Abstract Diagnosis is the first step before giving a medicine to the patient. In the recent past such diagnosis is performed using medical images where segmentation is the prime part in the medical image retrieval which improves the feature set that is collected from the segmented image. In this paper, it is proposed to segment the medical image a semi decision algorithm that can segment only the tumor part from the CT image. Further texture based techniques are used to extract the feature vector from the segmented region of interest. Medical images under test are classified using decision tree classifier. Results show better performance in terms of accuracy when compared to the conventional methods. Key Words: Medical Images, Decision Tree Classifier, Segmentation, Semi-decision algorithm

In recent years Brain tumor is one of the most commonly found causes for death among children and adults. Early detection of tumor is a must in order to reduce the death rate. For tumor detection various image techniques can be used. In this paper we mainly concentrate on the images obtained from MRI scans. In MRI images, the tumor may appear clearly, but for further treatment the physician need to be a qualified and well experienced person. In order to help the radiologist in detection computer-aided diagnosis was developed. The generation of a CAD system consists of several processes and among them segmentation is considered to the most important process. Image Segmentation is a process of partitioning an image into multiple segments. The main objective of segmentation is to represent the image into a simplified form so as to increase the efficiency and accuracy of the system. Therefore the segmentation of brain tumor can be considered as an important role in the medical image process. Hence in this paper we concentrate on the recently used segmentation techniques for the detection of tumor using MRI images.

Medical image data is growing rapidly. Lung cancer considers to be the most common cause of death among people throughout the world. Early lung cancer detection can increase the chance of people survival. The 5 year survival rate for lung cancer patient increases from 14 to 49% if the disease is detected in time. Computed Tomography can be more efficient than X ray for detecting lung cancer in time. But the problem seemed to merge due to time constraint in detecting the presence of lung cancer.MAT LAB have been applied for the study of these techniques. Feature selection is a method to reduce the number of features in medical applications where the image has hundreds or thousands of features. In order to extract the accurate features of an image, an image need to be processed for its effective retreival.Image feature selection is an essential task for recognizing the image and it can be done for overcoming classification problems. However, the quality of the image recognition tasks can be improved with the help of better classification accuracy for enhancing the retrieval performance.

Telemedicine is a well-known application, where enormous amount of medical data need to be securely transfer over the public network and manipulate effectively. Medical image watermarking is an appropriate method used for enhancing security and authentication of medical data, which is crucial and used for further diagnosis and reference. This paper discusses the available medical image watermarking methods for protecting and authenticating medical data. The paper focuses on algorithms for application of watermarking technique on Region of Non Interest (RONI) of the medical image preserving Region of Interest (ROI). The medical images can be transferred securely by embedding watermarks in RONI allowing verification of the legitimate changes at the receiving end without affecting ROI.
