This document provides instructions for folding napkins into several different shapes and styles. It includes steps to create the pyramid, sail, banana, candle, bishop, and standing napkin folds. The pyramid fold creates a triangular shape in 8 steps. The sail fold stands upright using 4 steps to form pointed corners. The banana fold turns the napkin into a peeled banana shape over 7 steps and requires turning it twice.

1. Types of Napkins
The Pyramid NapkinFold:
This classy napkin folding technique is simple, fast, and can be
made easily with most napkins. If the napkin being used in thin and flops easily then iron it with
light starch prior to folding and it will turn out perfectly !
Step one:
Lay the napkin flat out in front of you. If the napkin has tags, labels or folded over sown seams
make sure these are facing up.
Step two:
Fold the napkin diagonally in half.
Step three:
Arrange the napkin so the open end of the triangle is facing away form you.
Step four:
Fold the bottom right corner up towards the centre.
Step five:
Repeat the same fold but this time on the left.
Step six:
Flip the napkin over so the open end is facing away form you.
Step seven:

2. Fold the napkin in half taking the bottom point of the diamond to the top.
Step eight:
Tuck your thumbs underneath the centre of the triangle and at the same time. Life the middle
up whilst bringing the two corners of the triangle together.
The sail napkin fold:
This fold works best with a stiff napkin. This fold is simple to make and makes a lovely display
on your dinner table. This is one of the simplest standing napkin designs there are, but you will
still need a stiff napkin if you expect it to stand without flopping over.
Step one:
Lay the napkin out in front of you. If your napkin has any tags, labels or a folded over seam
make sure this is facing up to begin with.
Step two:
Fold he napkin in half to the opening is facing towards you.
Step three:
take the top right corner and fold it diagonally so it meets the bottom edge.
Step four:
Repeat the same process with the let hand side.

3. Step five:
Place your thumbs underneath the napkin and with your fingers placed on top, bring your thumbs
upwards and gentle press down with your fingers. Keep hold of it. This step makes it look like
the Pyramid Napkin Folding method.
Step six: The next step will make it seem as though your praying to some napkin God. Take
your thumbs out from the centre of the napkin so its just placed between your hands. Now bring
your hands up towards your chin and being to chant “our saviour” I jest! However, the napkin
should now be the correct way up and you can place it upon the table knowing that you have
successfully followed the napkin folding instructions.
Banana napkin folding:
Folding a napkin to resemble a banana being peeled is complicated, takes time, and necessitates
turning the napkin over twice.

4. 1: Place the napkin.

4: Fold bottom point 2/3 way to top and fold back onto itself.
5: Turn napkin over bring the corners together.
6; Peel two top corners to make banana.
7: Open base of fold and stand upright. Completed the banana
. Candle fold napkin
Good free napkin folding instructions are hard to come by. When it comes to folds like The
Candle fold it may look pretty simple of the face of things but there is a lot of napkin folding
technique goes in to making it stand vertically. This fold can also benefits from the use of starch
if your napkins are a little limp .The candle fold can also provide for some pre meal fun. Adding
small slips of paper to the middle with jokes or games like ‘what celebrity am I’ could
potentially buy you some vital kitchen pre time.

5. Step one:
Lay the napkin flat out in front of you. If the napkin has seams, labels or tags make sure they are
facing up so when the fold is complete they aren’t showing.
Step two:
Fold diagonally in half making a triangle.
Step three:
Fold the napkin up about an inch – inch and a half, along the fold you just made a.k.a the longest
side.
Step four:
Its up to you what side you roll from it doesn’t really matter. Just make sure your rolling along
the longest length of the napkin and that your doing it tight!
Step five:
Now here comes the tricky bit. When you are about three – five inches away form the other side.
Take the unrolled tip and bring it around in a semi circle like motion on the out side of the
napkin to where roll is.
You now want to roll the napkin over the tip and into the pocket you’ve just created. This will
ensure that the napkin stays tightly in place.
Step six:

6. Let her take her first …step? It can be pretty tricky to get it to stand up on its own but just give it
a bit of a man handle.
Bishop fold napkin:
This is a classic dinner napkin fold, but it can be difficult to line up the corners in the cap.
Some starch and an iron make it easier to be precise while folding this one….and yes I know
it’s not sitting in the center of the plate, next time I’ll stay out of the cooking wine, I
promise.

6: Foldthe bottomhalf of the napkinupand awayfromyou,layingitso the far edgesrun ontop of one
other.
7: Reachunderneathof the napkinandpull outthe flapon the right,makingthe near-side come totwo
pointsas seeninthe picture.
8: Gentlyroll the lefthalf of the lefttriangle overandtuckit’send underneaththe righttriangle.

7. 9: Flip the napkin over, points pointing away from you.
10: Fold the right-triangle to the left, tucking it’s end into the other triangle.
11: Open up the hat and press the material inside down to fill it out so that it becomes circular,
this may take a little fidgeting.
Standing fold napkin:
Elegant and decorative, this is a classic napkin folding technique. As usual, and iron
helps but is not necessary.
1: Lay the napkin face-down in front of you.
2: Fold the napkin in half and orient the open end towards you.
3: Fold the napkin like an accordion starting at either narrow end. Leave one end with 2-3
inches of unfolded napkin to support the standing fan.
4: Fold the napkin in half with the accordion folds on the outside.
5: Grasp the unfolded corners where they meet on the open end and fold them in diagonally,
tucking them under the accordion folds.
6: Open it and stand it up. A beautiful fan for a beautiful dinner.
