This is a short presentation to demystify, explain and encourage participation in the upcoming 2020 Census!

2. The United States counts every person living in the US
every ten years.
This count is called the Census.

3. April 2020
• By April 1,2020, every
person will be counted.
• Citizens
• Non-Citizens
• Visitors
• Immigrants

4. Is it safe?
Yes!
The Census will not ask about immigration or visa
status.
Your information will not be shared.

5. Is it important? Yes!
(For about 675 Billion dollars)
The number of people counted decides how much
money your town or state will get for:
• Housing
• Schools
• Programs like SNAP and Medicaid
• Transportation and other services

6. In March 2020, your household
will receive an invitation to
complete the Census questions.
• # of people living at your address
• Each person’s name, age, birthday
• How you are related
• Phone Number
• Do you rent or own your home

7. How can you answer the Census
questions?
• Online (in 7 languages)
• Phone (in 13 languages)
• Paper
• Visit the library for FREE Internet access and
more information

8. COUNT EVERYONE!!!
• Count ALL persons living at your address, even if they are not
family members!
• Don’t forget the babies!

9. The Census will NEVER ask about your bank
account OR for money OR your social security
number on the phone, online or at your door.

10. All Census workers will wear an ID badge
with their name, photo and special seal.

11. In May, Census workers may
come to homes if no one has
responded.
They must have an ID to talk to you about the
Census.
