Unilever began in 1890 when William Hesketh Lever created a simple bar of soap. In the 1900s, Unilever expanded into products made from oils and fats like soap and margarine. Today, Unilever has many popular brands and aims to create products that improve people's lives.
Ben and Jerry's started in 1978 with an ice cream-making course and $12,000 investment. The founders opened their first scoop shop in a renovated gas station, which became popular. Currently, Ben and Jerry's uses bright colors and cartoons in advertising perceived as child-oriented, but the document proposes a rebranding targeting adults by showing ice cream as refreshing after tiring activities.

2. HISTORY OF UNILEVER
Unilever was created in 1890 by William Hesketh Lever, this
company started from the simple idea of creating a bar of
soap. With this bar of soap they managed to increase
cleanliness to lessen the work for women.
In the 1900s, Unilever started to create products made from
oil and fats, mostly soap and margarine.
In the 21st century Unilever have started to form products
which will create a better future with brands which able
people to feel good, look good and get more out of life.

4. Ben and Jerry’s
Ben and Jerry’s started in 1978 with a $5 correspondence course in
making ice-cream. They also had a $12,000 investment. Ben and Jerry
opened there first ice cream scoop shop which was located in a
renovated gas station in Burlington. After a year of owning the shop
they celebrated by giving out free scoops for the whole day. In 1981
Ben and Jerry’s was becoming more popular so the first franchised
scoop shop opened in Shelburne. In 1986 they created a Cowmobile,
which is a modified mobile home used to give free scoops of ice cream
using a cross country marketing drive.
Ben and Jerry’s ice
cream is for people at
any age, the way they
advertise the product
looks as if it is a
children's treat as
everything is bright
and colourful and
mostly cartoons.
7. Rebranding
Ben and Jerry’s is advertised for the
younger generation using animations
which are bright and colourful. It may be
advertised for the younger generation but
the product is actually for people of any
age. My aim is to rebrand this product and
make it look more mature and for people
of 20+
8. My new target audience will be adults. It will be advertised with real life
characters instead of animated/cartoon characters.
My advert will show how refreshing Ben and Jerry’s actually is. After out
with your friends and come in completely exhausted, a Ben and Jerry’s
is the answer to your solution. The advert will be of a character who is
out doing tiring activities to then come home, aching and knackered to
then have a tub of Ben and Jerry’s. The ice cold treat will be shown to
refresh your body.
The advert will be shown on TV at around 7pm when everyone has
been home from work, had dinner and sat down to watch television,
the ad will also pop up on YouTube so that the brand identity is
increased
Rebranding
9. BARB
This chart shows how many
viewers each TV channel has.
BBC do not show adverts so
therefor I will choose for my
advert to be on ITV as it is the
third top in the most popular.
The more viewers, the more the
brand identity will increase.
