Perry And Bussey s Theory Of Sex Essay
Perry and Bussey s (1979) study was motivated as a rebuttal to Maccoby and Jacklin s (1974)
claim that research and studies done up until then failed to give significant support to the theory
that sex differentials based on same sex model imitation as a mechanism for sex role development
was unimportant. Perry and Bussey contended this notion on two fronts. They repute current design
models used to test imitation of same sexmodels, stating that children are oftentimes given a single
stranger as a role model, maleor female, who preform mundane tasks and are then tested for
imitation of the model s response (Perry and Bussey, 1979, p.1700). This is nowhere near
reminiscent of real life scenarios in which a child has multiple examples of both same and
opposite sex models to compare and contrast sex appropriate social and cultural responses. They
also re examined how children code sex typing displays into long term memory by looking at
how children respond to models they found themselves to be similar to. To that end, Perry and
Bussey set up two related experiments that where designed to determine a) how might a child s
endorsement of an item be influenced by the frequencies with which same versus opposite sex
models display similar preferences and b) does the child imitate said same sex model more often
when they believe the model s behavior is appropriate due to a clear indication that the model is
behaving typically for his or her sex. In the first experiment Perry

My Unknown Colonies
Unknown #3 Report To start off unknown #3, I picked out O17 from rack A and wrote down
my name, date, class, and I first noticed the broth was a light yellow that was quite cloudy or
milky. Soon later I streaked my organism onto a TSA plate and incubated it at 37oC for 24
hours, t was almost a perfect plate. There was no contamination; I could tell it there was only
one species on the plate and that it was okay for me to move on. There were many isolated
colonies in quadrants 3 and 4. The colonies were small and white in color, it was not translucent.
I then began to make my 2 slants, inoculating a straight line on each slant, I incubated it at 37oC
for 24 hours. The next day, I made sure my slants were pure and also there was a thick line of
organism where I had inoculated with a yellow white color. Now I was ready to begin making my
slides and start staining. I used E. Coli and S. Aureus next to my unknown to help me... Show more

When checking the results, H2S was negative, there were no black precipitants in the tube, and
the organism was motile. After recording those results, I went to the hood to add Kovoc s reagent
to the SIMs and waited for about 30 minutes before observing to get the results, and it came out to
be negative for indole as well. At this point, only one organism matched every result that I received
during all my tests, I decided to do my confirmation test. I did Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer
tests for my confirmation test. After inoculating the MRVP broth and incubating it at 37oC for 120
hours, I took my separated samples to the hood and added in the Methyl Red in one tube and
reagent A then B in the other tube, I mixed it and checked in on both tubes after every 10 minutes.
About 45 minutes later it was clear what the results were, negative for methyl red and positive for
Voges Proskauer. That confirmed that my unknown O17 was Enterobacter

The Progressive Movement From 1901-1917
From 1901 1917 was the progressive movement initiated as a response to political and corporate
abuses at the turn of the twentieth century religious groups members of the press and radical

creation of a socialist government .President Theodore Rooseveltsupported the movement by
embracing environmental conservation ,forcing arbitration .
Progressives wanted to reform elections to make them fairer and to make politicians more
accountable to voters .they pushed for the direct primary ,an election in which voters choose

Debate Controversy Regarding Free Speech And Hate Speech
Recent events have found UC Berkeley embroiled in controversy regarding Free Speech; debate
has flared over what Free Speech really means, where we draw the line between Free Speech and
hate speech, and what the implications of this are regarding the speakers who have been invited to
give speeches on campus. Protests on Sproul Plaza have been planned by students who feel that
these speakers are espousing hate speech which especially targets marginalized communities on
campus and in our country. To better understand the decisions students are making about whether to
attend protests, Chancellor Christ and myself need to examine and explore two theories of
behavior, egoistic and affective, that will give us insight into how students make... Show more

Using this Rational Choice theory, we can design a flyer that could discourage students from
attending the protests as well as one that could encourage students to attend the protests. In order
to discourage students from attending the protests associated with Free Speech Week and Year,
the flyer needs to appeal to students self interest in staying away from the protests. One way to
do this is to highlight the ineffective nature of the protests themselves and promote alternative
methods to advocating for change. The text on the flyer will say, PROTESTING WILL NOT
HELP YOUR CAUSE in the font Arial Black as shown as it denotes seriousness and the color
red will grab the attention of those who walk by. Following this will be a picture of a standoff
between police in riot gear and student protestors. Underneath this the message on the flyer will
say in the font Arial Black and black ink, UC Berkeley Administration will not tolerate
disturbances in day to day campus scheduling, damages to campus property, or any disruptions
during class time. Those who do will find themselves subject to academic probation by the UC
Administration. Following this statement the flyer will say, Consider utilizing other methods for

Every day there are people from foreign countries who immigrate to the United States in search of
new opportunities and to establish a new life. The Namesake is a heartwarming family movie that
accurately portrays the difficulties that some of these immigrants face when beginning their lives in
their new homeland and trying to assimilate themselves into the foreign culture. The themes of
family, cultural diversity, and identity crisis were displayed prominently throughout the film.

Gogol is torn between whether he wants to live a true Bengali life like his parents want him to
or if he wants to live an American life like all the people around him. For most the film, the only
piece of Bengali culture that he expresses is his name but he does not express it in a positive
manner. To Gogol, it is just a foolish name that he gets teased for in school. He does not understand
why his father would name him after his favorite author Nikolai Gogol. Viewers do not find out the
reason for why Gogol s father named him Gogol until the middle of the movie; it has to do with
the very first scene of the film when Ashoke is the only survivor on a train that crashes. Even
after hearing his father s story, Gogol remains disengaged from his culture. It is not until his father

where he is able to embrace two different cultures without having to choose one or the

Alcohol In College Sports
How can alcohol influence someone at a college football game? Does alcohol give someone a
good reputation or regrets? Alcohol can make you act a certain way. Football games should be
fun and enjoyable to watch without trying. In my opinion, alcohol at college football games can
cause bad decisions, foul language, and effects on others to and from. Alcohol is a drug that will
make you do bad decision when you drink too much. Not only do you make bad decisions with
alcohol it also makes you have regrets. Having regrets can make you not able to forgive yourself
for what you do, it could give you a reputation, and it could jeopardize your career. Alcohol and

Sign Miracles

BIBL 323
The Eight Sign Miracles of Jesus
There are four Gospels in the New Testament, and each seemingly written to a different audience
base that show different aspects to deity. There are a total of 37 different miracles attributed to
Jesus during his years of ministry on earth; although, there are only eight miracles detailed in the
Gospel of John. John is considered to be more sectarian and exclusive than the other three gospels.
This book was written to convey and convince all those who read it of the Deity of Jesus. The
author tells us in John 20, And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples,
which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that ... Show more

By virtue of Jesus power, the people s desire for him to be their king was based out of selfishness
with what He could offer them, and had remotely nothing to do with the divine revelation of who
he was. Unfortunately, this is the mentality that still exist today with believers and nonbelievers
alike, a selfish mindset that tends to look for and seek out supply rather than seeking to know the
source, which is God.
John uses Jesus walking on water as his fifth sign miracle. This shows that Jesus has power over
all natural laws. Jesus saw the disciples fighting for their lives on a stormy sea and he walks
toward them. The disciples were quite naturally afraid, but when Jesus revealed his identity to
them all of their fears were calmed. John does not recant the story of Peter walking on water with
Jesus as the book of Mark does, perhaps this is done intentionally not to take the spotlight off of the
divine abilities of Jesus, and instead focusing on Peter.
The next sign miracle was another demonstration of his ability to heal. Jesus healed a man born
blind. This healing prompted a similar reaction from the Pharisees and the Jews that healing the
lame man did; although, in this instance it was not done in violation of the Sabbath day. This was
the first time Jesus had admitted openly that illness or affliction have been placed on someone for
the sole purpose of revealing God s glory.

