2. •The Abu Dhabi Executive Council recently approved a
number of changes that will improve infrastructure in the
emirate. The referendum includes upgrades to water
distribution networks across the emirate and an order for
the installation of generators to bring new power stations
into operation in response to the emirate's growing need
for electricity.

3. •The Executive Council also approved several other
infrastructure projects, such as new sanitation works,
storm-water drains, and roads in the municipality of Al Ain.
In total, the council called for the construction of more than
41 kilometers of asphalt, including more than 4,000
parking spaces and 24 kilometers of public road.

4. •The council's decision falls in line with its ongoing efforts
to keep up with the needs of a growing urban population.
As Abu Dhabi continues to grow, infrastructure
improvements such as these will become ever more vital
to the more than 2 million people living in the emirate, the
largest of the seven that make up the United Arab
Emirates.
