The similarities in Christianity to the Norse religions are represented by the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son who is Jesus and the Holy Spirit. One God in three persons, the three persons are distinct, yet are one in substance, essence and nature. In this context, "nature" is what one is, while a "person" is who one is.
The document discusses several key aspects of Islamic faith and compares them to Christian beliefs. It notes that Islam, like Christianity, teaches that those who disobey God will be punished in Hell, while the obedient will be rewarded in Paradise. However, Islam divides both Hell and Paradise into numerous levels. The document also discusses the Book of Enoch, noting that it describes ten levels of Heaven and influences some Christian beliefs, though it is not part of the biblical canon. Finally, it compares Islamic and Catholic concepts of purgatory.
This document discusses the symbolism in the Bible of Elijah and the false prophet. It argues that in the last days, Elijah represents God's end-time church that comes with a message like Elijah's original message against sun worship and idolatry. The false prophet represents apostate Protestantism. It analyzes the symbolism of Jezebel representing the papacy and explains how Elijah's coming in the last days can be understood through the historical-prophetic framework of the seven churches and the 2300 day prophecy of Daniel 8, pointing to 1844 and the judgment of the living.
The document provides information about Jesus Christ's ascension to heaven according to Christian theology. It includes:
1) Bible verses and hymns related to the ascension, with analysis of passages from the Old and New Testaments describing Jesus returning to God in heaven.
2) Discussion of how the ascension fits within the context of Jewish traditions like the Feast of Weeks and significance of the "right hand".
3) Explanation of how Christ's exaltation through the ascension establishes his authority and role as prophet, priest and king for the benefit of believers.
This is a study of Jesus being the mystery of the Gospel. It was hidden for all of history but Jesus made it known and it united the Jews and Gentiles in one body.

The document discusses the mark of the beast as described in Revelation. It identifies the beast as the papacy based on several clues from Revelation and Daniel. The papacy received its seat and authority from pagan Rome. It claims to forgive sins and demands worship, fitting the characteristics of blasphemy. The mark of the beast will be enforced by the papacy near the end of time and involves rejecting God's commandments. The number of the beast, 666, is identified with titles for the pope. In contrast, God's people will keep His commandments and have the seal of God, identified as the seventh-day Sabbath.
Describes how idolatry and paganism infiltrated the Church. Can be used effectively to teach Roman Catholics and Oriental Church members. Includes brief notes on middle eastern, mesopotamian, egyptian, sumerian, greek, Hindu religions and cults

There is a huge error in the thinking of Church caused by some erroneous teaching by popular preachers. What is the role God has for the Jews in His redemption plan? Has the Church 'replaced' Israel? Has God failed in His promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? What is the role of the True Israel / True Jew and the Church together in God's redemptive ministry? Read the entire history of God's redemption plan still continuing and will be completed with a huge role by the Messianic Jews and the Church together in the near future. Spiritual warfare history can also be understood from this presentation. Be blessed and be a blessing! Nirmal Nathan, Trichy, India.
1. Jesus experienced normal human development and growth as a child, increasing in wisdom and stature without supernatural endowments.
2. He was nurtured and guided by his parents Mary and Joseph according to his divine character and mission.
3. Though divine, Jesus took the human nature with its liabilities and was tempted in all points as humans are, without sin, in order to understand and succor humanity.
This document provides a summary of Lesson 9 from a Bible study series on the book of Revelation. It discusses chapters 13:1-18 which describe two beasts - the beast from the sea and the beast from the earth. The beast from the sea is identified as the papacy due to its activities between 538AD-1798AD. The beast from the earth is identified as the United States due to its role in forming an image of the first beast. The mark of the beast represents worship of God or man, and will separate people into two groups before Christ's second coming. The document encourages downloading the full 13 part Bible study series.
This document discusses the roots of true worship and a revival of biblical truth in the last days. It argues that Christianity has detached itself from its Jewish roots and downplayed the significance of Jesus being born a Jew who observed Jewish laws. It predicts a return to original biblical teachings before Jesus' return, including a revival of deeper truths that will differ from mainstream Christianity. This restoration message will prepare people for Jesus' coming and involve renewed study of the Old Testament to understand God's perspective.
Book of Daniel, Gospels, Epistle to Thessalonian church and the Book of Revelation give details of an unholy alliance of wicked forces in spiritual realm and on earth. There have been 7 empires described in the Bible impacting God's people in one way or another. Behind each of these 7 empires were evil spirits of power controlling them for specific purpose. These spirits are at work even today working against God and His people, to bring in the unholy trinity of Satan, Antichrist and False Prophet into ultimate dominion on earth, very soon. Mysteriously United Nations, European Union, Statesmen of repute in world governments, financial institutions etc are controlled by highly secretive Illuminati and its tentacles like Freemasons, Club of Rome, New Age and so on. These are highly secretive in their strategy and manoeuvres but God's people can discern and identify them and keep themselves at a safe distance. This presentation helps identify these evil forces and their strategies. May this be an eye opener for the Church in spiritual warfare! 1) The document discusses the "divine mystery" that was hidden for centuries but is now revealed through the church - that mystery is God's plan for salvation through Jesus Christ.
