America, this made the colonists even

It was just six months away from MediSys s planned August 2009 launch of IntensCare, their new
remote monitoring system for use in hospitals intensive care units. The company was investing
$20.5 million in the new system, which represented the most ambitious project in the company s 10
year history.
Valerie Merz, marketingmanager for IntensCare, was feeling enormous pressure as she reviewed

3. Engineering Software design developed them into product specifications, passed those on to the
regulatory group who researched and, where necessary, conducted clinical trials to test prototypes
of the systems.
4. Once these specifications were finalized, they were passed on to the production group, which
arranged for the fabrication assembly of the products.
In August 2008, Beaumont introduced a new parallel system for product development in which a
core team of people assembled from all the critical functions R D, Marketing
Sales, Product Engineering, Software Design, Regulatory, and Production worked together
continuously to move a product from conceptual stage to final production. For every core team, a
project leader was designated to orchestrate its work, keep an eye on the complete project, secure
resources for the team, and serve as a liaison to senior management. Beaumont believed that the
project leader needed to have cross functional expertise, a track record of high performance, and
the respect of his or her colleagues.

development process. Conceptually, it fit their entrepreneurial and team like

The Commerce Clause And Its Effect On Interstate Commerce...
The Commerce Clause in Article 1, Section 8 states that Congress has the power to regulate
interstate commerce itself as well as the power to regulate local commerce if that local commerce
has a substantial economic effect on interstate commerce. When Congress regulates an intrastate
activity, there is a test that is used by the Supreme Court that determines whether Congress actually
has the right to regulate this intrastate activity with some sort of economic effect. The Commerce
Clausetest is one that also goes on to explain that it is not just about one instance where if there is a
substantial economic effect on interstate commerce, but as a whole having a substantial economic
effect. Also, if the activity does deal with interstate commerce that has an economic effect, then
Congress has the ability to regulate wages and any other instance of activity which includes all
workers even if the workers do not produce the commerce. Section 1001 of the PSA states Congress
intention to establish a nationwide program to protect the public from the adverse effects of tainted
and contaminated pharmaceutical products. Section 5001 of the PSA establishes licensing and
pharmaceutical production education requirements for individuals employed by any
pharmaceutical producer and sets maximum hours such individuals can work. One could then
argue that the Supreme Court is allowed to say that Section 5001 of the PSA is within Congress
power to set maximum hours and make people

Eyewitness Testimony Should Be Used In Court
Introduction
As time goes on, eyewitness testimony has become more and more of a disputed topic due to
many different factors. The first study I was exposed to was in an introductory psychology class
which sparked my interest into the topic. For this reason, I chose to look at different demographics
such as, gender and major, and see if those factors had any impact on the perception of eyewitness
testimony. My main issues remained the same throughout this research project. Research studies in
relation to eyewitness testimony have been going on for hundreds of years. A study done in 1999
by Marcus D. Durham and Francis C. Dane at Mercer University, looked at ways to assess
prospective jurors knowledge of the factors that may influence eyewitness behavior. Those factors
include topics such as race, memory processes, age, and stress. In addition, the researchers

eyewitness testimony should be used in court, while the other 50% of women (3) reported that they

The Debate Of Stem Cell Technology Essay
For my casebook, I decided to focus on the topic of stem cell technology. Stem cells are
nonspecialized cells that have the ability to divide for an indefinite length of time and develop
into a variety of cell types. This process primarily occurs early in a person s life while they are
still growing. Stem cells are also used regularly in some organs to repair damaged or worn out
tissue. Stem cells have been found to have many more clinical uses in recent years, though.