Brain Socializing
When socializing, your brain is working in so many different ways each part of the brain is
functioning to complete different tasks and react to different stimuli. The three primary would
be hippocampus, hypothalamus, and the occipital lobe. Each of these works independent of the
other but all 3 play substantial roles, especially in talking and socializing. The hippocampus
plays a role in memory, emotions and learning. So when you are playing cards with your friends
and the game is new to you, you will have to use your hippocampus to learn the game and keep in
your memory how to play it. If one of your friends were to have brought a new person over you
would have to memorize the new persons name. If you re socializing and someone begins talking

The Life Of Narcissa Whiteman
The life of Narcissa Whiteman:
1.Discuss the background, marriage, and goals of Narcissa Whitman.
Narcissa grew up in a devoted Presbyterian family, in a village of Prattsburg, New York. Narcissa
was an enthusiastic and highly influenced young woman, reading popular biographies of
American missionaries in the 19th century. Influenced by Harriet Newell, an evangelist who
traveled and worked in India, Narcissa was captivated by Harriet s spiritual struggles, letters and
sermons. As a young teenager, she felt life was slipping away, time was wasted, as she was ready
to adventure out and start ministering the word of God. 19th century American missions, was
influenced by the cultural attitudes and practices within their culture. Not interested in children,
marriage and traditional lifestyles, Narcissa struggled being a single woman, in a man s world. She
knew the way to a missionary appointment meant she would have to marry. Luckily enough, she
slightly knew someone, who had the same goals and same need of marriage, in order to find
placement within the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM), an
organization dealing with foreign missionary efforts. Years had passed, and eventually, Narcissa and
Marcus Whitman would marry (February 1836), allowing their ultimate dream of missionary
work to begin. With means to an end, Narcissa s goals would be met by wedlock. Narcissa s goals
were to leave instantly, head west and bring to life, her hopes and dreams

In Workplace Change: Managing Workplace Change, Becker, Tennessen, and Dahl state that some
implications to organizational change are:
В…addressing concerns about job security and the workplace, increasing change acceptance,
identifying the benefits of the change and create incentives for acceptance, perceive management
commitment for satisfaction and commitment to the new workplace strategy, broadcast information
through interactive dialogue, explain broad goals, and discuss personal implications (1997).
These implications can result in both positive and negative effects within an organization
depending on the way change is handled in an organization. Becker et al, also state that the most
common question employees will have, when it comes to change, will be, How does this affect
me? (Workplace Change: Managing Workplace Change, 1997). In order for employees to feel as if
management has considered the implications of organizational change on employees, leaders and
managers should avoid the following common mistakes when managing workplace change:

Monthly amounts will generally be more effective than annual amounts and comparisons by
location or line of business usually will be more effective than company wide comparisons. The
level of detail that is appropriate will be influenced by the nature of the client, its size and its
complexity. Generally, the risk that material misstatement could be obscured by offsetting factors
increases as a client s operations become more complex and more diversified. Disaggregation helps
reduce this risk. 2. a) Develop a precise expectation, using the detailed or disaggregated data

Social Philosophical Thoughts and Contributions of Dr. B....
SOCIAL PHILOSOPHICAL THOUGHTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS
OF DR. B. R. AMBEDKAR 1. INTRODUCTION
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar s philosophical contribution has in the areas of Humanism, realism and
rationalism. He propounded a philosophy of humanism taking in account both theory and practice.
For him philosophy is not purely theoretic matter but has practical potentialities. It has its roots in
the problems of life and the theories that are propounded return back as a contribution for the
reconstruction of the society. (Jatava, 1997)
The Indian population is generally classified on two bases: linguistic and religious. The religious
classification is more impressive and arresting for the foreigner. One who is interested in the

(Wilkinson amp; Thomas, 1972) The religion teaches to hope in the divine grace for the
betterment and Ambedkar goes completely against such view. It finds no place in the
philosophical, ethical and religious ideas of Ambedkar. (Jatava, 2008) 7. SOCIAL PHILOSOPHY
OF AMBEDKAR
Ambedkar was not only an idealist but also a realist. His move toward drafting of the constitution
was not merely philosophical but a realistic one. It throws light on the existing social condition
aiming at national goals and bringing about reformation in the Indian society. He was committed to
the social restructuring but in a democratic way. He did not go against the government but
remained in the government to serve the interests of the scheduled castes and other exploited
classes. He believed that it was much easier to bring about change from within than from outside.
(Jatava, 2008)
Ambedkar is not only a philosopher or a scholar but also a statesman, leader and liberator. Some of
his Social thoughts that contributed to the dignity and social status to the exploited section of the
Indian society could be enlisted below. (Keer, 1971) 8.1. Equality and Freedom
Ambedkar was in search of equality and truth. He did not find it in Hinduism therefore he was on a
lookout for a religion that would make him feel liberated. He was attracted to Buddhism because
the fundamental principal of Buddhism is equality. On becoming a Buddhist he expressed his

The Movie Blackfish Sparknotes
The movie Blackfish is a documentary of the story of Tilikum, a captive killer whale that has taken
several lives, exploits the issues amongst the sea park industry, and illustrates how little is known
about these intelligent mammals. The experiences and treatment of the Orcas in Blackfish share
commonalities with that of Blacks in America. The film touches on commonalities that can be
generalized in comparison with slavery: family, captivity, sound and language, natural and captured
behavior, separation. Through genes, captivity and the psychological and physical abuse of the
whales in the movie Blackfish, one can determine and acknowledge that there is a correlation

The whale is still in captivity and some of today s African Americans are still enslaved. We, as a
people, are in a position today where we control very little and are slaves to white people for
goods and services. Our educational system, which we do not control, does not prepare children
for a future and it lacks very little education of our history as a people. We are segregated from
white people and we are killing each other at an alarming rate. Our dollars do not go back into
the community but to the Jordon s and Polo s of the world and neither company does anything

slavery and what was forced upon our ancestors 150 years of free labor with no education and no

we break the chains? Will we be like the whales, held captive by enslavement until we violently

Stephen Crane Hypocrisy Of Religion
The Progressive Era gave reformers concerns about the poor of American cities. Many developed
the view that poverty was a result of some people s characters and not their environmental and
social condition. This brought up the argument and idea of the deserving poor versus the non
deserving poor. This alluded to the thought that character made a person poor and not that being
poor made the character. However, Stephen Crane s short story Maggie: A Girl of the Streets
critiques many of these ideas. His biggest critique was that of religion and the standards and
hypocrisy of it. This essay will argue that Crane critiques the hypocrisy of Christianityand
Christians through the characterization of a wide range of characters in his novel.
The most prominent example of Crane s critique against religion and it s hypocrisy is Maggie s
mother Mary. Even her name is a critique for it could reference religious symbol Mary, mother of
Jesus. However, Mary Johnson is the complete opposite of the Virgin Mary. She is a hypocrite
both personally and with her own religion. Mrs. Johnson is also a voice of the moral norm of her
time, despite the fact that she violates it at every point. Mrs. Johnson is an alcoholic who abuses
her children and she makes the home unlivable by her drunken rages, yet she condemns her
daughter for having sex out of wedlock. She refuses to let Maggie live with her even when
Maggie is abandoned by her lover. She uses her religion of Christianity as the excuse yet she

Advantages And Disadvantages Of FDMA
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a design for multiple antenna full duplex (FD) eNodeB (eNB)
and user equipment (UE) transceiver, based on recent progress in the area of self interference
cancellation (SIC). For FD communication, .i.e., simultaneous in band uplink and downlink
operation, same subcarriers are allocated to UE in both uplink and downlink. Hence, contrary to
traditional LTE, we propose using single carrier frequency division multiple accesses (SC FDMA)
for downlink along with the conventional method of using it for uplink. Taking advantage of
channel reciprocity in the case of FD communication and multiple antennas at eNB, use of singular
value decomposition (SVD) in the downlink allows multiple user (MU) to operate... Show more