2) It explains how symbolic worship in the Old Testament pointed to the coming Savior, Jesus, and how the New Testament era focuses on spiritual worship through faith in Christ.
3) The key message is that Christians now own the "divine mystery" of salvation through Christ, which was foreshadowed throughout the Old Testament and fulfilled by Jesus; this truth is the most valuable thing one can possess.
The great controversy is the overarching concept that provides coherence to Christian fundamental beliefs. It refers to the cosmic conflict between Christ and Satan over God's character and authority. Key passages describe the origin of this conflict in heaven and Satan's rebellion due to pride. God's response is to establish a system of worship through sacrifices that point to His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Satan works to undermine this plan by distorting worship and accusing believers. The conflict will culminate with Christ's second coming to eradicate evil and sin, allowing God to restore His original purpose for creation.
This document provides a verse-by-verse commentary on Daniel chapter 12. It summarizes each verse or section, highlighting the key points and connections to other Bible prophecies. The commentary explains that Daniel chapter 12 outlines the events surrounding Christ's second coming, including the great time of trouble, the resurrection of the righteous and wicked, and the vindication of God's faithful people. It notes that some prophecies were sealed until the time of the end to increase knowledge and understanding among God's wise and purified people.
This is a study of Jesus working through Paul. Paul gloried in Jesus for it was Jesus working through him that brought about so many wonderful things like bringing salvation to the Gentiles.
Bible Alive Jesus Christ 008: “The Kingdom of God II--Miracles and Message”BibleAlive
The document provides an overview of the key messages and themes from a class on the Kingdom of God based on Jesus' teachings. It discusses how Jesus' message was that the Kingdom of God is at hand, which was different than the violent end times expected by Jews. It explores Jesus' use of parables like the banquet to convey the Kingdom, and how his love was "stupid" and "incomprehensible" in forgiving and showing compassion towards all.
The document provides an overview of historic premillennialism as an eschatological view. It discusses that under this view:
- Christ will return bodily to earth and begin a 1000 year reign (millennium)
- Satan will be bound for 1000 years and unable to deceive nations
- This will be a time of righteousness and peace on earth before Satan is released again for a final rebellion crushed by Christ
- There is one second coming of Christ with no prior rapture or tribulation period.
1) The main problem with dispensational futurism according to the document is that it hides the true identity of the Antichrist by placing the prophecies about him in a fictional 7-year tribulation period in the future, rather than recognizing that he has already appeared.
2) The document argues that the Antichrist came out of the church, as the many antichrists mentioned in the Bible came from within the early church. The Reformers like Luther and Calvin identified the Papacy and Roman Catholic Church as the fulfillment of the Antichrist prophecies.
3) The Protestant Reformation occurred as Protestants protested the corruption of the Catholic Church and recognized the Papacy as the Ant

The document discusses spiritual warfare and temptation based on 1 Corinthians 10:1-13. It summarizes how God protected and provided for the Israelites after delivering them from Egypt but they still displeased God through idolatry, sexual immorality, testing God, and grumbling. Paul warns the Corinthians not to commit these same sins. The Israelites' failures are examples for believers to learn from so as not to fall into temptation. We should stand firm in faith and resist evil desires through God's strength and the weapons of righteousness.
The document discusses the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, beginning with verses from the Bible about monotheism and faith in God. It then discusses how the Trinity belief developed over time, with influences from pagan religions. The Trinity holds that God exists as three persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) but is one being. The document examines the origins and evolution of the Trinity doctrine in early Christian thinkers and ecumenical councils, noting debates between views.

1. Athanasius argues that Christ, as the Word made flesh, is the true man for all seasons who stood against the world in defending orthodox Christianity.
2. The document discusses five snapshots from Athanasius' work "On the Incarnation" that are relevant to the postmodern situation, including that Christ is the agent of both creation and salvation, human history has meaning because of the incarnation, Christians die a different death due to the resurrection, and that the Gospel leads to peace rather than militarism.
3. It asserts that Athanasius provides a clear understanding of the connection between creation and redemption through Christ that contrasts with vague and confused perspectives today.
The effect of paganism on christianitygreatest man
The document discusses how many ancient pagan religions had beliefs that were later incorporated into Christianity, such as the concept of a divine trinity and a god who was crucified for human sins. It provides examples of 16 pagan gods from various cultures such as India, Syria, Mexico, Egypt, and Rome whose stories involved being crucified, having virgin births, performing miracles, and resurrecting from death. The document argues this shows Christianity was influenced by older pagan religions and adapted some of their beliefs and practices.

A comparison of Early Christianity and the Mystery religions of Rome in the 2nd Century. More specifically I compare baptism as it is depicted in Tertullian's famous work "On Baptism" to its portrayal in Apuleius' novel "The Golden Ass."
