2. We use would and wouldn’t to talk about
things we imagine or speculate about in the
present and future:
A: Would you open someone else’s e-mail?
B: No, I wouldn’t do that , would you?
A: I’d open it if it looked like a love letter!

3. We form this structure with would /
wouldn’t + infinitive without to.
Affirmative I would love to take a vacation
but I’m too busy.
Negative They wouldn’t leave London.

4. Adverbs of certainty (certainty, definitely,
probably) are used with would/woudn’t when
speculating:
o They’d probably fit in well.
o Ben certainly wouldn’t want to work for
such a small company.
o She’d definitely accept a job at this
company.