Stem cells have been the subject of much research in the scientific community. They have been
looked at as potential cures for everything from hair loss to paralysis. While many of these
claims are promising looks at what the future may hold, media has a tendency to exaggerate the
current status of what is capable with stem cells. This leaves many people guessing about what
is true, and what is just science fiction. The purpose of this casebook is to look at the gray area
of stem cells and help differentiate fact from fiction. I will do this by looking at three major
media outlets that talk about stem cells, and compare what I find with three definitive sources that
have the true facts about stem cells. From my results, we will be able to see how much major
media stretches the truth about stem cells. I used three popular news sources for my casebook. I
used an article from Men s Journal titled Does Stem CellTherapy Actually Work? . This article
relays information about stem cells to its audience in a

It is easy to say that species are constantly changing,...
It is easy to say that species are constantly changing, and branching off into totally new species.
But how do we know where the species originate? Phylogenies help to show us how all kinds of
species are related to each other, and why. These relationships are put into what can be called a
cladogram, which links species to common ancestors, in turn showing where, when, how, and why
these ancestors diverged to form new species. Without phylogenies, it would be extremely difficult
to put species in specific categories or relate them to one another. Along with phylogenies can come
conflict on which species should be related to one another. This conflict causes many hypotheses
and experiments, which can lead to phylogenetic retrofitting,... Show more content on

The parareptile hypothesis is taken back at least two decades. It has recently been rediscovered and
contradicted by parsimony. Bayesian inferences support this parareptile conclusion, but parsimony
concludes the idea of turtles being a sister group to pareiasaurs, which is an anapsid group,
including Eunotosaurus. To test these hypothesis, a multitude of data is compiled to observe the
stability behind the inferences made. In this article, one main experiment was discussed through
the collection and analysis of two retrofitted matrices, phylogenetic analyses, and molecular
scaffolds. In one matrice, Eunotosaurus was added to a diapsid focused data set, while turtles
were added to an anapsid focused data set. The diapsid sets included a broad sampling of diapsids,
which placed turtles as sisters to sauropterygians. The anapsid set, on the other hand, included a
broad sampling of anapsids, especially parareptiles. Turtles were not included in the anapsid set.
When the experiment moves on to the phylogenetic analysis, Bayesian inferences and parsimony
were brought into the mix. After these analyses, the experiment finally includes molecular
scaffolding. The effect of molecular scaffolding was to see where extant linneages interact with
molecular phylogenies. The, the Bayesian and parsimony analyses were again repeated with these
backbone constraints while everything else is indifferent. The idea

  • 3. The Honest Truth Of Dishonesty The Honest Truth Introduction The importance of individual honesty and trustworthiness has long been asserted as a characteristic of the morally noble and pure of heart. Since the early 14th century honesty has played an integral role in establishing credibility among colleagues, strengthening lawful legal systems, and classifying actions as morally acceptable or unacceptable. In recent years the idea of honesty has taken an abrupt halt and shifted towards the concept of dishonesty, a constantly growing enterprise formulated on incentives and misguided logic. This is the belief that a person s behavior is deceitful or fraudulent, and is often misconstrued as a trait of swindlers and the morally corrupt. However, dishonesty is a natural occurrence seen in every age, location, and culture and should be acknowledged as a defense mechanism seen in every individual. The Concept of Dishonesty The notion of dishonesty derived from three basic elements: (1) personal gain; (2) the probability of getting caught; and (3) punishment (Ariely 14). Recent studies from applied psychologists, such as Kang Lee, state that only after considering these key points does a person wallow in the act of deception. An example of this can be seen in Dan Ariely s Coke verses cash experiment. In this experiment, six packs of Coca Cola were placed in a dormitory refrigerator with a plate of one dollar bills. Within seventy two hours they found all of the cokes were gone albeit none of the money was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Similarities Between Phillis Wheatley And William Apess Both Phillis Wheatley and William Apess include theological orientation and religious rhetoric strategies in their writing but in different ways. Wheatley isn t necessarily concerned with narration in her poetry as Apess is in his writing. Her focus isn t really action, but ideas. In her text, her goals are to worship, discuss philosophies about Christianity, redemption, and history. The themes in her poetrycommunicate ideas of Christian devoutness, ethics, righteousness and death. A more in depth reading of her works will, however, reveal their anti slavery ideas as well as her objection to the subjugation of her race. She protests, stresses vengeance, and uses her powerful imagery to draw attention to her search for power, order, and progress. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theology Of Repentance And The Old Covenant Introduction of Theology of Repentance and Forgiveness When studying the nature of God or theology, one ascertains what God does and did for humanity. When reading the above scenario, repentance never occurred from my friend. Although I forgave him for the remarks, and it was several weeks until he finally repented or has remorse for making the comments, however, the initial response was not repentance. Before I reconnected with my friend, I used some of Sande s method. He states, Preparation is one of the most important elements of successful negotiation (Prov. 14:8, 22). This is especially true when significant issues or strong feelings are involved. Pray. I asked God to give me the right words to say, to keep me from being offensive. Study the Bible. • 6. Samsung Gear S3 Case Study Design In the battle of smartwatches Apple Watch Series 2 vs Samsung Gear S3 you couldn t get two more contrasting styles (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 , 2017). Watch designs will always be a very subjective thing (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 , 2017). What one person finds attractive, another would simply not have any smartwatch on their wrist (Sawh, wareable, 2017). Samsung Gear S3 took an approach differently than the Apple Watch Series 2 with a rotating bezel around the watch face allowing you to scroll through the Gear S3 s menu screens or to turn the volume down on your music. There are two different versions the Frontier and the Classic both look similar. The Classic is more of a dressy type of watch for work or a date. The Frontier is sportier for such as workouts, or some type of outdoor activity The Gear S3 comes is available in LTE version (Easton, 2016). Apple Watch Series 2 brings a traditional watch crown and added a modern twist by allowing you to scroll through notifications and even selecting apps in selected 38mm and 42mm cases available. The Series 2 brings a twice as bright screen then the original Apple Watch. As far as durability Samsung has carried out military standard testing to help it withstand high and low temperatures and a good amount of rough and tumble (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 , 2017). One of the biggest challenges faced by all smartwatch makers is trying to find different ways to make interacting with a smaller wrist worn device with a touchscreen display more intuitive (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 , 2017). Software Apple and Samsung have both relied on their operating systems optimized specifically for smartwatches (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 , 2017). Apple Watch Series 2 runs on watch OS 3, but currently has been upgraded to watch OS 4 (Sawh, Samsung Gear S3 vs Apple Watch Series 2 , 2017). Narcissistic Identity Identify With Conduct On Facebook Introduction Narcissism is a multiplex concept and represents different characteristics, demonstrative of both good and horrible practices (Kubarych et al, 2004) that may clarify the inspirations driving social networking sites use. In this way, conceptualizing narcissism as only a sole construct may make us misconstrue the ways in which social networking platforms are utilized to fulfill different psychological needs. • 12. Seamus Heaney s Mid Term Break Everybody knows the feeling of losing a loved one, a friend, or family member. Everyone has been to at least one funeral, and it s very sad and at times uncomfortable. The awkward interactions with people saying sorry or the feeling of seeing the ones you love be in such pain. In the poem, Mid term Break , published in 1966, Seamus Heaney touches this subject in every aspect. In Mid term Break Heaney tells the story of a young man whose brother has died and he comes home to the funeral. As the boy enters his house he sees things that are now different after the death of his brother. Heaney s words and use of poetic devices draws a picture of the sad scene. In this poem Heaney writes about a death which is typical for many of his poems. James Persoon, a writer for The Facts On File Companion to British Poetry, 1900 to Present, writes that Heaney here draws on his own experience in having an adolescent speaker reflect on the death of his four year old brother, for the poet s brother, Christopher, was killed in a car accident at age four in 1953. (Persoon). Not only can one see that Heaney s emotions were put into this poem but also his own life experiences. Losing a family member is hard enough, and it is even harder when that person is young because no one will ever know the full potential that person could have had if they had not died. The language Heaney uses allows the reader to see the importance of the main character. It also shows the significance of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oath Of Blood And Macbeth Comparison Marissa Rodriguez Mr. Ortiz English 12 2.27.17 Unit 3: Comparison Essay Throne of Blood is a film directed by