This document contains the text from a worship service at Hope in the Word Christian Ministries International. It discusses the doctrine of sola fide, or faith alone, which was a central teaching of the Protestant Reformation. It provides several Bible verses on faith from the books of Hebrews and Daniel. The sermon emphasizes that people of faith throughout history trusted God even during persecution, looking forward to resurrection and an eternal reward in heaven.
This document discusses the book of Hebrews and its prophetic characteristics. It argues that Hebrews was intended as a prophetic exhortation delivered orally, like a sermon, rather than a traditional letter. The document outlines how Hebrews alternates between warnings and encouragement, focuses on elevating Jesus, and uses a chiastic structure. It suggests the author was calling a group of Roman Christians to remain faithful to Jesus despite the risks of persecution and temptation to return to Judaism.

The document discusses the early Christian Church and its relationship with the Roman state and various heretical movements. It describes how Emperor Constantine intervened to support Christianity and convened the First Council of Nicaea in 325 CE to address the Arian heresy and formulate the Nicene Creed. Subsequent ecumenical councils were held to settle other Christological controversies, such as the Council of Constantinople in 381 CE which clarified the Trinity. The Church worked to define orthodox doctrine and condemn heresies through these councils, with support from Roman emperors, in order to safeguard the true faith.
This document provides background information on the city of Sardis and summarizes the biblical passage of Revelation 3:1-6, which contains Jesus' message to the church in Sardis. It describes Sardis as a formerly great trade city that was conquered twice by stealth at night. The summary then analyzes Jesus' message to the church, noting that while they claim to be spiritually alive, they are in fact dead. Jesus commands them to strengthen their weak faith and repent or else he will come upon them unexpectedly, like a thief. However, a few in Sardis remained faithful, and Jesus promises they will walk with him in white.
This document provides a summary and analysis of religious references and connections in three works: Dracula, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and the short story "Repent, Harlequin!" Said the Ticktockman. For Dracula, it discusses how Stoker uses blood differently than in Christianity. For Narnia, it analyzes parallels between Aslan and Jesus Christ, particularly their resurrections. For "Repent, Harlequin!", it describes connections to Christianity through a controlling figure like God or religious rules. The document argues Christianity significantly influences these and other works in various forms.
Paul teaches that God has not rejected Israel and the Jewish people remain central to God's plans. While some Jewish people rejected Christ, their rejection was not complete or permanent. God will one day graft the Jewish people back into their own olive tree. Paul warns Christians not to be arrogant toward Jews but to see the blessings and spiritual foundations that have come from God's chosen people.

The document discusses various topics related to theology including arguments for the existence of God, the development of beliefs about the Trinity and divinity of Christ, and early Adventist views on the Trinity. It provides quotes from historical figures on their perspectives and describes how certain doctrines like the Trinity were formed through ecumenical councils and theological debates over time.

The word pastor comes from a Latin word which means “shepherd.” The New Testament presents two offices that constitute church leadership—elder/overseer and deacon. Paul lists the qualifications for elder/overseer in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9. Notice that in the 1 Timothy passage, Paul refers to them as overseers/bishop (episcopos in the Greek), and in Titus he refers to them as elders (presbuteros in Greek). From this it can be concluded that there is one office with different designations. The word elder refers to the life experience of the office holder, while the word overseer/bishop emphasizes the responsibility of the office holder to watch over the congregation and meet their spiritual needs.
Further, believers may have the “right” to do anything, but not everything is beneficial (1 Corinthians 10:23). Paul used the illustration of eating meat that had been dedicated to idols. To him, such a dedication meant nothing since idols are not real gods. However, he would abstain from eating meat for the good of others who might sin by following his example. Believers serve the Lord both through their personal lives and in their actions toward others.
According to Romans 8:29-30, God predetermined that certain individuals would be conformed to the likeness of His Son, be called, justified, and glorified. Essentially, God predetermines that certain individuals will be saved. Numerous scriptures refer to believers in Christ being chosen (Matthew 24:22, 31; Mark 13:20, 27; Romans 8:33, 9:11, 11:5-7, 28; Ephesians 1:11; Colossians 3:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:4; 1 Timothy 5:21; 2 Timothy 2:10; Titus 1:1; 1 Peter 1:1-2, 2:9; 2 Peter 1:10). Predestination is the biblical doctrine that God in His sovereignty chooses certain individuals to be saved, but this does not mean that all those who are saved were chosen in advance, just a select few for His purposes.
God makes a distinction between those who sin in ignorance and those who sin willfully (Numbers 15:27-31), repentance is always necessary to receive forgiveness (Mark 1:15; Acts 2:38; Acts 26:18). Repentance is literally a change in one’s attitude about God and accompanies saving faith in Christ (Acts 3:19; 20:21; 26:20).
Without it there can be no forgiveness. Jesus said, “No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3; cf. 17:3-4; 2 Peter 3:9).
