1. When Luke gave us feedback on our idea, we discussed that Madeleine has an old typewriter, of the
times of World War II and it will be perfect for our sequence,however Luke told us that between
1940s and 1960s typewriters could developed significantly (changing size and design). Therefore, I
did research on the development of typewriters over last century so them with my group, we could
decide on the time period as we were thinking about setting our opening sequence in the 1920s.
That's the typewriter that we are going to use in out opening titles:
Model: Smith-Corona
1920s:
The Royal No. 10 has been introduced in 1926. This was a complex typewriter, with a distinctive
feature - glass inserts. Main material used to manufacture was metal.
1930s:
The Hermes baby was introduced in 1938. That is when the
biggest change in the development of typewriters happened.
Even though metal was still used, they significantly change their
shape, became lower and smoother, and their size, became much
smaller and compact. Glass inserts were no longer used. This model was very popular till 1940s.

2. 1950s:
The Smith-Corona Silent-Super has been introduce in 1950s. The
typewriter became smaller, more automized and now along with
metal, plastic was used to make the device lighter.
At the same time, the Underwood Deluxe Quite Tab has been introduced. Design was slightly
different to the previous model and the size decreased.
The Olivetti Lettera 22 was also very popular with writers and it was called 'ultraportable' due to it
small size.

3. Another portable typewriter was called The Gossen Tippa Pilot and it was widely used. Main country
of production of this model was Germany.
This research showed that the typewriter that we have wouldn't fit in the 1920s time period. This
typewriter perfectly fit I the 1950s period so we discussed this and decided to set our opening
sequence in this time period.
