Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

advertisements.

What is the product being advertised?
I have chosen to advertise Wireless festival for my inspiration as I think they use different
types of advertisements I could then analyse for my final products which will be a poster and
advert.
What are the Aims and Objectives you are trying to achieve?
Aims: The Wireless festival's aims are to create as many advertisements for the festival so
that it is known and popular to the public. They have included an appealing background on
the poster in order to catch their audience’s attention. Furthermore, they have also included
bright and bold colours such as dark pink, blue and purple in order to catch a younger
audience to their event. They plan to increase their sales by providing people with
advertisements at their best quality. Overall they plan to increase brand awareness in order to
make the festival known and popular.
Objectives: The festival’s objectives are to introduce people to the festival and hope they
will have a good experience; they plan to list every act that is performing onto the poster or
advert so they will have an understanding about what the festival is going to be like. They
plan to include an appealing
Target Audience
Maslow – for Maslow, it would fit into the category of Explorers because the readers will
experience different advertisements from the audio-visual and would want to find out more
information about the festival.
Katz – For Katz, the audio-visual would fit into the category of personal identification
because it would relate to the readers as the information is being produced for young people,
teenagers and young adults.
Hartley –For Hartley, the audio-visual would be aimed at 16-25 year olds and is mainly
aimed at both genders. For class, it would fit into the category of young working class
students, which means the audio visual for wireless is targeted at young people that have
working jobs.
Psychographics –For psychographics, the poster would fit into the category of ‘Reformers’
because they would select products for the best quality as the festival aim to be the best.
According to the socio-economic graph, the target audience for the wireless audio-visual
would fit into the category C because the target audience is aimed at mostly older people and
2. adults that share different interests in music.
Socio-economic needs – According to the socio-economic graph, the target audience for the
wireless audio-visual would fit into the category C because the target audience is aimed at
mostly older people and adults that share different interests in music.
What is the campaign message?
The audio visual for wireless festival’s' unique selling have firstly clearly shown viewers who
is going to be performing. For example they have done this by showing some of the artists
names in the audio visual so viewers will know what to expect. The wireless festival have
chosen these acts to perform because they consider to be popular and everyone seems to
know them. This could imply that more people will show up because they could hear an artist
that they enjoy listening to. The main message of the audio visual for viewers is to enjoy
themselves and listen to different types of music where they can share their experiences about
the festival to other people. Within the festival, they have people that like to represent it by
painting themselves in different colours on their faces to imply that it’s summer and they use
these colours to represent the festival overall to show they are having a good time.
Style or approach
Sound wave will be constructed outside so the audience will be able to experience the
performances from each artist that is going to be featured at the festival. Sound wave will
include the colours pink, purple, blue and green in order advertise the festival overall. I have
chosen these colours because they relate to young people and adults which I have selected to
be the target audience.
The genre for the festival Sound wave will feature pop music, hip hop and rap in order to
attract different types of people to the event.
Content
Sound wave will include the artist’s names to feature on the print based advertisements so
people will know who they will expect to see. I will also include the dates of each day from
the festival so people will know when they will want to go. This will then attract more
audiences as if they wouldn’t make the first date, they could go on the other dates that have
been offered.
For the festival Sound wave, I am going to be including pictures from the festival so people
will have an understanding about what type of festival it is. I am also going to include the
artist’s names that are going to be featured at the festival; I will do this by highlighting and
making the font larger for the more popular artists so the audience will know who is more
important and popular at the festival.
