Risk Assessment
Before anyof my cast or crewmembersgetreadyforthe film, Iwill carry outa formal risk
assessmentlookingforpotential hazards(nomatterhow small) andstopthemfromhappening.This
assessmentcouldbe formattedontoaworddocumentor itcouldbe hand written.In bothcases,it
will needtobe signedoff bythe directorandthe produceron set,for healthandsafetyreasons.
An example of apotential riskcouldbe whenwe filmonthe roadfor the bus stopscene,a car could
come out of nowhere andrun us all over. Althoughthisisveryunlikely,itisstill apossibility.Thisis
whyI have contactedthe council and askedforthe roads to be closedfora shortdurationof the
day.Lettingthe publicknowthatthe roadswill be closed,isagreat wayto decrease the chancesof
it happening,asitgivespeoplenotice.
Also,the medical history(includingallergies) will be checkedbefore anylocationorthe catering
companyisfinalised. Thisistomake sure thatno one will getpoisonedandthatthe lightfilters
won’tcause anyone to go inany type of distress,like aseizure.Bymakingsure thisriskassessmentis
completed,itwillkeepeveryone onsethappyandhealthy,withthe addedbonusof nolegal fees.