Essay on A Fight Aganist Public Schools Strict Dress Codes
The belief that public schools should enforce strict dress codes has been the topic of many
controversial and heated debates throughout history. Although it is uncommon for public schools to
require uniforms, every school has some type of dress code. Elizabeth Forward High School in
Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, is no different than the rest of the nation. When caught violating the dress
code, some teachers will choose to ignore it, whereas others will send the student to the high school
office. If sent to the office, students are penalized with a day of in school suspension instead of
being allowed to call for a change of clothes. At first glance, the prohibition of tank tops, jeans with

Another major problem is the fact that tank tops are even banned in physical education classes.
Students are allowed to wear sweat pants in the winter months to keep themselves warm, but get
points deducted if they decide to wear a tank top on a day that the class spends forty minutes on the
football field in the smoldering summer sun. I think that if the school were to become more lenient
on the tank top rule, students will feel more comfortable in the school during the warmer months,
and they will spend less time complaining about the heat, allowing more ability to focus on
schoolwork. In 2009, Elizabeth Forward banned students from wearing jeans with holes in them.
When the new rule was put into affect, students started a chain text message suggesting that
everyone wear jeans with holes in them the next day. When the teachers and administration learned
about the plan, they threatened the students with in school suspension each day they wore torn up
jeans; this did not stop the students. The students believed that if enough of their peers
participated, they could not be given in school suspension simply because they could not fit
everyone in the in school suspension room. However, when nearly two hundred students showed
up to school in ripped up jeans, the faculty was forced to crack down and send anybody with even
the slightest fraying to the office. Because there were so many rule breakers, the administration
moved everybody out of the in school

DIAGNOSIS: Hemoptysis with history of tuberculosis.
PLAN: I have reviewed the chest x rays available here and agree with the finding of bleb
formation in the right and left upper lobes. Despite the fact that the patient has had a high INR,
because of his history of tuberculosis and hemoptysis I believe obtaining sputum for TB is very,
very important. We should rule out any other endobronchial lesions as the cause for his bleeding. I
have discussed this matter with the patient and his wife. I have told them that there is the
possibility of observing the condition by x rays and repeated tests of his sputum. They understand
that this is an option; however, they decided that because of concern regarding his repeated
hemoptysis, they would consent to bronchoscopy. We will arrange for the patient to have a
bronchoscopy done. He is off Coumadin.

Reflection Paper On Christmas Angels
Christmas Angels Christmas in the Chapel has been a huge staple in my childhood, and every
year, I ve looked forward to seeing the signing angels from my church Jefferson Street of from
Lincoln Christian Church. In January 2015, I was able to join their group, Praise Handmade,
and entered the Heavenlies , as we call it, that December. Our Head Angel , Angela, and three
other girls, Rebecca, Bethany, and Erin, were in my first group for two years, and they had done it
before. I was new to all of this, and I was the youngest and the smallest (I was 11 my first year);
being afraid of heights did not help at all.
The platform we were on was the highest part on the stage, and there was was nothing to keep us
from falling; the stage is about 15 feet into the air. During my first rehearsal on the stage, my skin
turned as pale as a ghost and my body was as still as a statue; I was completely petrified. When the
song was over, I moved to a lower level of the stage to calm down. One of the angels (I don t
remember who) asked me, Are you okay?
I told them I was fine, though I was still trembling a little bit from fear. How was I supposed to
do it in front of several people if I couldn t even rehearse up there without having a panic attack?
Thankfully, I soon got used to the height, though the first time up there every year still makes my
heart pound; I think it does for everyone. For my third year, I was able to look up for our last sign
for the very first time.

The Drawbacks of Gun Control Legislation
Gun control is many issues of this nation summed up into two words. In the point of view of
some people gun control is a crime issue, while to others it is a rights issue. Gun control also is a
safety issue and believe it or not, an education issue. Within each of these problems, there are those
who want guncontrol legislation, and those like myself, who want less gun control legislation.
The second amendment states that we as citizens have the right to bear arms and protect
ourselves. Gun control only keeps the good guys from obtaining firearms. Bad guys will always
have ways of getting weapons, whether it be from the black market, cross borders, or illegal street
sales. Another drawback of any and all gun control legislation is that they only affect law abiding
citizens. By clarification a criminal is someone who breaks the law. Therefore, passing gun control
legislation to control crime committed by criminals is disagreeable. According to the
(NRA) National Rifle Association, only four criminals have been taken into custody while
attempting to legally purchase a firearm. Criminals do not purchase guns legally. They have other
ways to get guns, such as the black market or theft. Many citizens are for new gun control laws, but
many are against them. Nowadays, it is almost impossible to pick up a magazine or watch the
evening news without being blasted with details of another mass shooting, or another child that

The Economic Disaster Of Detroit
Detroit, Michigan once stood as the epitome of industrial American cities. In the mid 1990s Detroit
had the highest income per capita and a booming automotive industry. During prohibition in the
1920s Detroit served as a major gateway for the importation of alcohol from Canada, whereby it
thrived from this lucrative business. Also, around this same time the automotive industry was
growing at a pace where jobs were begging to be filled, and the population of Detroitrose to nearly
2,000,000. There was a point in time where many other major U.S. cities envied Detroit and were
jealous of its ever growing economy and infrastructure. At this time it seemed as though nothing
would stop the economic growth of the Motor City. Sadly, these are... Show more content on

The main causes of this economic collapse are the loss of thousands of manufacturing jobs in the
state of Michigan due to globalization, the subtle racism of residents leading to the suburbanization
of the Detroit area, and a group of crooked municipal government leaders that stole from the
community. Despite these overwhelming obstacles Detroit is on the mend, and many see a bright
future for this once great city.
It is however, important to note that everybody have a weakness, and the same remains true
when referring to a cities infrastructure. The most astounding reason for the quick decline of
Detroit was the closure of many automotive factories and the deterioration of the American auto
industry. Detroit was a city with everything going for it. Its quick economic growth in the early
20th century had a lot to do with its geographical location. It was located close to the nations
major coal and iron distributors and it was easily accessible by water via the Detroit River.
Edmund Wilson wrote in a critique of Detroit, You can see here, as it is impossible to do in a more
varied and complex city, the whole structure of an industrial society. Wilson elegantly notes that
Detroit depends entirely on the automotive industry as its source of sustainability where other cities
have a more diversified industrial scene. At the beginning of the 20th century Detroit s auto
industry began. Henry Ford opened the Ford Motor company in 1903 and

Application of the Vitalistic and Mechanistic Philosophies...
With regards to vitalism and mechanism, there lacks a distinct boundary separating these two
scientific philosophies. However, their implications and biases when slanted either particular way
are significant enough to observe. Natural history has been the subject of great debate, scrutiny, and
passion amongst many scientists from early on in biologyto present times. Currently mechanism has
risen to be the dominant theory in biology, but not without hardship and deep philosophical
reasoning supported by empirical evidence. To understand these two philosophies, it s imperative to
establish a clear understanding of what each category represents. The mechanistic philosophy
purports that life operates as mechanical process governed by the fundamental physical laws
provided via the universe. This philosophy goes further in thought that there is not necessarily a
designer or ultimate purpose for the execution of life in general. In contrast, vitalist philosophy
claims that there is an innate specific quality and function that gives existence its ultimate
characteristics. Folks in this line of thought tend to argue further that there is definite design and
purpose living entities, implying the existence of a celestial super power or being that interacts
making life what it is. A pronounced example of a naturalist who conceded with this line of thought
was Georges Louis Leclerc, comte de Buffon. Referring to his paper From the natural history of

A.An anesthetic machine is to deliver an exact amount of oxygen and anesthetic inhalant to patients
undergoing general anesthesia.
B.Gas delivery system and Anesthetic circuit
a.The gas delivery system is the first part of an anesthetic machine where the oxygen travels from
the start (the gas cylinder) to the fresh gas outlet.
i.The compressed air supply is oxygen and is in gas cylinders. The anesthetic vaporizer is where it
vaporizes the anesthetic inhalant; there is a precision vaporizer or a non precision vaporizer. The
flowmeter is what delivers the exact amount of the oxygen, and the oxygen flush valve delivers a
very high pressure of 100 % oxygen. The common gas outlet is when the carrier and anesthetic

Work place safety practices always involve knowing what kinds of kinds of hazards are in the
work place. Hazards include short and long term effects of waste anesthetic gas, the storage for
compressed gas cylinders, and precautions of exposure to injectable anesthetic agents. A couple
of hazards of waste inhalant anesthetic gas would be inhaling the gases from the vaporizer, a
spill of the anesthetic liquid or the gas escaping the anesthetic machine during the time they are
under anesthesia. For handling the compressed gases properly, the use and storage of the
cylinders are critical. The cylinders need to be chained to the wall, they are required to be in an
upright position, keep away from anything that is flammable, they need to be put away from
areas in the clinic that are busy, and empty and full cylinders should be kept apart. Accidental
exposure to the injectable agents is not a good thing and the precautions are important to know.