To sin willfully is to be proud and presumptuous in one’s defiance of God (Psalm 19:13; Hebrews 10:26). Willful sins bring God’s judgment, sooner or later, but sins of ignorance are not excusable, either:
Negative theology asserts that God is essentially unknowable and focuses on describing what God is not rather than what He is. Positive theology makes affirmative statements about God's nature. While negative theology has its place in acknowledging limitations, the Bible primarily uses positive theology to describe God, such as portraying Him as good, merciful, and righteous. God has also chosen to reveal Himself through His incarnation in Jesus Christ and in the Bible.
The first thing to consider about Palm Sunday is the dispute surrounding the day of Jesus’ crucifixion, good Friday and the Sunday pre-ported to be the day of His resurrection. If Jesus did not die on a Friday, in brings into question NOT the occasion of Jesus’ entry into the city, but if this occurred on a Sunday. Palm Sunday is the day Christians celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, supposedly, one week before His resurrection (Matthew 21:1–11). As Jesus entered the holy city, He neared the culmination of a long journey toward Golgotha. Palm Sunday marked the start of what is often called “Passion Week,” the final seven days of Jesus’ earthly ministry. Palm Sunday was the “beginning of the end” of Jesus’ work on earth.
The short answer is Yes, according to Biblical context you will go to Hell, but thats the easy answer..I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to share the following.
If you consider yourself an atheist with a sincere interest in truth, there are several things about Christianity that's critical to understand. This article will solely deal with the biblical Christian faith which I subscribe to personally, and since this question is a biblical one I submit the following.
A cursory reading of the New Testament will reveal that the Catholic Church does not have its origin in the teachings of Jesus or His apostles. In the New Testament, there is no mention of the papacy, worship/adoration of Mary (or the immaculate conception of Mary, the perpetual virginity of Mary, the assumption of Mary, or Mary as co-redemptrix and mediatrix), petitioning saints in heaven for their prayers, apostolic succession, the ordinances of the church functioning as sacraments, infant baptism, confession of sin to a priest, purgatory, indulgences, or the equal authority of church tradition and Scripture.
“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:37-38
“Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.” Acts 10:47-48
Here Peter was describing separate events, repentance and receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior are single transactions that once done results in the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. These are distinct separate events from the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They are separate from baptism in Jesus’ name, which is NOT required for salvation nor is baptism required in order to receive the gifts of the Spirit.
In the eighteenth year of his reign, King Josiah of Judah ordered the caretakers of the Ark of the Covenant to return it to the temple in Jerusalem (2 Chronicles 35:1-6; cf. 2 Kings 23:21-23). That is the last time the ark’s location is mentioned in the Scriptures.

Blasphemy was a serious crime in the law God gave to Moses. The Israelites were to worship and obey God. In Leviticus 24:10–16, a man blasphemed the name of God. To the Hebrews, a name wasn’t just a convenient label. It was a symbolic representation of a person’s character. The man in Leviticus who blasphemed God’s name was stoned to death.
Genesis can be placed into six major contexts—Pre-creation, Creation (Gen 1-2); The Fall of man (Genesis 3-4); Noah through the Flood (Genesis 5-10); The Tower of Babel with the introduction of languages (Genesis 11:1-9); and The Patriarchal Era (Genesis 11:10-50). In each of these contexts—God, Man, Creation and World order are considered.
The book of Genesis begins by introducing God who existed before the Creation (Genesis 1:1). Genesis does not argue for the existence of God, rather it is written with the fundamental presupposition that before the world was created, God was––ie; “In the beginning God”.
Genesis also states that it was God who created the world (Genesis 1:1). The theological implication of (Genesis 1:1) is that God is self–existing with asiety, that He is eternal, that everything exists because He created it, and that He transcends Creation.
The main passage in the Bible that mentions the “mark of the beast” is Revelation 13:15-18. Other references can be found in Revelation 14:9, 11, 15:2, 16:2, 19:20, and 20:4. This mark acts as a seal for the followers of the Antichrist and false prophet (the spokesperson for the Antichrist).
The false prophet (the first beast) is the one who causes people to take this mark. The mark will be literally placed in the hand or forehead and will not simply be a card someone carries.
We have more questions about angels and demons than we have answers. Many times we have to make guesses and assumptions based on a few biblical facts. Angels are essentially spiritual beings without bodies. Hebrews 1:14 calls them ministering spirits. When they appear to people, they normally are seen with bodies. Sometimes they appear as ordinary men (Hebrews 13:2) or incredibly glorious men (Daniel 10:16) and sometimes as fantastic creatures (Isaiah 6:2; Ezekiel 1:4–14).
Many ancient manuscripts were lost or destroyed during Israel's turbulent history. The Old Testament text was standardized by the Masoretic Jews by the sixth century A.D., and all manuscripts that deviated from the Masoretic Text were evidently eliminated. But the existing Hebrew manuscripts are supplemented by the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Septuagint (a third-century B.C. Greek translation of the Old Testament), the Samaritan Pentateuch, and the Targums (ancient paraphrases of the Old Testament), as well as the Talmud (teachings and commentaries related to the Hebrew Scriptures).
