  • #18 Get them to fill in the blanks. Write answers anywhere in their book. They can work with a partner. They can use the information from the book to help them. The explanations from the book might suffice for some people. These examples might help for others.
  • #27 The winning team in my class will simply win the ability to choose another team who will have to get up and act out their festival. (example – pretend they’re running while flipping pancakes). The winning team can also request a song to be played on YouTube while the chosen acting team acts. I got the acting team to act for 30 seconds while the music was playing.
  • #31 Ask students to give me advice after telling them that I forgot my mother’s birthday and she’s very angry.
  • #38 After they finish all of these slides, I’ll go back to this slide and highlight the English oddity of “make a friend” being OK, but how “make a girlfriend/boyfriend” sounds awkward.
  • #39 After they finish all of these slides, I’ll go back to this slide and highlight the difference in use of bored and boring.