Abraham Lincoln Domestic Agenda
Abraham Lincoln s Domestic Agenda during the Civil War Abraham Lincoln is generally
acknowledged as one of the nation s greatest presidents because of his accomplishments during his
presidency. He was a politician and lawyer who served as the sixteenth president of the United
States during one of the most controversial times in American history, known as the American Civil
War. The Civil War broke out on April 12, 1861, shortly after President Lincoln was inaugurated,
in Fort Sumter, South Carolina, and was fought till May 9, 1865, when Robert E. Lee surrendered
the last major Confederate army to Ulysses S.Grant (McPherson). Fighting over the controversy of

On November 19, 1863, Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address, along with Edward Everett, at
a ceremony dedicating the battlefield as a National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. In less
than three minutes, Lincoln identified the nation s mission with the principle that all men are
created equal, spoke of the war as bringing about a new birth of freedom, and defined the essence
of democratic government. Lincoln honored the Union dead and reminded the listeners of the
purpose of the soldier s sacrifice: equality, freedom, and national unity (HistoryNet). The sacrifices
of Union soldiers, Lincoln declared, would ensure that government of the people, by the people,
for the people, shall not perish from the earth. The Battle of Gettysburg which was fought four
months earlier, was the single bloodiest battle of the Civil War, where more than 45,000 men were
killed, injured, and captured. In fact, this battle proved to be the turning point of the war: General
Robert E. Lee s defeat and retreat from Gettysburg marked the last Confederate invasion of Northern
territory and the beginning of the Southern army s ultimate decline. Though not well received at the
time, it took its place among the most famous speeches in

points made throughout the article. Some of the main points and arguments, including the
discussion of where racebegan, the inconsistency in our ideas of race, racismin science, the use of
eugenics to identify race in biology and the disenfranchising of the connection of race and biology.

Throughout the entire paper the author would mention certain events or points, but move on
before he fully explained them. One example of this is when he quickly mentioned the study by
Kenneth Clark and psychological harm to black children caused by segregation. Without previous
knowledge of this study, you would not know how this connects to this particular subject. This
does not line up with the fact that in some circumstances, he goes into extreme detail about the
other topics. I would have loved for the author to go into more detail about the United Nations
Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization and the authors that they brought in for the
panel. I would have liked to know more about why these specific people were picked other than
the books that they had written. One part of this article that I do not agree with is the idea that
race is a completely terrible creation. By this, I do not mean that race is good, rather that it can
have positive situations. Without race, we would not have been able to identify that sickle cell
anemia is more common in African Americans. The positive attributes do not out way the
negatives, but they are still something to think about. Even though she points out all of these

The difference between now and the early 1900 is massive. Back in the early 1900 human slavery
was pretty common as represented in the book. Freedom has been given as year went by and in
today s generation most countries do give freedom and tries to treat them well and equally.
For example, all human slaves had the rights of life, security and liberty, slaves had few other
types of rights, including political rights which is the protection of the law and equality before
the law, there is also an economic law which includes the right to own property, the right to work
and to receive an equal pay and others as the following social rights, cultural rights and collective

You don t have any friends, she said. (Carver 3)
The conversation portrays that the narrator lives a secluded and solitary life, and has resorted to
seeking to conform through drinking a lot of scotch and smoking marijuana.
This point of view is corroborated in Kirk Nesset s article called Insularity and Self Enlargement in
Raymond Carver s Cathedral, who observes that Raymond Carver s fiction is characterized by
characters that tend toward insularity and isolation. (16) The narrator s solitary life can be
attributed to their behavior of profiling and stereotype other people. For instance, he thinks that

The (UML) Unified Modeling Language is a general purpose modeling language in the field of
software application design, which is developed to supply a conventional means to envision the
design of a system. It was produced and created by James Rumbaugh, Ivar Jacobson and Grady

In 1997 it was embraced as a basic by the (OMG) Object Management Group, and has actually

use of its attributes. Even if UML 2.1 was never ever launched as an official requirement, versions
2.1.1 and 2.1.2 showed up in 2007, adhered to by UML 2.2 in February 2009. UML 2.3 was

Athletics last for such a short period of time. It ends for people. But while it lasts, it creates this

Night Lights shows the darker side of high school football. Players are taught to play games to win,
and thats all that matters. Football players are put under a tremendous amount of pressure, almost
enough to be considered unfair. Even though football is a team sport , pressure on individual
players is unnecessary. Some players have the burden of the team, the city, their family, and their

The Regency Society During The Regency Period
During the Regency society, what made a man a true gentleman is still a confusing matter for
many Austenesque and Regency readers (Grace). Many of the 19th century occupations have
vanished because of changes in taste, socials customs, and technological advances (Pool 235).
While some of the men during the Regency period were extremely wealthy, there were others that
faced financial hardships (Grace). Most of time, the road of apprenticeship often led to a
successful life and good fortune (Pool 240). The most gentlemanly professions during the Regency
period were the clergymen, lawyers, and army officers.
Many of the men during the Regency period that desired to keep their status as a gentleman often
went into a church profession (Grace). Many gentlemen that were OxBridge graduates and
younger brothers entered the clergy (Ray 189). For many families that had a steady, guaranteed
income, the church was a popular option for them (Grace). There were two different types of
clergyman, vicar and curate. While being a clergyman required no strenuous physical labor, it did
require a Honors degree either from Oxford or Cambridge (Grace; Ray 189). For the most part, the
gentry class were the only ones that could actually afford a degree from Oxford or Cambridge to
become a clergyman (Ray 189). Another job opportunity in the church included the priest. The
priests during this time were respected by society mostly because of their association with the
church (Ray 189). In the novel,

Implementation Of Light Fidelity ( Li Fi ) On 3rd Gen...
Abstract: This paper explains an idea for implementation of Light Fidelity (Li Fi) on 3rd Gen
Modular projects (such as Oil Gas, chemicals, petrochemicals, power plants and other processing
industries). In particular, it will show how the application of Li Fi on 3rd Gen Modular project
avoids all the instrument wiring systems and Wi Fi(Wireless Fidelity) based wireless instrument
problems and reduces the life cycle cost of instrumentation system. The implementation of optical
wireless instrument communication systems on 3rd Gen Modular projects will result in enhanced
wireless capacity to realize Industrial Internet of Things (I2oT) and contribute to the key
performance indicators for the 4th Gen. Modularization and beyond. The availability of Li Fi
communication system provides multiple benefits over wired and Wi Fi based wireless
instrumentation systems. The paper covers all the key areas of engineering, design and
construction/fabrication, deliverables requirement, while implementing Li Fi on modularization
projects to achieve the plants requirement in an optimized way.
Keywords: Light Fidelity; Modularization; Life cycle cost; wireless instruments; Instrument Wiring
System; Visible Light Communication; Smart Plant Instrumentation; Wireless Fidelity; Industrial

George Washington s Victory At Trenton
With the shot heard round the world at Lexington and Concord, the American colonies were on a
collision course with one of the most powerful empires of that day. One key, pivot point of the
conflict known as the American Revolutionary War was GEN George Washington s victory at
Trenton, New Jersey on December 26, 1776. However, GEN Washington s victory might not have
been possible without the help of some timely intelligence, both for the American side, as well as
intelligence blunders by the British forces defending Trenton. By disregarding intelligence
warnings, as well as relying on only on single intelligence source, the British commander at Trenton
made a fatal error, which likely led to a British defeat, and may have contributed to the... Show

COL Rall s officers tried to convince him to fortify the town, but he did not take the time to do
so. There is also evidence that COL Rall was informed by spies and British sympathizers that the
Americans were going to attack, but COL Rall ignored this information and did not set up any
defenses in the town., He also did not send out any patrols on the morning of December 26. After
the battle a message warning of an American attack was found in COL Rall s pocket after his death.

