Moving To America Essay
I walked around unsteadily all day like a lost baby, far away from its pack. Surrounded by
unfamiliar territory and uncomfortable weather, I tried to search for any signs of similarities with
my previous country. I roamed around from place to place and moved along with the day, wanting
to just get away and go back home. This was my first day in the United States of America.
A few months before all of this I was pleased with my calm life in a local city of Taiwan. I settled
there at the age of two with my family, and things were going well so far. Because I lived there for
ten years, the longest time that I ever spent living in one place, I had made really good friends and
was not looking forward to any significant changes although my...show more content...
At first, my reaction was somewhat neutral, not even panic or shivering. I didn?t know how to
feel. I didn?t immediately realize the effects that this major change would have on me. I mean that
I cannot believe right away, this happens too fast. I didn?t know how it would feel to live in a
completely different country and new house. I didn?t instantly acknowledge the effect that leaving
my friends would have on me. I didn?t anticipate the constant emotional frustration of being forced
to leave my closest friends. I didn?t know how it would feel to be the new kid in school. I did not
even know how to speak and write English at that time. I cannot image that I have to restart
everything in my life. And I was too scared to think about the difficulty to fit with all the new things
around.
After some time, these facts began to sink in. I would no longer wake up and walk into the same
bathroom, walk down the same stairs, or eat in the same kitchen. I would no longer take the same
walking route to school along with my friends. I would no longer have the same lasting
neighborhood friends to socialize with. I would no longer take the same classes in school, talk to
the same teachers, or even take notes the same way. However, I did not realize some of the other, not
as despondent, impacts that changing environments would have until being ?new? for a few

Immigration in USA Essay
The United States of America is the best place for immigration. The history proved that the United
States was the dream land, the place of chances. That started when Europeans escaped form their
countries because there were no jobs and no safe places to live. America became the best choice for
people who were looking for political asylum, jobs, or freedom, but after a few generations
something changed the Americans look to immigrants as strangers and they forgot where they are
from because America is multicultural place and immigration movement should be understandable,
but this is not the case. Governments should develop good laws for immigrants by giving rights to
immigrants to stay in America, to protect them, and to allow people who...show more content...
At first the government supported open immigration in the open and settled land, but after the
Civil War while, states began to pass their own immigration regulations and immigrating become
more difficult. The Supreme Court decided immigration would be under federal jurisdiction in
1875, and Congress created the Department of Immigration in 1891. Since 1900 to 1921,
Congress created the "quota system," which gave authorization for a specified number of
individuals of all ethnic groups in immigration like most Asian nations (Wellman, Cole). The
government has also put provisions designed to encourage migration of certain kinds of workers
who have lost the skills from the current population. In 1924, as the fears of the immigrants
fleeing from border increased, Congress set up the first Office of border control to watch the
immigrants from Canada and Mexico. Immigration numbers decreased significantly around 1925
and 1945 In 1948, Congress made a temporary revision to the immigration policy to allow people
displaced by World War II to be in America. in 1952, Congress made the McCarran
–Walter
Immigration and Nationality law, which officially canceled any remaining limitations on the
grounds of race, and immigration to people of any nation. The McCarran– Walter immigration and
nationality law improved political growth (Schrag). Therefore, in 1965, Congress abandoned the
quota system and the acceptance of immigration, based on the

Us Population Essay example
Characteristics of the U.S. population in 2025 The United States is the third most populated country
in the world. This country holds about 4.5% of the world's population. The U.S. population is
currently estimated to have 308.7 million persons. This number is more than double of the
population from 1950. Besides the fact of the population has doubled its size, the population has also
become qualitatively different from the one from 1950. As noted by the Population Reference
Bureau, "The U.S. is getting bigger, older, and more diverse." The growth of the population is the
result of the trends over time in the relationship of increased births, decreased deaths, and increased

Population, by Age Group: 1950–2050
Besides the total size of the population, one of the most significant demographic characteristics of a
population is the age and sex structure. The immigration has had a major influence on both the size
and the age structure of the U.S. population. The U.S. population has experienced remarkable growth
since 1950. The number of women slightly outnumbered the men. U.S. Population, by Sex,
1950–2050, in Millions
In general, countries experiencing high fertility and rapid population growth, have a "young"
population structure and the important policy considerations are if there are enough schools and,
sufficient jobs and housing to accommodate this population. Countries with "old" population
structures face the problems of structuring and developing retirement and health systems to serve
this older population and also they have a considerable reduction the number of the working force.
The decline of the work force is one of the most dramatic economic tendencies of the past four
decades in the United States. The individual's decision of whether to stay in the workforce or to
retire is based on the collaboration of a number of factors including the following: eligibility for
Social Security benefits, availability of and benefits under an employer–financed pension plan, work