Akira Kurosawa which is based on William Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of Macbeth Macbeth. While Macbeth takes place in Scotland, Throne of Blood is set in Japan. Macbeth is a tragic play that is mainly revolving around Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The play and film are two productions that are very similar but differ in the aspects of the plot events. Macbeth and his friend Banquo wandered into talking to three witches. The three witches tell Macbeth he s going to be king, but they also tell Banquo that his children will be in the royalty line. Macbeth takes interest in the possibility of being a king, but he doesn t pursue with any actions until his wife finds out about the prophecies. Eventually, it got to the point that murdering seemed normal to Macbeth considering the fact that he just sent murderers to the Macduff house. There was even a point in the play where Banquo, who was Macbeth s friend, questioned how far macbeth would pursue things and if he d be a loyal friend or let ambition take over him. High Performance Teams In today s business world, more and more organizations are moving away from the use of individual work assignments to a combination of manager led and self directing teams. These businesses are relying on groups of unique individuals to come together and work on a common goal with a shared purpose. The ultimate goal for these teams are to produce more than what the individuals could do separately. In order for those teams to accomplish this, they must become high performance teams. High performance teams consist of a small number of individuals with complementary skills, who are committed to a specific goal and mutually agree to hold each other accountable for their results. Those teams who make it to this level experience autonomy,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If it is a known fact that individuals tend to compare themselves to each other, then why are leaders in organizations so surprised that conflict, rivalry, or competition amongst teammembers occurs? Part of the reason is because while organizations have changed their thinking from an individualistic form of production to a collectivist form of teams, they have failed to change their form of recognition, incentives, motives, and culture to match. Organizations are promoting the idea of teams and working together for a common goal and purpose, all while offering incentives that are unchanged from the original idea of individual motivation and it is creating competition rather than the cooperation that they need for high performance teams (Beersma, Hollenbeck, Humphrey, Moon, Conlon, Ilgen, 2003). Unfortunately, there has been considerable controversy over the idea of competition and cooperation in teams. Some research shows that competition is beneficial, while others show that it creates the conflict organizations are trying to avoid. Therefore, it is important to examine the idea of competition and cooperation and seek to decide which is better to pursue. This compilation of stories was the framework for Smoke Signals, which won two awards at Sundance Film Festivals. It tells of the alcoholism, crime, relationships, and traditions of both the present and past residents of the reservation, as well as their ancestors before the reservation was in place. Overall this book is a representation of Native American lives both on and off of the reservation, with interaction with the white people and the governing forces of the reservation. Eliot use character from each of their respectable work including Hamlet, Agamemnon and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock to demonstrate one must responsibly be able to decide and take action in desperate times in order to prevent tragedy or greater loss. Through the text of these three prominent literacy works from the ancient history to the 1900 s, one element that is evident in all three literature works is hamartia, which is directly related to the protagonist making a tragic error that eventually leads to the final cataclysm. To get a deeper insight of how hamartia plays a big role in these works, the audience has to get a better understanding of the main character/protagonist of each play and get familiar with their personality traits along with how they act in desperate times in order to prevent tragedy, or be the cause of it. In this beautiful performance of Turandot, we see Maria Guleghina as Princess Turandot, Mariana Poplavskaya as Lui and Calaf as play by Marcello Giodani. With all of these talented actors and show personnel, this production remains one of the best known film adaptations of Turandot. The composer of Turandot is Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini, who was born on December 28, 1858 in the small town of Lucca Italy. Puccini came from 5 generations of musicians and began writing operas at the age of 21. His realistic verismo style, which means truth or reality in Italian, allowed him to identify with his characters in a realistic way and his operas reflect real life situations. Puccini liked to write operas with heroines rather than heroes. His operas almost always include a death for the sake of love. Despite his operatic genius, Puccini only wrote ten operas in his lifetime. He died on November 22, 1924 at the age of 66. At