Being Earnes
Many people have not experienced the unique work of art known as a farce. After witnessing
The Importance of Being Earnest, I have determined that a farce and a comedy can be described
as opposite to a certain extent. A farce is ordinary people in a strange situation, while a comedy
is unique people in an ordinary situation. Although not all people may see it this way, this is how
I perceived Oscar Wilde s classic which was clearly very ahead of its time. Richard Robichaux
directed this work of art at the Pavillion Theatre from April 12 23 and focused on several
particular elements/themes which build on each other in order to celebrate the comedic and
historical genius of Wilde s original work. More specifically, the play focuses on the notion of
marriageand its greater role in society, the role of visual objects such as food and how they hold a
much larger importance than they originally seem, and finally the use of puns in order to describe
and envision Victorian society and delve into what the characters are actually... Show more content

One that particularly struck me as quite obvious was the use of earnest/Ernest on multiple
occasions. This pun is quite symbolic because of the fact that it describes Victorian society norms.
Cecily and Gwendolen both aim to marry a man with the name Ernest even though she doesn t quite
understand what the meaning of the word earnest and what it holds in Victorian society. Earnest
means seriousness and respect in this society, but these are not the reasons Gwendolen wants to
marry a man with this name. It turns out that neither man was earnest or had the name Ernest,
although Gwendolen is quick to forgive. Wilde is trying to show the audience that anyone who
describes themselves as Ernest is being deceptive, but at the same time shows that the social norms
of Victorian society are described in the meaning of the

My Life Soundtrack
Have you ever rode in a car subsequently after some tremendous event just occurred in your life
then a song begins to sing perfectly with what is going on in your situation? I feel like this has
happened often to many people. Being almost eighteen years old, throughout my life there have
had plenty of experiences that match perfectly with songs. I like to compare it to a soundtrack
of my life. As an example, a soundtrack that I relate to my life is ВЁOne thousand milesВЁ by
Vanessa Carlton. The specific verse that relates my life to this song is ВЁYou know I d walk a
thousand miles just to see you tonight. The reason I relate to my life to this is because before I
turned sixteen years old I would walk miles to meet friends and hangout. This

Burial Site
When dealing with burial sites some information is needed before any excavation can take
place, whether it is a mass or single grave site. Some of the basic information needed would be
the number of victims or the year of burial. This information will help plan for the number of
workers, resources, and equipment needed for the excavation to take place. When locating a
suspected grave site, the main source is a witness, it is important to get information from more
than one witness because a witness may be under emotional stress, which may cause them to
provide unreliable information. Other ways to locate a new gravesite would be differences in type
and growth of vegetation, depressions in the soil, differences in soil composition while probing...

I would first look at a satellite image of the reported area where the victim is buried. The
reasoning for this is to get an idea of how many people are needed, which direction to bring the
equipment and most importantly where to start the search. If my department has access to a
cadaver dog, I would use this resource to locate the reported grave site. According to dog trainer
Sharon Ward from Portland, Ore. Cadaver dogs have a 95 percent accuracy rate of finding scents
of human decomposition and scattered remains. So, by using a cadaver dog it saves manpower
and recourses for the department but is also very reliable in getting the job done. Once a burial site
is located by the cadaver dogs I would then set a datum and grid, located and map all surface
artifacts, remove all surface debris by hand (e.g. leaves, loose twigs) and cut growing plants
close to the surface. When I come upon the cadaver, I should maintain control and slowly expose
the body. At the same time collect any associated artifacts while photographing and documenting
the entire process. When I reach the bottom of the grave, I will look for tool marks used to dig the
grave or shoe prints left by the person who dug the grave. All of this will be done before removing
the body from the grave

Loyalty, Sacrifice And Compassion Of The Heart
The word loyalty means fidelity to law which is generally applicable in the case of the Sovereign
of the State. It is one of those noble qualities that is found not only in humans, but in pets as well,
such as dogs, horses or even elephants in some countries. But in a broader sense, it means
having steadfastness in allegiance to a person, people or a cause, or to an even bigger picture:
one s country. It involves obedience, sacrifice and compassion of the heart. Loyalty is a broad
term, which can be applied to one s family, their locality or their country. Being a loyal per¬son
could mean that they are ready to sacrifice even their own life for the sake of whatever they are
loyal to. They bear a moral character. A truly loyal man cannot tempt to be bribed or to deviate
from his own path. Loyalty is being absolutely dependable in all circumstances. In this world,
there are only a few instances of truly loyal personalities. Loyalty is common among the
courageous soldiers and servants. There are instances of pets such as dogs, horses or elephants
that will give their lives out of loyalty for the interest of their master. In Homer s The Odyssey,
loyalty is a major theme that underlies the entire story. There are several examples of loyalty, such
as one of the most apparent ones; Penelopes loyalty to her husband, Odysseuss loyalty to his men
throughout their quest and even some smaller examples such as Odysseus s dog and servants.

Summary Of Convergence Of The Twain
Convergence of the Twain
The Titanic, born from human greed and wed to fate s punishment, is a modern icon of decadence.
However, Hardy re imagines this icon in his poem The Convergence of the Twain. Instead of an
explicit critique of the ship s ostentatious vanity, Hardy sees The Titanic s sinking as the judgment
for its vaingloriousness and a product of the ship s conception, development, and wedding to fate.
The poem s organization emphasizes a contrast between different states of the ship s existence. In
fact, the author answers how the ship came to being sunk as the poem progresses. The ship, which
came Deep from human vanity/ And the pride of Life that planned her , falls out of grace In a
solitude of the sea . After the source of its vitality is engulfed by death ( Steel chambers, late the
pyres/ Of her salamandrine fires ) , the ship finds itself in an underwater hell where Cold currents
thrid, and turn to rhythmic tidal lyres , and grotesque, slimed, dumb, indifferent creatures profanate
what were once Jewels in joy designed . An inhabitant of this hellish habitat, seeing this
gloriousness in vain in such a deprecated state, asks: What is this doing here? The speaker answers
this question by describing how destiny prepared a sinister mate... A shape of Ice, for the time far
and dissociate and how In shadowy silent distance grew the Iceberg too... as the smart ship grew
In stature, grace, and hue . Then, the ship and the iceberg finally converge being anon twin halves
of one august event at the discretion of destiny, also known as The Spinner of the Years . The
organization of the poem implies a metaphysical statement; fate is the master of all, and servant of
none. It doesn t matter how Deep from human vanity or how many Jewels in joy designed
characterize mankind s power; It is all under the jurisdiction of fate.
Imagery provides Hardy a vehicle to define essential aspects of the relationship between mankind
and nature. The author argues that fate works beyond the authority of mortals; Only it decides to
match the ship and [The] shape of Ice in an ... intimate welding of their later history . In fact, The
convergence of the twain comes only Till the Spinner of

Deadly Sins In Dante Alighieri s The Divine Comedy
Discussing some of the Deadly Sins
Dante had his fair share of the real human experience, whilst traveling through hell in Dante
Alighieri s The Divine Comedy . Characters in literature have been popularized since this
masterpiece to favor sins as a type of personality trope. The lazy bum, the angry husband, or the
prideful peacocks; the list goes on and on. The cause and effect of these traits have served well to
teach generations of readers, the ideas and meanings of our actions as humans. Although it is rare,
some works leave open ended plots for us to contemplate the meaning of said sin. In conjunction to
some of the deadly sins, the main characters from The Cask of Amontillado , The Veldt , and
Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister , all display a truth about human nature.
When considering the character of Montresor of Edgar Allen Poe s The Cask of Amontillado,
people often end the story either feeling disturbed, satisfied, or both. For those in favor of
satisfaction we can derive that they understand the justification on Montresor s side of it. At times,
pride is to be considered a form of dignity (Neu 55). A sense of dignity indeed, for it was that
dignity that prompted such a strong desire to sin. The nature of my soul, is what Montresor tells
us whilst vowing silent vengeance over an insult; a thought befitting a person aware of their own
pride (Poe 174). Our protagonist feels no remorse since he believes he is in the right. Professor