Education in America Essays
Education in America
Education in the United States is a very crucial part of a person's life. Going to school opens doors
and facilitates the pathway for future individual achievement and economic success. Formal
education is a conscious effort by human society to convey the skills and modes of thought
considered essential for social functioning.
According to the census 2000, the total number of people in school between nursery and high school
is approximately 57 million. Out of those 57 million, roughly 49 million are in public school. In
students 15 – 17 years old, 30.8 % are below the modal grade. Furthermore, between 10 through 12
graders the annual dropout rate is 4.7%. Continuing education to the college level is a very...show

Today, however, it seems as if the public has lost track of the importance of a great educational
system. The main issue today's public schools faces are funding problems. There is not enough
money allocated to support the growing needs of school across the nation.
Most of the other problems the schools face are directly related to the funding issue. Buildings
are run down and sometimes mobile because of the lack of finances. No child wants to go to
school in a dreary building that smells bad. It makes it hard to concentrate and hard to study in
buildings such as this. Every school has some type of sport being played by the students. For
some, sports are the only reason they do not drop out of school. However, if finances are not
available then the school should focus mostly on the education of all of its students as a whole,
not just a few who think they cannot make it without sports. Without the financial issues, schools
have even more problems. School violence is becoming more and more common. School should
be a place where children come to learn and be with their peers, in a very good environment. It
should not be a place where children are afraid to go because of the anger or hurt of other children.
This is probably the major issue of the public today.
No matter what the issue, schools have important issues that they have to work around and with

Essay about U.S. Economy
The United States economy is currently not looking very good. Over the past couple of months
the economy has taken a turn for the worst and we could be headed into a recession in the coming
months or years. The biggest problems are in the real estate and mortgage markets. In 1999,
housing prices rose at huge rates and lenders began offering riskier mortgages, which caused
homeowners to keep piling up huge debts. People were taking out loans and balloon mortgage
payments that they really could not afford. The problem began in late 2007, when housing prices
began to fall and the system fell apart causing huge numbers of defaults on home loans and
foreclosures. Currently, 5.6% of mortgages are delinquent, the highest rate in 21 years, and...show

The housing crisis that I mentioned earlier and resulting backlash through the entire economy has
been building for awhile now but it has just came into the forefront in the past couple of weeks.
We really haven't faced a downturn like this since the Depression. Last Tuesday, January 22, the
Dow Jones industrial average fell almost 600 points and was already down 9% in 2008 (Gross 1).
Immediately the Federal Reserve took action and cut the interest rates three–quarters of a percentage
point, the biggest cut in 24 years. Today, not even a week later, the Fed again cut interest rates, this
time by a half–point (Aversa 1). This move is an effort to keep the economy out of a recession by
getting money back into the banks and encouraging them to keep lending credit to turn the
economy upward. Whether or not it will work remains to be seen in the coming months. The
government also announced another move to a couple weeks ago to help get the economy going
again and avoid or slow down a recession. President Bush and the House are currently developing a
$145 billion stimulus plan that would give tax relief to citizens by sending them individual checks
for $300 and up. The plan would put over $100 billion into the hands of consumers and the
government hopes that money would be spent and put back into the economy (Wolf 1). While all
these things are good news for the struggling economy, most economic experts believe that a
recession of some kind may be impossible to avoid

The U.S. Constitution Essay
A constitution is a written document that sets forth the fundamental rules by which a society is
governed. Throughout the course of history the United States has lived under two Constitutions
since the British–American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain in 1776. First in
line was the Articles of Confederation (1789–1789) followed by the Constitution of United States of
America (1789–present). The Articles of Confederation was the first formal written Constitution of
America that specified how the national government was to operate. Unfortunately, the Articles did
not last long. Under the words of the Article's power was limited; Congress could make decisions,
but had no power to enforce them. Also the articles stated...show more content...
At the Constitutional Convention, delegates strongly believed in the rule of the majority, but at the
same time delegates wanted to protect minorities from any unjustness done by the majority. In order
to do this they separated and balanced out the powers of the national government in different
branches. Other basic constitutional aims that rose up at the Constitutional Convention were
separation of church and state, rights for individuals and states, ruled by the people {Americans],
and supremacy of the national government.
The Constitution pays a massive role in court decisions both in the federal and state cases. If the
State Supreme Court cannot come to a decision on a case, the case will be turned over to the
Supreme Court who has the final authority in interpreting the meaning of the Constitution in any
case. The courts also have the power of judicial review–to declare a law unconstitutional. Due to the
decision of Chief Justice John Marshall the Supreme Court has this power from the case of
Marbury v. Madison in 1801. The case Marbury v. Madison took place during the election of 1800
when Thomas Jefferson defeated President John Adams, but the new administration did not take
office until March of 1801. When the new administration took office James Madison (Secretary of
State) discovered that some commissions were not delivered. One of the people whose commission
had not been received