the time of his death, he was only one act short of completing Turandot. His close friend and fellow composer, Arturo Toscanini, finished Turandot shortly after his death. In previous time periods authors wrote very structured eventful stories that would often relate to the most common themes of the time, however Postmodernism completely defied this formula. In most cases Postmodern stories do not have story arcs nor do they have common themes. At most, the Post era can be bound by very vague similarities. Most of the stories are conveyed through streams of conscious, which is essentially using an unedited snippet of someone s life to create a story. There are no inner monologues or poetic speeches, rather they only showcase a small scale continuous sliver of life. The narration device similarity is cut and dry, however this can not be said for the themes within Postmodernism. In the vaguest of words, Post era literature can be bound within a common ideal of expressing the terrible and disappointing aspects of life. One of the most commonly attacked aspects of life is the sense of love. In most forms of art and media love is portrayed as a glorious thing so long as it is true. Love can conquer any mountain and defeat any foe, however Postmodernism portrays love in a very different manner. In The Swan as a Metaphor for Love love is compared to a swan. Analysis Of The Poem Mark Strand Jamie Wiederholt Mrs. Carson AP Literature 8 December 2015 Mark Strand Mark Strand once said, For some of us, the less said about the way we do things the better. (Strand). In this he might have been referring to his poems. He wrote straightforward surrealistic poems about the nature of life with ambiguous speakers. It is common to see in his poems a story being told without actually telling one. In this way there is a sense of who the speaker is, who the poet is, and a peculiar train of thought expressed with very precise words. Mark Strand was greatly influenced by his time period. The influence of surrealism, a popular form of art in the twentieth century, is prevalent throughout his poems. Mark Strand states in his poet laureate interview that he wished to be like the other poets of his time. He was influenced by Wallace Stevens and Lorca when he was a college student at Yale. In college, he started as an artist and ended as a poet (Nordhaus). His poem, Eating Poetry expresses his love for poetry in a curious way, I have been eating poetry (3). To help bring to light his own personal feelings, he uses surrealistic imagery. He enjoys poetry to an extent that words cannot express, but he does the impossible with this poem when he expresses his enjoyment through the consumption of poetry. Bonfiglioli states in their quality standards that they are committed to supplying effective products and go on to say they will never compromise on safety, compliance or quality2. As a business, it is in their best interests to do so as cost effectively as possible; keeping both these points in mind will help to analyse the various parts of the gearbox and assess possible materials used, as well as manufacturing processes performed. 2.1 Worm shaft 2.1.1 Function The input shaft has a keyway cut which enables the motor to rotate the worm; this in turn results in the worm wheel rotating due to contact between the worm thread and the teeth of the worm wheel3. In order for the gearbox to continuously perform this function smoothly and efficiently over time it is important that the worm shaft s material is carefully considered to avoid the three principle factors that will influence performance1. 2.1.2 Materials With the worm screw being in constant contact with the worm wheel, there has to be consideration of wear due to friction when selecting the material. In order to avoid amounts of wear that will be detrimental to performance, the shaft s material must have a high surface hardness1. It s important that this is achieved without the hardening of the entire thread because this will result in the material becoming more brittle. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Taxation Without Representation Oppressors or Bullies? Taxation Without Representation Why weren t the thirteen colonies willing to abide by England s laws? While some people were horrified with the Stamp Act, others were completely accepting of this new act. Janis Herbert stated in her book, The American Revolution for Kids, that after the French and Indian War, England had many debts, which obviously needed to be paid (3). England s Parliament decided the American colonists needed to pay their debts for them. England went about this matter by raising taxes and requiring a stamp for fifty different documents (Gale Encyclopedia Par. 2). Since America was not yet a country, and had no representation, they were trapped with the laws Parliament passed. Even though England was trying to pay off their debts from the French Indian War, they went about it the wrong way, because they expected the American colonists to pay by increased tax dollars. This is an example of taxation without representation, because the American colonists didn t have representatives, or the opportunity to vote. To help pay off their debt, England scheduled the initiation of the Stamp Act, which placed a tax on fifty different documents, on November 1, 1765 (Gale