The Setting In The Most Dangerous Game
A man falls overboard and is lost at sea. He washes up on a strange island with no means of
escape and no possible way of contacting anyone to rescue him. He is trapped on the island. This
is one way the setting of The Most Dangerous Game enhances the plot by adding suspense, action
and mystifying image in the readers of the setting and adding an atmosphere of mystery.
The first area that the setting enhances the plot is in the feeling of suspense in the story. If the
story hadn t taken in a place with thick forest, a large swamp, and most of all being on an island,
this story wouldn t have as interesting or suspenseful as it is. Since the setting is on an island
with only Rainsford and Zaroff, this gives a feeling of being trapped. As there is no escape but if
the story was on the mainland there would be a much easier means of escape. The forest also
adds greatly to the plot, as without the forest Rainsford could not have hid as well as he did, set
many traps to help even odds, and beat the Zaroff at his own game and ambush him in his own
home. Without these key setting pieces, The Most Dangerous Game would have been a much duller
story.

If the setting hadn t been on the ocean in the beginning, it would have been impossible for
Rainsford to have ever fallen overboard and wash up on Zaroff s island. If Rainsford had never
washed up on the island, there never would have been a hunt and the event that happen during the
hunt. Without the setting being a thick overgrown jungle, Rainsford would have never been able
to survive for as long as he did. The jungle setting allowed Rainsford to make liberal use of traps
and false trails to trick Zaroff and buy himself time.

ASD Intervention Essay
Another method that is commonly used as an intervention for students with ASD is the Early Start
Denver Model (ESDM). ESDM is an inclusive behavioral intervention for infants to preschool aged
children (Dawson et al., 2009; Vivanti et al., 2014). The learning objectives are based on individual
strengths and weaknesses, with a focus on developmental fields that are foundational to social and
social cognitive learning and development (Vivanti et al., 2014). The students with ASD work to
enhance their verbal and nonverbal communication, emotion sharing, imitation, joint attention, play,
social orienting, and attention (Rogers et al., 2012).
The ESDM program outlines the skills taught at certain times and the teaching interventions used
to deliver the material. This early intervention is often performed in the child s natural
environment such as the home with trained professionals and parents, but is also performed in
group settings (Dawson et al., 2009; Vismara Rogers, 2008; Vivanti et al., 2014). ESDM is often
performed in a 1:1 setting, but it has also been performed in larger group settings with a 1:3 ratio
(Dawson et al., 2009; Vismara Rogers, 2008; Vivanti et al., 2014). This intervention incorporates
ABA with developmental and relationship based approaches (Dawson et al., 2009).

Social stories often are simple stories explaining how to do something (i.e., sitting on the rug)
without disruptions (Agosta et al., 2004). Social stories should have four basic types of sentences:

can be initially introduced as well to encourage the positive behaviors. Research suggests that when
the reinforcement is removed while the social story remains, the disruptive behaviors continue to

Fifa s Corruption Of Soccer Games
Envision attending a game of your favorite sports team, already knowing who the winner of the
match. How fun would that be to watch? Whether you are betting real money on the game or not,
the game would be boring to watch. The possibility of this attending such a scenario does exist for
the FIFA world cup provided that FIFA
s corruption is allowed to keep manifesting. FIFA, also
known as the FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de Football Association and the governing body of
soccer, who creates and outlines the rules of the games, is suspected of corruption and it could
potentially harm the quality of soccer games. If this happens, the social and fun aspect of the
world cup would be entirely diminished. Think of if this happens to your favorite sport. You re
throwing a barbeque party celebrating the superbowl, and you know the Patriots are going to win
this year. Not because you believe in their skill but because it has all been staged. This leads me to
my main point, if FIFA s alleged corruption continues to knowingly grow and something isn t done,
it will hinder the prestige the FIFA World Cup
. While some may argue soccer has become an
important part of many countries history and FIFA has become too big to fail, if matches become
more about bribes, politics, and personal bias in a game where outcomes should be decided by
skill, people will lose interest. You might think that this doesn t matter and it is only soccer. But in
reality, FIFA s corruption is hurting people too. Did