Simon of Cyrene is mentioned in three of the four Gospels as the man impelled by the Roman soldiers to carry Jesus’ cross out of Jerusalem. His place of origin has led many to wonder if he was of African descent (and therefore black), or if he was simply born there as were many others of Greek, Roman, and Jewish descent.
Michelangelo’s statue of Moses on display in Vincoli, Rome, in the
Basilica of St. Peter in Chains, depicts Moses with two horns on his head. This horned portrayal of Moses by Michelangelo and by other artists in other works of art and literature stems from a passage in the book of Exodus.
Speaking in tongues first occurred on the day of Pentecost when the apostles spoke in other languages to share the gospel. According to Paul, speaking in tongues is valuable when interpreted so others can understand, but useless otherwise. There were those with the gift of interpreting tongues so non-speakers could understand. While some argue tongues ceased, scripture does not conclusively say so. If the gift is active today, it must be intelligible, for communicating with others, and interpreted according to Paul's instructions. Millions continue experiencing this gift as evidence it continues.
The phrase forbidden fruit has come to mean “something desirable but off limits.” The idea of forbidden fruit originated with the biblical account of the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, committing the first sin on earth. Genesis 3 gives the details of mankind’s first temptation. Satan, in the form of a serpent, convinced Eve that she had misunderstood God’s clearly stated command not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3:4–5).
The Old Testament was written between 1400 BC and 400 BC. It is divided into five sections - the Pentateuch (Genesis to Deuteronomy), historical books (Joshua to Esther), poetic books (Job to Song of Solomon), major prophets (Isaiah to Daniel), and minor prophets (Hosea to Malachi). Scholars use internal evidence like writing style, people and places mentioned, as well as external evidence like historical records, to determine the approximate dates of authorship for each book. Dating is also done through cross-referencing between biblical books and historical events described within.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

1. Two Coins for the Boatman
Dr. Tony Mariot
Part Two
The similarities in Christianity to the Norse religions are represented by the Trinity of God the
Father, God the Son who is Jesus and the Holy Spirit. One God in three persons, the three
persons are distinct, yet are one in substance, essence and nature. In this context, "nature" is what
one is, while a "person" is who one is.
The work of creation and grace is seen as a single operation common to all three divine persons
in which each demonstrates what is proper to him in the Trinity, so that all things are "from the
Father", "through the Son" and "in the Holy Spirit". The Father is NOT the Son or Holy Spirit,
The Son is NOT the Father or Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is NOT the Father or the Son.
Tony Mariot Two Coins for The Boatman 2 Page ! of !1 12
2. The shield of the Trinity.
In Christianity there is a final judgment where God is on a Great White Throne with Jesus sits on
His right hand side. Those who sided against God and Jesus in life are ultimately cast into a Lake
of Fire by Angels. (Rev. 20:11-15, Matthew 20:20-23, 25:31-41, Acts 2:30-33, Matthew
13:41-43, 49-50).
HEAVEN AND HELL
In Greek mythology, the soul would be sent to either Elysium, Tartarus or the Asphodel Fields.
Elysium, was initially a separate place from Hades, and was reserved for those who were related
to the gods. Elysium later expanded to include the righteous and the heroic. These souls would
remain in Elysium after death and live a blessed and happy life indulging in whatever
employment they had enjoyed in life. The Elysian Fields consisted of green fields, valleys and
mountains, everyone there was peaceful and contented, and the Sun always shined there.
Elysium is similar
to Heaven in
Christianity which
has mansions and
rewards given to
Christians by Jesus
at the judgment
seat of Christ. An
exception in
Heaven from
Elysium, is there is
no job or work in
Heaven. Heaven is
a large part of the
Christian faith, in
the Bible, there are
691 verses that
speak of Heaven.
(John 14:2, 2
Corinthians 5:10,
Revelation 22:1-5)
Tony Mariot Two Coins for The Boatman 2 Page ! of !2 12
3. PUNISHMENT
In contrast,
Tartarus was the
deep abyss that was
used as a dungeon
of torment and
suffering for the
wicked and as the
prison for the
Titans. Tartarus
was for people that
blasphemed against
the gods, or were
simply rebellious
and consciously
evil.
In Tartarus, the soul would be punished by being burned in lava, or stretched on racks. Tartarus
as the final place of judgment is akin to the Lake of Fire in Christianity because the Lake of Fire
is the final judgment where all the wicked, fallen Angels, Satan, the Anti Christ, the false Prophet
and the inhabitants of Hell and the physical place of Hell itself are cast in to the Lake after the
final judgment of God. (Revelation 19: 20, 20:9-15, 21:8)
The Asphodel Fields, was a place where ordinary people were sent after death, it is also referred
to as the Fields of Punishment because a section of the fields gave harsher punishments than that
given at the Asphodel fields. The Asphodel Fields were for those whose sins equaled their
goodness, or those who were indecisive in their lives, ones who never took a side, as in
Christianity where Jesus rejects the lukewarm (Revelation 3:15-16). The Fields of Punishment
were for people that had sinned often, but not so much as to be deserving of Tartarus.
