4. The history of the United States traditionally starts with
the Declaration of Independence in the year 1776. The
largest settlements were by the English on the East
Coast, starting in 1607. By the 1770s the Thirteen
Colonies contained two and half million people, were
prosperous, and had developed their own political and
legal systems. The British government's threat to
American self-government led to war in 1775. With
major military and financial support from France, the
patriots won the American Revolution.
In 1789 the Constitution became the basis for
the United States federal government, with
war hero George Washington as the first
president. The young nation continued to
struggle with the scope of central government
and with European influence, creating the
first political parties in the 1790s, and fighting
a second war for independence in 1812. The
1860 election of Abraham Lincoln, who called
for no more expansion of slavery, triggered a
crisis as eleven slave states seceded to found
the Confederate States of America in 1861.

He was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996 and U.S.
Senate in 2004. Barack Obama became the president
of the United States of America in 2009.

Hot summers are the north throughout the US.
Spring and autumn (fall) conditions are generally
mild, warm and sunny - but also wet in some areas,
particularly the Pacific Northwest. Tornado season
arrives in the Midwest between April and June, and
hurricanes are common in early summer along the
southern East Coast and Gulf of Mexico coast.

• A traditional American breakfast is usually eggs prepared either
sunny side up, scrambled, or as an omelet, with either bacon, ham,
or sausage, toasted bread and hash browns. Pancakes or waffles
sprinkled with maple syrup may also be served. Orange juice and
coffee are the most popular drinks.
The most traditional All-American lunch is a burger and fries with
a Coke to drink. Other popular options are pizza, hot dogs,
sandwiches, salads, and soups.
The most common and traditional dinner is meat with potatoes
and another veggie.Turkey and fish can be served as well. The
potatoes are usually mashed. Peas, green beans, carrots, or corn
are usually the second vegetable side. Cow's milk and bread with
butter is usually served with this meal as well.
Desserts include pie, especially apple (which is an American
classic), cookies (chocolate chip is the most common), ice cream,
or frosted cake.

New York is a state in the Northeastern
region of the United States. New York is the 27th most
extensive, the 3rd most populous, and the 7th most
densely populated of the 50 United States. New York is
bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the
south, and by Connecticut, Massachusetts and
Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border
with Rhode Island east of Long Island, as well as an
international border with the Canadian provinces of
Ontario to the west and north, and Quebec to the
north. The state of New York is often referred to as
New York State to distinguish it from New York City.
New York City, with a population of over 8.1 million, is
the most populous city in the United States.

Chicago is the largest city in the US state
of Illinois and the third most populous city in the
United States, with around 2.7 million residents.[1]
Its metropolitan area, sometimes called "Chicago
land," is the third largest in the United States, with
an estimated 9.8 million people within its
metropolitan area. Chicago is the county seat of
Cook County.Chicago was incorporated as a town
in 1837, near a portage between the Great Lakes
and the Mississippi River watershed.[8] Today, the
city retains its status as a major hub for industry,
telecommunications and infrastructure, with O'Hare
International Airport being the second busiest
airport in the world in terms of traffic movements.