Par. 2; Brindell 13). Some, however, force their point of views on the readers, but there are the ones that reveal both sides forcing the reader to formulate their own take on President Trump and his claim on the booming market. The reporting done today usually have inner motives weaved into their stories. They deliver their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It does not directly attack Trump but provides statistical evidence from the past. It detracts from the politics and offers both sides on the what ifs . Sommer even includes in his article Based on the long history of the stock market, it s possible to conclude that Mr. Trump s behavior in office doesn t matter (Sommer). It does not completely bash on one side either but gives a theoretical standpoint if it goes in two ways. It forces the reader to question both sides as it offers both different extremes. It also provides a standpoint even with the crashes, the stock market has been historically the best since 1926 at keeping the value of money. He does not provide any evidence on Trump s current agenda or how it will affect it, but instead relies on the history of the stock market. His focus is stepping back as if Trump was never elected and how the stock market will react. He s not trying to prove that President Trump is the end all or be all on the stock market, but gives the reader a different perspective on how history has acted with the stock ... • 58. The Debate Of Stem Cell Technology Essay For my casebook, I decided to focus on the topic of stem cell technology. Stem cells are nonspecialized cells that have the ability to divide for an indefinite length of time and develop into a variety of cell types. This process primarily occurs early in a person s life while they are still growing. Stem cells are also used regularly in some organs to repair damaged or worn out tissue. Stem cells have been found to have many more clinical uses in recent years, though. Stem cells have been the subject of much research in the scientific community. They have been looked at as potential cures for everything from hair loss to paralysis. While many of these claims are promising looks at what the future may hold, media has a tendency to exaggerate the current status of what is capable with stem cells. This leaves many people guessing about what is true, and what is just science fiction. The purpose of this casebook is to look at the gray area of stem cells and help differentiate fact from fiction. I will do this by looking at three major media outlets that talk about stem cells, and compare what I find with three definitive sources that have the true facts about stem cells. From my results, we will be able to see how much major media stretches the truth about stem cells. I used three popular news sources for my casebook. I used an article from Men s Journal titled Does Stem CellTherapy Actually Work? . This article relays information about stem cells to its audience in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 59. It is easy to say that species are constantly changing,... It is easy to say that species are constantly changing, and branching off into totally new species. But how do we know where the species originate? Phylogenies help to show us how all kinds of species are related to each other, and why. These relationships are put into what can be called a cladogram, which links species to common ancestors, in turn showing where, when, how, and why these ancestors diverged to form new species. Without phylogenies, it would be extremely difficult to put species in specific categories or relate them to one another. Along with phylogenies can come conflict on which species should be related to one another. This conflict causes many hypotheses and experiments, which can lead to phylogenetic retrofitting,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The parareptile hypothesis is taken back at least two decades. It has recently been rediscovered and contradicted by parsimony. Bayesian inferences support this parareptile conclusion, but parsimony concludes the idea of turtles being a sister group to pareiasaurs, which is an anapsid group, including Eunotosaurus. To test these hypothesis, a multitude of data is compiled to observe the stability behind the inferences made. In this article, one main experiment was discussed through the collection and analysis of two retrofitted matrices, phylogenetic analyses, and molecular scaffolds. In one matrice, Eunotosaurus was added to a diapsid focused data set, while turtles were added to an anapsid focused data set. The diapsid sets included a broad sampling of diapsids, which placed turtles as sisters to sauropterygians. The anapsid set, on the other hand, included a broad sampling of anapsids, especially parareptiles. Turtles were not included in the anapsid set. When the experiment moves on to the phylogenetic analysis, Bayesian inferences and parsimony were brought into the mix. After these analyses, the experiment finally includes molecular scaffolding. The effect of molecular scaffolding was to see where extant linneages interact with molecular phylogenies. The, the Bayesian and parsimony analyses were again repeated with these backbone constraints while everything else is indifferent. The idea ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