This divide between these fields is akin to Paradise and Hell of Christianity, which existed in
proximity with a great gulf dividing them, prior to the resurrection of Christ in Christianity.
(Luke 16:19-31)
DEGREES OF PUNISHMENT AND REWARDS
The aspect of degrees of punishment and rewards in Greek Mythology are also present in
Biblical text.
In the book of Leviticus 20:8-27 God gives Moses rules that would govern the children of Israel.
Cursing your parents, adultery, incest among mothers, sons, fathers and daughters-in-law,
homosexuality, communing with familiar spirits and sex with animals are all punishable by
death.
Other sins like incest with a sister or seeing your sister naked, having sex with a woman during
her menstrual cycle, sex with an aunt, sleeping with your brother’s wife, don’t carry death as a
penalty. This suggest that God Himself sees sin in a manner of degree.
Tony Mariot Two Coins for The Boatman 2 Page ! of !3 12
4. In theology:
• Venial sins are minor sins, white lies, completely forgivable, like telling your kid to say
you’re not at home when you really are, to someone on the phone.
• Unintentional sins are those sins you are not aware of, like borrowing someone’s pen, and
walking off with it absent mindedly.
• Presumptuous sins which are intentional
• Mortal sins which are unto death, bringing judgment on yourself (Galatians 5:16-21; Rev
14:9-10).
In Christianity Jesus spoke of degrees of punishment and rewards: (Matthew 11:22-24, Matt.
10:14-15, Matt. 26:24, Matt 5:12, Luke 6:23, Luke 20:46-47, John 19:11)
TWO COINS FOR THE BOATMAN
In Greek mythology, those who died an honorable death would get a coin referred to as Charon’s
Obol, a Greek coin called an Obolus or they would use a Danake coin from the Persian Empire,
this coin was placed on the eyes, in or on the mouth. These coins were given to Charon to pay for
passage across the Styx.
Tony Mariot Two Coins for The Boatman 2 Page ! of !4 12
5. In the event one could travel back across to
Styx to the world of the living, they would
need the second coin to give Charon for their
return. When a warrior died, like Achilles for
example, two coins were placed on their eyes,
hoping they would return from the dead.
In a trip to the underworld, heroes such as
Hercules, Orpheus, Aeneas, Dante, Dionysus
and Psyche journeyed to the underworld and
returned alive.
This is akin to Christianity’s rapture where the
dead rejoin with their bodies, and more broadly,
go back to heaven and return to earth to witness
Armageddon and participate in the thousand-year
reign with Christ on earth.
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 1 Corinthians
15:51-54, Revelation 19:11-21, 20:3-6)
The souls of those not given a proper
burial or those who were not given
coins on their corpse could not pay
the fee to Charon. These had to
wander the shores of the River Styx
for one hundred years. All the other
dead that wait at the Styx for Charon
would stand near a place where the
wrongly convicted and those
committing suicide had to reside with
no hope of ever crossing the Styx. For
those who could not cross, watching
others cross the Styx is part of their
torment.
Today, any examples of these coins in any denominations are considered some of the most rarest
and valuable grave goods of antiquity. Grave goods are the items buried along with a body.

6. JEWISH TRADITION
Biblical accounts predate Greek mythology, which covers the periods c.1100 BC to 800 BCE.
The Judaic faith starts 1000 years earlier with Abram who lived around 2100 BCE in what is now
modern day Iraq.
As a practical matter, the basis of the
Christian faith starts with Adam and his
sons giving the first sacrifices for the
remission of sins, sacrosanct to the first
prophesy and promise of a savior
Genesis 3:15, but more broadly its
emphasized with the account of Abram,
where the promise of God to the
Israelites begins, through Ismael and
Isaac, the sons of Abraham.
The largest Abrahamic religions are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Christians refer to
Abraham as the father of the faith. Romans 4:11-12, there is an Islamic religious term, Millat
Ibrahim (which means faith of Ibrahim) which suggest that Islam sees itself as having practices
tied to the traditions of Abraham.
Jewish tradition claims descendance from Abraham, they follow his practices as the first of the
three spiritual "fathers" or biblical Patriarchs being: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Abraham is recorded in the Law (first five books of the bible) as the ancestor of the Israelites
through his son Isaac, born to Sarah through a promise made by God in Genesis 17:16. All
variants of Judaism through the early 20th century were founded by Israelite descendants.
Most Christians are considered gentiles or non-Jews, who consider themselves “grafted” into the
family of God, who are the chosen people of God (originally Jews only) under the New
Covenant. The vast majority of Jews are not Messianic Jews, or followers of Christ. (Romans
11:17-24)
In the Islamic tradition Muhammad as an Arab, is descended from Abraham's son Ishmael.
