We are starting Unit 5 today!
No Live Learning next week
1st Semester Reminders:
 Submit any incomplete summative assessments
 End of Semester – December 18th
Goal:
 Know and
understand the
scales for unit 5
 Identify solution(s)
to a system of
equations
 Graph a linear
equation
Agenda:
 Unit 5 Standard
 Find a Solution to a
system of equations
 Graph a linear
equation
1. Attend all Live Learning Classes
2. Take notes while in class
3. Participate during class
4. Ask questions
5. Complete the formative assessments (Practice!!!)
6. Stay after class if you have questions
Level 3:
Level 2:
Level 3: Solve real world and mathematical
problems leading to two linear equations in two
variables graphically
A system of equations is a set of two or
more equations that contain two or more
variables.
Level 2: Graph two linear equations on one
coordinate plane
Level 2: Write an equation in slope intercept form
Level 2: Understand that the solution to a system of
two linear equations in two variables corresponds to
the points of intersection of their graphs
Level 3:
Level 2:
Level 3: Solve real world and mathematical
problems leading to two linear equations in two
variables algebraically
Level 2: Solve linear equations algebraically
y = x + 3
A solution of a system of equations is a
set of values that are solutions of all of the
equations. If the system has two variables,
the solutions can be written as ordered pairs.
3 Methods:
1.Graphically
2.Algebraically – Using Substitution
3.Algebraically – Using Elimination
Today we introduced unit 5 and identified solutions to
system of equations. We also worked on a level 2 skill
for solving a system of equations by graphing. You
need to be able to graph a couple of lines on the same
graph to find a solution to a system of equations
graphically.
What should you do now?
 Practice IXL skills Y.1 and X.9