No child wants to go to school in a dreary building that smells bad. It makes it hard to concentrate and hard to study in buildings such as this. Every school has some type of sport being played by the students. For some, sports are the only reason they do not drop out of school. However, if finances are not available then the school should focus mostly on the education of all of its students as a whole, not just a few who think they cannot make it without sports. Without the financial issues, schools have even more problems. School violence is becoming more and more common. School should be a place where children come to learn and be with their peers, in a very good environment. It should not be a place where children are afraid to go because of the anger or hurt of other children. This is probably the major issue of the public today. No matter what the issue, schools have important issues that they have to work around and with everyday to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay about U.S. Economy The United States economy is currently not looking very good. Over the past couple of months the economy has taken a turn for the worst and we could be headed into a recession in the coming months or years. The biggest problems are in the real estate and mortgage markets. In 1999, housing prices rose at huge rates and lenders began offering riskier mortgages, which caused homeowners to keep piling up huge debts. People were taking out loans and balloon mortgage payments that they really could not afford. The problem began in late 2007, when housing prices began to fall and the system fell apart causing huge numbers of defaults on home loans and foreclosures. Currently, 5.6% of mortgages are delinquent, the highest rate in 21 years, and...show more content... The housing crisis that I mentioned earlier and resulting backlash through the entire economy has been building for awhile now but it has just came into the forefront in the past couple of weeks. We really haven't faced a downturn like this since the Depression. Last Tuesday, January 22, the Dow Jones industrial average fell almost 600 points and was already down 9% in 2008 (Gross 1). Immediately the Federal Reserve took action and cut the interest rates three–quarters of a percentage point, the biggest cut in 24 years. Today, not even a week later, the Fed again cut interest rates, this time by a half–point (Aversa 1). This move is an effort to keep the economy out of a recession by getting money back into the banks and encouraging them to keep lending credit to turn the economy upward. Whether or not it will work remains to be seen in the coming months. The government also announced another move to a couple weeks ago to help get the economy going again and avoid or slow down a recession. President Bush and the House are currently developing a $145 billion stimulus plan that would give tax relief to citizens by sending them individual checks for $300 and up. The plan would put over $100 billion into the hands of consumers and the government hopes that money would be spent and put back into the economy (Wolf 1). While all these things are good news for the struggling economy, most economic experts believe that a recession of some kind may be impossible to avoid Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. The U.S. Constitution Essay A constitution is a written document that sets forth the fundamental rules by which a society is governed. Throughout the course of history the United States has lived under two Constitutions since the British–American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain in 1776. First in line was the Articles of Confederation (1789–1789) followed by the Constitution of United States of America (1789–present). The Articles of Confederation was the first formal written Constitution of America that specified how the national government was to operate. Unfortunately, the Articles did not last long. Under the words of the Article's power was limited; Congress could make decisions, but had no power to enforce them. Also the articles stated...show more content... At the Constitutional Convention, delegates strongly believed in the rule of the majority, but at the same time delegates wanted to protect minorities from any unjustness done by the majority. In order to do this they separated and balanced out the powers of the national government in different branches. Other basic constitutional aims that rose up at the Constitutional Convention were separation of church and state, rights for individuals and states, ruled by the people {Americans], and supremacy of the national government. The Constitution pays a massive role in court decisions both in the federal and state cases. If the State Supreme Court cannot come to a decision on a case, the case will be turned over to the Supreme Court who has the final authority in interpreting the meaning of the Constitution in any case. The courts also have the power of judicial review–to declare a law unconstitutional. Due to the decision of Chief Justice John Marshall the Supreme Court has this power from the case of Marbury v. Madison in 1801. The case Marbury v. Madison took place during the election of 1800 when Thomas Jefferson defeated President John Adams, but the new administration did not take office until March of 1801. When the new administration took office James Madison (Secretary of State) discovered that some commissions were not delivered. One of the people whose commission had not been received Get more content on HelpWriting.net