Jewish tradition also equates the descendants of Ishmael as Ishmaelites, with Arabs as the
descendants of Isaac through his son Jacob, who was also later known as Israel, originating the
term Israelites or children of Israel. (Genesis 32:28)
To the Jews, Abraham and his wife Sarah are the first Jews, the founding patriarchs of the
children of Israel. According to Jewish tradition, Abraham was the first post-Flood prophet to
reject idolatry. (Genesis 12:2, Genesis 17:7-8)
Tony Mariot Two Coins for The Boatman 2 Page ! of !6 12
7. Christians view Abraham as a spiritual, as well as physical ancestor of Jesus. For Christians,
Abraham is a spiritual forebear as well as rather than a direct ancestor depending on the
interpretation of the circumcision. (Romans 4:9-12)
If the Abrahamic covenant is reinterpreted so as to be defined by faith in Christ rather than by
any biological descent, or one could view it both by faith as well as a direct ancestor; in any case,
the emphasis is placed on faith being the only requirement for the Abrahamic Covenant to apply.
ABRAHAMS COVENANTS
In Genesis 12 and 15, God grants Abraham land and descendants but does not place any
stipulations (unconditional). By contrast, in Genesis 17 the covenant of the circumcision is
applied (conditional). Circumcision is to be the permanent sign of this everlasting covenant with
Abraham and his male descendants and is known as the “brit-milah”. (Genesis 17:9-14)
Covenants in biblical times
were often sealed by
severing or cutting in half
an animal. The implication
was that the party who
breaks the covenant will
suffer a similar fate as the
animal. The removal of the
foreskin of men
symbolically represents a
sealing of the covenant
with God and men.
Covenants could only be
made with men.
The specific covenant of Abraham was to make Abraham a great nation and to bless him and
make his name great so that he will be a blessing to others, to bless those who bless him and
curse those who curse him and all people on earth would be blessed through Abraham. (Genesis
12:1-3)
To give Abraham's descendants all the land from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates. (Genesis
15:18-21) Later, this land came to be referred to as the Promised Land or the Land of Israel.
The children of Israel were made slaves by the Egyptians and was prophetically spoken to
Abraham hundreds of years in advance. (Genesis 15:13-15) This slavery last for 400 years and
introduces the children of Israel to the perpetual idolatry of the Egyptians.
Tony Mariot Two Coins for The Boatman 2 Page ! of !7 12
8. EGYPT
The Ancient Egyptian's had
complicated polytheistic beliefs,
which is to say they believed in
multiple gods. The afterlife played an
important role in Ancient Egypt, its
belief system is one of the earliest
known in recorded history. When the
body died, parts of its soul and
personality would go to the Kingdom
of the Dead. Heaven or Paradise is
referred to as the Fields of Aaru, or the
Egyptian reed fields.
A concept later adopted by the Romans who at one time referred to Heaven as the field of reeds.
This is often depicted as a person wondering through wheat fields until they see their loved ones,
who then run into each others arms and embrace.
The god Osiris demanded work as restitution in the afterlife for the protection he provided during
ones lifetime, so statuettes were placed in the tombs to serve as substitutes for the deceased.
Arriving at one's reward in the afterlife required a sin-free heart and the ability to recite the
spells, passwords and formulae of the Book of the Dead. After a series of test issued by the gods,
if one survived, you would come to a place called the Hall of Two Truths. The deceased's heart
was weighed against the Shu feather of truth and justice taken from the headdress of the goddess
Ma’at.
Tony Mariot Two Coins for The Boatman 2 Page ! of !8 12
9. If the heart was lighter than the feather, they could pass on into Paradise, but if it were heavier
they would be devoured by the demon Ammit who was known as the devourer or soul-eater.
Ammit was a female demon in ancient Egyptian religion with a body that was part lion, part
hippopotamus and part crocodile—the three largest "man-eating" animals known to ancient
Egyptians.
Egyptians also believed that being mummified and put in a sarcophagus (an ancient Egyptian
"coffin" carved with complex symbols and designs, as well as pictures and hieroglyphs from the
book of the dead) was the only way to have an afterlife. Only if the corpse had been properly
embalmed and entombed in a Mastaba, could the dead live again.
A Mastaba was a flat-roofed rectangular structure that marked a burial place. Mastaba’s were
constructed out of mud-bricks (from the Nile River) or stone. The Book of the Dead was placed
in the tomb with the body as well as food, jewelry, and 'curses'. They sometimes place the book
in the opening of the mouth, like the coins for Charon in Greek mythology.
BOOK OF THE DEAD
The Book of the Dead was written by the priest or scribes of the Pharaoh, the incantations were
designed to hide the sins of the Pharaoh from the gods during a series of test they must pass in
the afterlife. The advent of confession by the Catholic Church is adopted from this exercise.