  • 2. Perry And Bussey s Theory Of Sex Essay Perry and Bussey s (1979) study was motivated as a rebuttal to Maccoby and Jacklin s (1974) claim that research and studies done up until then failed to give significant support to the theory that sex differentials based on same sex model imitation as a mechanism for sex role development was unimportant. Perry and Bussey contended this notion on two fronts. They repute current design models used to test imitation of same sexmodels, stating that children are oftentimes given a single stranger as a role model, maleor female, who preform mundane tasks and are then tested for imitation of the model s response (Perry and Bussey, 1979, p.1700). This is nowhere near reminiscent of real life scenarios in which a child has multiple examples of both same and opposite sex models to compare and contrast sex appropriate social and cultural responses. They also re examined how children code sex typing displays into long term memory by looking at how children respond to models they found themselves to be similar to. To that end, Perry and Bussey set up two related experiments that where designed to determine a) how might a child s endorsement of an item be influenced by the frequencies with which same versus opposite sex models display similar preferences and b) does the child imitate said same sex model more often when they believe the model s behavior is appropriate due to a clear indication that the model is behaving typically for his or her sex. • 3. My Unknown Colonies Unknown #3 Report To start off unknown #3, I picked out O17 from rack A and wrote down my name, date, class, and I first noticed the broth was a light yellow that was quite cloudy or milky. Soon later I streaked my organism onto a TSA plate and incubated it at 37oC for 24 hours, t was almost a perfect plate. There was no contamination; I could tell it there was only one species on the plate and that it was okay for me to move on. There were many isolated colonies in quadrants 3 and 4. The colonies were small and white in color, it was not translucent. I then began to make my 2 slants, inoculating a straight line on each slant, I incubated it at 37oC for 24 hours. The next day, I made sure my slants were pure and also there was a thick line of organism where I had inoculated with a yellow white color. Now I was ready to begin making my slides and start staining. I used E. Coli and S. Aureus next to my unknown to help me... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When checking the results, H2S was negative, there were no black precipitants in the tube, and the organism was motile. After recording those results, I went to the hood to add Kovoc s reagent to the SIMs and waited for about 30 minutes before observing to get the results, and it came out to be negative for indole as well. At this point, only one organism matched every result that I received during all my tests, I decided to do my confirmation test. I did Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer tests for my confirmation test. After inoculating the MRVP broth and incubating it at 37oC for 120 hours, I took my separated samples to the hood and added in the Methyl Red in one tube and reagent A then B in the other tube, I mixed it and checked in on both tubes after every 10 minutes. About 45 minutes later it was clear what the results were, negative for methyl red and positive for Voges Proskauer. That confirmed that my unknown O17 was Enterobacter ... • 5. Debate Controversy Regarding Free Speech And Hate Speech Recent events have found UC Berkeley embroiled in controversy regarding Free Speech; debate has flared over what Free Speech really means, where we draw the line between Free Speech and hate speech, and what the implications of this are regarding the speakers who have been invited to give speeches on campus. Protests on Sproul Plaza have been planned by students who feel that these speakers are espousing hate speech which especially targets marginalized communities on campus and in our country. To better understand the decisions students are making about whether to attend protests, Chancellor Christ and myself need to examine and explore two theories of behavior, egoistic and affective, that will give us insight into how students make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using this Rational Choice theory, we can design a flyer that could discourage students from attending the protests as well as one that could encourage students to attend the protests. In order to discourage students from attending the protests associated with Free Speech Week and Year, the flyer needs to appeal to students self interest in staying away from the protests. One way to do this is to highlight the ineffective nature of the protests themselves and promote alternative methods to advocating for change. The text on the flyer will say, PROTESTING WILL NOT HELP YOUR CAUSE in the font Arial Black as shown as it denotes seriousness and the color red will grab the attention of those who walk by. Following this will be a picture of a standoff between police in riot gear and student protestors. Underneath this the message on the flyer will say in the font Arial Black and black ink, UC Berkeley Administration will not tolerate disturbances in day to day campus scheduling, damages to campus property, or any disruptions during class time. Those who do will find themselves subject to academic probation by the UC Administration. The wind gusts along the plateau, the sun beats down on the soar backs of the soldiers, peasants and slaves. Listen closely and hear the pounding and banging against the Earth. The Han seemed to have been bribing the Xiongnu with silk floss and fabric. This shows that the wall was not working. If the wall were working than the Han would not have to bribe the Xiongnu to keep them away. The Han was losing money trying to bribe the Xiongnu because the wall was unsuccessful. The wall took years and years of time to build and this proves that those years were a waste. Although eh Han was bribing the Xiongnu, there was still a chance of a possible attack. Gogol is torn between whether he wants to live a true Bengali life like his parents want him to or if he wants to live an American life like all the people around him. For most the film, the only piece of Bengali culture that he expresses is his name but he does not express it in a positive manner. To Gogol, it is just a foolish name that he gets teased for in school. He does not understand why his father would name him after his favorite author Nikolai Gogol. Viewers do not find out the reason for why Gogol s father named him Gogol until the middle of the movie; it has to do with the very first scene of the film when Ashoke is the only survivor on a train that crashes. Even after hearing his father s story, Gogol remains disengaged from his culture. It is not until his father s unexpected death when Gogol has an epiphany and finally begins to accept that he can live a life where he is able to embrace two different cultures without having to choose one or the ... • 9. Sign Miracles Liberty University BIBL 323 The Eight Sign Miracles of Jesus There are four Gospels in the New Testament, and each seemingly written to a different audience base that show different aspects to deity. There are a total of 37 different miracles attributed to Jesus during his years of ministry on earth; although, there are only eight miracles detailed in the Gospel of John. John is considered to be more sectarian and exclusive than the other three gospels. This book was written to convey and convince all those who read it of the Deity of Jesus. The author tells us in John 20, And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By virtue of Jesus power, the people s desire for him to be their king was based out of selfishness with what He could offer them, and had remotely nothing to do with the divine revelation of who he was. Unfortunately, this is the mentality that still exist today with believers and nonbelievers alike, a selfish mindset that tends to look for and seek out supply rather than seeking to know the source, which is God. John uses Jesus walking on water as his fifth sign miracle. This shows that Jesus has power over all natural laws. Jesus saw the disciples fighting for their lives on a stormy sea and he walks toward them. The disciples were quite naturally afraid, but when Jesus revealed his identity to them all of their fears were calmed. John does not recant the story of Peter walking on water with Jesus as the book of Mark does, perhaps this is done intentionally not to take the spotlight off of the divine abilities of Jesus, and instead focusing on Peter. The next sign miracle was another demonstration of his ability to heal. Jesus healed a man born blind. This healing prompted a similar reaction from the Pharisees and the Jews that healing the lame man did; although, in this instance it was not done in violation of the Sabbath day. This was the first time Jesus had admitted openly that illness or affliction have been placed on someone for the sole purpose of revealing God s glory. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The three primary would be hippocampus, hypothalamus, and the occipital lobe. Each of these works independent of the other but all 3 play substantial roles, especially in talking and socializing. The hippocampus plays a role in memory, emotions and learning. Influenced by Harriet Newell, an evangelist who traveled and worked in India, Narcissa was captivated by Harriet s spiritual struggles, letters and sermons. Luckily enough, she slightly knew someone, who had the same goals and same need of marriage, in order to find placement within the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM), an organization dealing with foreign missionary efforts. Years had passed, and eventually, Narcissa and Marcus Whitman would marry (February 1836), allowing their ultimate dream of missionary work to begin. With means to an end, Narcissa s goals would be met by wedlock. Narcissa s goals were to leave instantly, head west and bring to life, her hopes and dreams ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His move toward drafting of the constitution was not merely philosophical but a realistic one. It throws light on the existing social condition aiming at national goals and bringing about reformation in the Indian society. He was committed to the social restructuring but in a democratic way. He did not go against the government but remained in the government to serve the interests of the scheduled castes and other exploited classes. The film touches on commonalities that can be generalized in comparison with slavery: family, captivity, sound and language, natural and captured behavior, separation. • 16. Stephen Crane Hypocrisy Of Religion The Progressive Era gave reformers concerns about the poor of American cities. Many developed the view that poverty was a result of some people s characters and not their environmental and social condition. This brought up the argument and idea of the deserving poor versus the non deserving poor. This alluded to the thought that character made a person poor and not that being poor made the character. However, Stephen Crane s short story Maggie: A Girl of the Streets critiques many of these ideas. His biggest critique was that of religion and the standards and hypocrisy of it. This essay will argue that Crane critiques the hypocrisy of Christianityand Christians through the characterization of a wide range of characters in his novel. The most prominent example of Crane s critique against religion and it s hypocrisy is Maggie s mother Mary. Even her name is a critique for it could reference religious symbol Mary, mother of Jesus. However, Mary Johnson is the complete opposite of the Virgin Mary. She is a hypocrite both personally and with her own religion. Mrs. Johnson is also a voice of the moral norm of her time, despite the fact that she violates it at every point. Mrs. Johnson is an alcoholic who abuses her children and she makes the home unlivable by her drunken rages, yet she condemns her daughter for having sex out of wedlock. For FD communication, .i.e., simultaneous in band uplink and downlink operation, same subcarriers are allocated to UE in both uplink and downlink. Hence, contrary to traditional LTE, we propose using single carrier frequency division multiple accesses (SC FDMA) for downlink along with the conventional method of using it for uplink. Taking advantage of channel reciprocity in the case of FD communication and multiple antennas at eNB, use of singular value decomposition (SVD) in the downlink allows multiple user (MU) to operate... When caught violating the dress code, some teachers will choose to ignore it, whereas others will send the student to the high school office. Another major problem is the fact that tank tops are even banned in physical education classes. Students