Expands Airport Punctuality
Monitoring

2. Introduction
● The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has added 14
airports to its punctuality monitoring regimen, now
tracking the average delays and on-time performance
of 24 high-traffic airports across the United Kingdom.
Seeking to provide more information to help
passengers compare airlines and make informed travel
plans, the CAA more than doubled its list of monitored
airports with the recent update.

3. Airports
● The regulatory body now tracks the punctuality of
both the Belfast International and Belfast City
airports, as well as the airports of Aberdeen,
Bournemouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Doncaster Sheffield,
Durham Tees Valley, East Midlands, Exeter, Jersey,
Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, and Southampton. The
regulatory agency previously set up monitoring
protocols for Birmingham, Edinburgh, Gatwick,
Glasgow, Heathrow, London City, Luton, Manchester,
Newcastle, and Stansted.

4. Update
● The update will allow air passengers to compare
the timeliness of 90 percent of all passenger
flights, up from 73 percent. The increase will
also allow for the monitoring of 97 percent of all
air passenger journeys.

5. Data
● The CAA began collecting its new punctuality
data in October 2014, allowing the agency to
provide a comprehensive fourth-quarter report.
● Additionally, CAA collected data from the fourth
quarter of 2013 in order to present a year-on-
year performance comparison. Interested parties
can access the new punctuality information for
the 24 UK airports on the CAA website,
www.caa.co.uk.