Tony Mariot Two Coins for The Boatman 2 Page ! of !9 12
10. Although there is no reference to reincarnation in the Talmud or any prior writings, reincarnation
is recognized as being part and parcel of Jewish tradition. Within the Bible itself, the idea of
reincarnation is implied in what Christians call the Rapture, where the spirit and soul rejoins the
body after death and ascends back to Heaven. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 1 Corinthians
15:50-54)
Mainstream Christianity professes belief in the Nicene Creed, Christian eschatology is concerned
with death, an intermediate state, which is the existence between one's death and the resurrection,
Heaven, Hell, the Second Coming of Christ, the resurrection of the dead, a rapture, a tribulation,
the Millennium, end of the world, the last judgment, a new heaven and a new earth, and the
ultimate consummation of all of God's purposes for man.
Eschatological or end times passages are found in many places in the Bible, especially Isaiah,
Daniel, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Matthew 24, Matthew 25, and the Book of Revelation. Although
punishments are part of the Christian concepts of the afterlife, there is also punishment during
ones lifetime for sins as well.
The Book of the Dead is in direct contrast to the view of Christianity in many ways, beyond the
polytheistic view, it suggest that God can be deceived which is a singular distinction of the
Egyptian view of the afterlife. Most Christians deny that entry into Heaven can be earned, rather
it is a gift that is solely God's to give through his unmerited grace and mercy. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
However, not all Christian sects accept this doctrine, creating many controversies on grace, free
will and the idea of predestination espoused by Calvinist. Predestination is the belief that God
decides in advance who will be saved and as a result there is nothing one could do to change the
outcome, however, this is not in accordance with the orthodox Christian theology.
Christianity depicts a sharp distinction, souls receive
salvation from the grace of God through faith in Jesus
Christ of Nazareth, those who accept Him as their
savior will live in Heaven for an interim period, be
rewarded for their work on earth, experience the
rapture, witness Armageddon, experience the
millennium reign of Christ on earth and the final
judgment.
(Salvation- John 3:12-18, Acts 4:10-12, Romans
10:9-13, Rewards-Romans 14:10-12, 2Corinthians
5:10, Rapture-1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 1 Corinthians

11. During the fifth Egyptian dynasty (2494 -
2345 BC) the Egyptian religion identified
itself with the midday sun and the god Ra.
The major religious centre of Ra was a place
called Heliopolis, where Ra was identified
with the local sun-god Amun who was a local
deity of Thebes and later known as Amun-Ra.
He was also seen as the first god and the
originator of the Ennead, a group of nine gods
in Egyptian mythology.
The Ennead consisted of the god Atum, his
children Shu and Tefnut, their children Geb
and Nut and their children Osiris, Isis, Set and
Nephtys. A lot like the Titans and their
children, which came to known as the
Olympians, which is similar to Christianity
where God has a Son in Jesus, only different
in that Jesus is not a god created through any
union of another god. Jesus is a being as with
God and the Holy Spirit having no beginning
and no end, one who exist from the beginning
as God does.
Ra was eventually merged with the god Horus and is depicted with the head of a falcon or a
hawk. He was thought to rule all parts of the created world, the sky, the earth and the
underworld. He was worshipped as the creator god himself and most directly and specifically by
his followers at Heliopolis.
Heliopolis was one of the oldest cities of ancient Egypt, and the capital of Lower Egypt known
as Ta-Mehu which means "land of papyrus." It was divided into twenty districts called nomes,
the first of which was at el-Lisht. Lower Egypt was mostly undeveloped scrubland filled with all
types of plant life. This area is now found at the north-east edge of Cairo.
Tony Mariot Two Coins for The Boatman 2 Page ! of !11 12
12. Ra was thought to travel on
two solar boats called the
“Mandjet” the Boat of
Millions of Years. These
boats took him on his
journey through the sky
and the Duat, which is the
underworld of Egypt.
When Ra traveled in his
sun boat he was
accompanied by a number
of other gods, sometimes
by members of the Ennead.
The Mesektet, or the Night boat, would carry Ra through the underworld and back towards the
east in preparation for his rebirth.
These aspects associated with Ra represented the sun rising as the rebirth and renewal of Ra and
his role as the creator correlates with salvation in Christianity and becoming born again by
accepting Jesus as ones savior, in addition to the advent of the rejoining with ones physical body
in the rapture prior to the tribulation. The resurrection of Christ in a glorified body and reigning
in Heaven with glory is all is akin to the aspect rebirth. Notwithstanding, the rebirth of mankind
in the biblical story of Noah and the flood.
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, Revelation 3:10, Matthew 19:28, Genesis 6:7-17)
There are many merges of Ra with other gods in Egyptian religion, as well as outside Egypt in
Ancient Libya and Nubia. Through these associations he was known as Zeus Ammon and came
to be identified with Zeus in Ancient Greece. All these associations of Ra within the sub cultures
of Egyptians are what give Ra the attribution of the creator God. But none more than when Ra
was in the underworld, there he merged with Osiris, the god of the dead, and through it Ra
became the god of the dead as well. In this regard the similarities of the religious beliefs of the
Egyptians corresponds with the Greeks and the River Styx.