are allowed to wear sweat pants in the winter months to keep themselves warm, but get points deducted if they decide to wear a tank top on a day that the class spends forty minutes on the football field in the smoldering summer sun. I think that if the school were to become more lenient on the tank top rule, students will feel more comfortable in the school during the warmer months, and they will spend less time complaining about the heat, allowing more ability to focus on schoolwork. In 2009, Elizabeth Forward banned students from wearing jeans with holes in them. When the new rule was put into affect, students started a chain text message suggesting that everyone wear jeans with holes in them the next day. When the teachers and administration learned about the plan, they threatened the students with in school suspension each day they wore torn up jeans; this did not stop the students. The students believed that if enough of their peers participated, they could not be given in school suspension simply because they could not fit everyone in the in school suspension room. • 22. The Drawbacks of Gun Control Legislation Gun control is many issues of this nation summed up into two words. In the point of view of some people gun control is a crime issue, while to others it is a rights issue. Gun control also is a safety issue and believe it or not, an education issue. Within each of these problems, there are those who want guncontrol legislation, and those like myself, who want less gun control legislation. The second amendment states that we as citizens have the right to bear arms and protect ourselves. Gun control only keeps the good guys from obtaining firearms. Bad guys will always have ways of getting weapons, whether it be from the black market, cross borders, or illegal street sales. Another drawback of any and all gun control legislation is that they only affect law abiding citizens. By clarification a criminal is someone who breaks the law. Therefore, passing gun control legislation to control crime committed by criminals is disagreeable. According to the (NRA) National Rifle Association, only four criminals have been taken into custody while attempting to legally purchase a firearm. Criminals do not purchase guns legally. They have other ways to get guns, such as the black market or theft. Many citizens are for new gun control laws, but many are against them. The main causes of this economic collapse are the loss of thousands of manufacturing jobs in the state of Michigan due to globalization, the subtle racism of residents leading to the suburbanization of the Detroit area, and a group of crooked municipal government leaders that stole from the community. Despite these overwhelming obstacles Detroit is on the mend, and many see a bright future for this once great city. It is however, important to note that everybody have a weakness, and the same remains true when referring to a cities infrastructure. The most astounding reason for the quick decline of Detroit was the closure of many automotive factories and the deterioration of the American auto industry. Detroit was a city with everything going for it. Its quick economic growth in the early 20th century had a lot to do with its geographical location. It was located close to the nations major coal and iron distributors and it was easily accessible by water via the Detroit River. Edmund Wilson wrote in a critique of Detroit, You can see here, as it is impossible to do in a more varied and complex city, the whole structure of an industrial society. • 25. Application of the Vitalistic and Mechanistic Philosophies... With regards to vitalism and mechanism, there lacks a distinct boundary separating these two scientific philosophies. However, their implications and biases when slanted either particular way are significant enough to observe. Natural history has been the subject of great debate, scrutiny, and passion amongst many scientists from early on in biologyto present times. Currently mechanism has risen to be the dominant theory in biology, but not without hardship and deep philosophical reasoning supported by empirical evidence. To understand these two philosophies, it s imperative to establish a clear understanding of what each category represents. The mechanistic philosophy purports that life operates as mechanical process governed by the fundamental physical laws provided via the universe. This philosophy goes further in thought that there is not necessarily a designer or ultimate purpose for the execution of life in general. In contrast, vitalist philosophy claims that there is an innate specific quality and function that gives existence its ultimate characteristics. Folks in this line of thought tend to argue further that there is definite design and purpose living entities, implying the existence of a celestial super power or being that interacts making life what it is. Many of the 19th century occupations have vanished because of changes in taste, socials customs, and technological advances (Pool 235). While some of the men during the Regency period were extremely wealthy, there were others that faced financial hardships (Grace). Most of time, the road of apprenticeship often led to a successful life and good fortune (Pool 240). However, Hardy re imagines this icon in his poem The Convergence of the Twain. Instead of an explicit critique of the ship s ostentatious vanity, Hardy sees The Titanic s sinking as the judgment for its vaingloriousness and a product of the ship s conception, development, and wedding to fate. The poem s organization emphasizes a contrast between different states of the ship s existence. In fact, the author answers how the ship came to being sunk as the poem progresses. The ship, which came Deep from human vanity/ And the pride of Life that planned her , falls out of grace In a solitude of the sea . After the source of its vitality is engulfed by death ( Steel chambers, late the pyres/ Of her salamandrine fires ) , the ship finds itself in an underwater hell where Cold currents thrid, and turn to rhythmic tidal lyres , and grotesque, slimed, dumb, indifferent creatures profanate what were once Jewels in joy designed . An inhabitant of this hellish habitat, seeing this gloriousness in vain in such a deprecated state, asks: What is this doing here? The speaker answers this question by describing how destiny prepared a sinister mate... A shape of Ice, for the time far and dissociate and how In shadowy silent distance grew the Iceberg too... as the smart ship grew In stature, grace, and hue . Then, the ship and the iceberg finally converge being anon twin halves of one august event at the discretion of destiny, also known as The Spinner of the Years . It doesn t matter how Deep from human vanity or how many Jewels in joy designed characterize mankind s power; It is all under the jurisdiction of fate. When considering the character of Montresor of Edgar Allen Poe s The Cask of Amontillado, people often end the story either feeling disturbed, satisfied, or both. For those in favor of satisfaction we can derive that they understand the justification on Montresor s side of it. At times, pride is to be considered a form of dignity (Neu 55). A sense of dignity indeed, for it was that dignity that prompted such a strong desire to sin. The nature of my soul, is what Montresor tells us whilst vowing silent vengeance over an insult; a thought befitting a person aware of their own pride (Poe 174). Our protagonist feels no remorse since he believes he is in the right. Professor Jerome Neu of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. The Setting In The Most Dangerous Game A man falls overboard and is lost at sea. He washes up on a strange island with no means of escape and no possible way of contacting anyone to rescue him. He is trapped on the island. This is one way the setting of The Most Dangerous Game enhances the plot by adding suspense, action and mystifying image in the readers of the setting and adding an atmosphere of mystery. The first area that the setting enhances the plot is in the feeling of suspense in the story. If the story hadn t taken in a place with thick forest, a large swamp, and most of all being on an island, this story wouldn t have as interesting or suspenseful as it is. Since the setting is on an island with only Rainsford and Zaroff, this gives a feeling of being trapped. As there is no escape but if the story was on the mainland there would be a much easier means of escape. The forest also adds greatly to the plot, as without the forest Rainsford could not have hid as well as he did, set many traps to help even odds, and beat the Zaroff at his own game and ambush him in his own home. Without these key setting pieces, The Most Dangerous Game would have been a much duller story. 2 Potempa The mystery the setting gives to the story is one of the major plot components that keeps The Most Dangerous Game a constant page turner. If the setting hadn t been on the ocean in the beginning, it would have been impossible for Rainsford to have ever fallen overboard and wash up on Zaroff s island. If Rainsford had never washed up on the island, there never would have been a hunt and the event that happen during the hunt. Without the setting being a thick overgrown jungle, Rainsford would have never been able to survive for as long as he did. The jungle setting allowed Rainsford to make liberal use of traps and false trails to trick Zaroff and buy himself time. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. ASD Intervention Essay Another method that is commonly used as an intervention for students with ASD is the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). ESDM is an inclusive behavioral intervention for infants to preschool aged children (Dawson et al., 2009; Vivanti et al., 2014). The learning objectives are based on individual strengths and weaknesses, with a focus on developmental fields that are foundational to social and social cognitive learning and development (Vivanti et al., 2014). The students with ASD work to enhance their verbal and nonverbal communication, emotion sharing, imitation, joint attention, play, social orienting, and attention (Rogers et al., 2012). The ESDM program outlines the skills taught at certain times and the teaching interventions used to deliver the material. This early intervention is often performed in the child s natural environment such as the home with trained professionals and parents, but is also performed in group settings (Dawson et al., 2009; Vismara Rogers, 2008; Vivanti et al., 2014). ESDM is often performed in a 1:1 setting, but it has also been performed in larger group settings with a 1:3 ratio (Dawson et al., 2009; Vismara Rogers, 2008; Vivanti et al., 2014). This intervention incorporates ABA with developmental and relationship based approaches (Dawson et al., 2009). ESDM employs strategies that involve interpersonal ... Social stories should have four basic types of sentences: descriptive, directive, perspective, and affirmative (Delano Snell, 2006). A reinforcement system can be initially introduced as well to encourage the positive behaviors. Research suggests that when the reinforcement is removed while the social story remains, the disruptive behaviors continue to diminish (Agosta et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Fifa s Corruption Of Soccer Games Envision attending a game of your favorite sports team, already knowing who the winner of the match. How fun would that be to watch? Whether you are betting real money on the game or not, the game would be boring to watch. The possibility of this attending such a scenario does exist for the FIFA world cup provided that FIFA s corruption is allowed to keep manifesting. FIFA, also known as the FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de Football Association and the governing body of soccer, who creates and outlines the rules of the games, is suspected of corruption and it could potentially harm the quality of soccer games. If this happens, the social and fun aspect of the world cup would be entirely diminished. Think of if this happens to your favorite sport. You re throwing a barbeque party celebrating the superbowl, and you know the Patriots are going to win this year. Not because you believe in their skill but because it has all been staged. This leads me to my main point, if FIFA s alleged corruption continues to knowingly grow and something isn t done, it will hinder the prestige the FIFA World Cup . While some may argue soccer has become an important part of many countries history and FIFA has become too big to fail, if matches become more about bribes, politics, and personal bias in a game where outcomes should be decided by skill, people will lose interest. You might think that this doesn t matter and it is only soccer. But in reality, FIFA s corruption is hurting people too. Did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
