1. Clauses of Purposes (Reasons)
They/ start /campaign/ raise/ money
Why do they start a campaign? Because:
 They start a campaign to raise money.
 They start a campaign in order to raise money.
 They start a campaign so as to raise money.
 They start a campaign so that they can/ will raise money. (Present)
 They started a campaign so that they could / would raise money. (Past)
 They start a campaign for raising money.
 They start a campaign with a view to raising money.
With a view to = with the aim/ goal of doing something:
 They start a campaign for money.

2.  In case = because something may happen
Present: Why do I leave my mobile phone on?!
Leave your mobile phone on in case I need to call you
in case I need to call you = because I may need to call you
 Past: Why did they make sandwiches?
They made sandwiches in case they got hungry.
in case they got hungry = because they may get hungry

3. Negative Purpose (Reasons)
Why did you write the names? Because (not):
 I wrote the names not to forget them.
 I wrote the names so as not to forget them.
 Why did the teacher close the book? Because (not):
The teacher closed the book to prevent the student from
reading it.
