 When modeling a website it is important to maintain
functionality with creativity. I will be demonstrating
the flow of a website with three basic elements.
 Concept
 Colour
 Tone
 With these three core elements you can turn a
website into a functional masterpiece.
Project

 Having a fully functional website is super important
when attracting an audience, but they may also be
repelled to visit it if the designs of the site are
unappealing.
 A proper colour palette for the website is really
important for visibility and readability of content.
 A common theme for your website should go with a
certain colour set to make everything flow together.
Design Challenges

 A visual perspective of a design for your website that
will meld everything together.
 Here are a few examples of websites that really put
design around a concept on their page.
Concept

 This redesign for Facebook is super clean and
uncluttered. The content is spread out more making
it easier to find content.

 Bringing everything to the front page so you do not have to go looking for
what you want to find. This YouTube concept brings your channel profile
into a sidebar with suggested channels and categories for you to choose
from. The upload button is also conveniently place at the top middle of the
page where it should be on the actual site.

 The new design for the Yellow pages website has made
over the whole website to include a lot more imagery and
smart tools to find the destination you are looking for.

 Colour is very important to the design of a website.
You can easily attract someone to your page if the
colours you use are presentable and attractive.
 Someone could be drawn into your website just for
the fact that they enjoy the colours.
Colour

 stephengacheru.me is a great example of a black and
white website that only uses one expressive colour to
make everything stand out.

 Atticus pet design uses very modernesque colours to
show off the content on the website and divides
content by a brighter aqua colour.

 melonfree.com uses multiple tones of the same
colour to show off its content.

 Your website should be interesting and keep the user
excited to be there and explore everything you have
to offer.
Tone

 Stheartclothing.com is a great example of website that loves the
show you what you are there to do, buy clothes! It has a gallery of
all the models wearing all the articles of clothes so you know what
to look forward to and shows you the latest seasonal line sorted
into men's and women's styles.

 Steampowered.com really shows off what you are supposed to be
doing on their website by bringing you straight to the store and not
their about page. Their wide variety of games is sure to excite users
by showing them how much they have to offer as well as how
many daily users interact with Steam.

 I would love to review what I have shown you and
your thoughts for the design of your website.
 I look forward to hearing from you soon and am
excited to get started!
Thanks!
