@avivaloca or Aviva Dunsiger is the first person I Chose to follow. She is a
former elementary teacher of grades kindergarten through second and now teaches
fifth grade. Dunsiger has changed her twitter name from @Grade1 to @avivaloca.
Her tweets are mainly about blogs she has read or about what she is blogging about.
She uses her twitter to communicate with other teachers throughout the school
about upcoming projects within the school. I think the theme of her twitter is to get
major ideas across to people who are most likely interested in education. She post
blogs and videos about interesting ideas that one can use for education. For
example, this tweet about the school garden and how it can promote learning.
I think she is very inspirational and can give great ideas to future and current
educators. Her tweets are very interesting and I would love to continue to follow her
throughout my education experience.
Pernille Ripp, previously a 4th grade teacher who ran the twitter
@4thGrdTeach is now a 5th grade teacher. Her twitter name now, @pernilleripp has
tweets that consist of articles that will help teachers within the classroom. Many of
her tweets are about how to teach well and what will work and what won’t. Some
interesting tweets include articles about opinions on lessons within the classroom
that teachers would enjoy reading. I think her theme for her twitter is to provide
articles that will help educators within their classrooms and give them input on
what works best. I think these articles that she tweets will really help individuals
within her classroom. I know me as an upcoming teacher would most definitely look
back on these articles to gain some knowledge as well as ideas for my future
classroom.
The next person I chose to follow was Chris Wejr, @mrwejr. Chris is an
elementary school principal. Along with being a principal he is very passionate
about assessment, motivation, leadership, and parent engagement. This is all posted
on his about me. Wejr, likes to retweet different educational tweets throughout his
twitter. When he does tweet, Wejr tweets about educational articles and what works
within the classroom. His retweets consist of ideas from other educators that
worked within their classroom or school. I think his main theme of this twitter is to
really just have a successful school. His tweets really show that he cares about his
school and the success of it. Since most of his tweets are ideas for his school and
educational articles, this is the reason on why I think this is his theme. My personal
opinion of Wejr, is that he really is an inspiring individual. Reading his tweets and
articles made me wonder so I would go and read them to see what he was talking
about. As a future teacher, I really think I could relate to his tweets when one day I
have a classroom for myself.
The last educator I chose to follow was George Couros, @gcouros. He is a
division principal and an educational speaker. He travels to different schools to
speak about education. His tweets share his ideas with other followers and
educators. He responds to a lot of peoples tweets and really tries to get his work out
their in the Internet world. For example this is one set of tweets that shows him
sharing. (below) I think his main theme of his twitter account is to really just share
his passion for education. He tends to respond in a positive way to things that
interest him on twitter. Such a children using technology to respond to some art. My
personal opinion of him is that he really seems like a great educator just wanting the
best for students throughout the world. As an educator I can really relate to his
tweets and articles that he post. They get you to think a lot about education.
As a class for this assignment we had to follow the class twitter page,
@CI350class. Harold’s tweets were a mixture of him sharing his bicycle success and
the others were about social media articles. These articles were about how social
media can affect education. This particular tweet is an article that he tweeted about.
I think this article can show educators the real usage behind social media and
education. The main theme of this twitter is multiple things. I think one is for his
personal use. This explains the bike miles tweets. Another theme is to show the
social media aspect in the education. This really shows his passion for social media
and technology within the classroom. Lastly, I think it is a way of communication
between teacher and students. My personal opinion is that it really helps you
communicate with him better and his tweets are very inspirational.
