Umberto Boccioni was an influential Italian artist and leading figure of the Futurism movement in the early 20th century. He developed Futurism's theories and introduced dynamic, cubist-inspired styles through both his paintings and sculptures. Two of his most famous works were Dynamism of a Soccer Player (1913), which depicted a player in motion through cubist techniques, and The City Rises (1910). Boccioni drew inspiration from Cubism, the work of artists like Cezanne and Rodin, and sought to portray movement and modern life through innovative techniques that brought subjects off the canvas.
