JOB NATURE IN THE US MARKET
There are two major types of placements in the US market.
 Permanent (Full Time) Placement
 Temporary( Contract) Placement
Permanent Placement:
The company hires person on permanent( Long term) basis. Company
has to provide salary, all kinds of placements.
Temporary( Contract) Placement:
The term contracting refers to a situation in which a person works for a
company who is not his/her employer of record. A contract placement can
happen in a matter of hours or a couple of days.
US VISA AND TAX TERMS
 US Citizens
 Green Card Holders (GC) : The person is authorized to live
and work in the United States of America on a permanent basis.
 EAD - Employment Authorization Document, this status is
provided to those H1 holders whose GC is about to be
confirmed in few months.
 H-1B Visa : People who are sponsored by their employers who
are being permitted by US to work in US for some specific time.
The duration of stay is three years, extendable to six years

 TN Visa ( North American Free Trade Agreement - NAFTA)
Permit Holder / Canadian Citizens - They do not require any H1
and will only be requiring an employment letter and can get a TN
permit (allows them to work in US in a matter of couple of hours
from Canadian Authorities and start working in US
 Corp to Corp (C2C) : An arrangement where a corporation that
has a job hires another corporation to hire, insure, and take care
of the tax and legal responsibilities of hiring an employee to fill
this job
 1099 : Equal to self-employed and no taxes withheld but taxes
paid on either quarterly basis or annual basis based upon term
of project.
