WHAT IS TABLEAU?
Tableau is an easy to use business intelligence software. It makes data visualization, data analytics,
and reporting as easy as dragging and dropping. Anyone can learn to use Tableau without having
a prior programming experience. Tableau can combine data from various data sources such as
spreadsheets, databases, cloud data, and even big data- all into one program to perform dynamic
analysis.
WHY TABLEAU?
Whether it’s small or large, profitable or non-profit, every organization needs to analyze their
data for optimal decision making. Analyzing data has never been easier with traditional business
intelligence tools.
Here are some of the advantages of using Tableau over the traditional BI tools:
Traditional Method Tableau
Requires specific programming skills No programming skills required
Focused on only one type of database Combines different types of database
spreadsheets, databases, cloud data, and even
big data such as Hadoop
Time consuming Time saving
Decision makers have to ask the IT people to
retrieve any information from the database
Decision makers can directly use the
dashboard to retrieve any information from
the database
Largely depends on Query languages Query is done behind the scene
Combining different types of database is
difficult
Different types of databases can be
combined easily
Not every business intelligence tool offers
interactive dashboard
Interactive dashboard is easy to build and it
makes data visualization quick and efficient
Comparatively expensive Comparatively affordable
Mostly designed for large businesses Perfect BI solution for small, medium, and
large businesses, and even for non-profits
Tableau is the next generation’s business intelligence software that brings traditional complex
analytics to the end user in a desktop environment with dynamic and faster performance.
CONNECTING TO EXCEL FILE
There are many ways to connect to data as you can see on left side.
Navigate to the bottom and click on Sample-Superstore as shown here.
This is data that came with your installation of Tableau.
Now you are in the data connection window, It looks somewhat like the following-
Notice there are three sheets in this file-
Orders, People, and Returns. You can simply drag
the table you want. If you drag more than one
table, Tableau automatically creates the join
between the tables.
CREATING CHARTS
Creating charts based on the data we connected is easy. At the bottom of the page, Click on a
sheet (sheet 1) and we will see the following screen:
Tableau automatically
separates the data into
Dimensions and Measures.
Dimensions are the
categorical fields. These
fields will create labels in the
chart. Measures are the
quantitative fields. These are
the numbers we want to
analyze. They create axis in
the chart.
After adding Order Date, Category, and Sales, the chart looks li ...

This is not your everyday data talk.
Through working deep inside the fastest growing SaaS startups in our space, we’ve studied the patterns, methods, and models for driving outsized results. The one common thread? How they use their data.
(How else would you grow from one marketer through to a $60M+ Series B just 12 months later?)
How do they make their data accessible, draw the right insights, set effective goals, prioritise and optimise processes, and automate ALL the (right) things.
So brace yourselves: we’re going to be navigating through AI, automation, “moving the needle”, and a minefield of other buzzwords to try to make sense of using your data for growth. But you’ll leave this talk with a simple framework and set of questions you can take and use right away.

This document outlines five steps for creating visually persuasive dashboards:
1. Identify key metrics that are imperative to the dashboard's goals.
2. Develop a layout that guides users through the data by grouping related metrics and placing important ones in prominent areas.
3. Provide comparisons and trends for all key performance indicators to give context to the metrics.
4. Design charts and visualizations that are easy to interpret while removing non-essential embellishments.
5. Drive user engagement by allowing interactive exploration of the data through filters and the ability to drill down into details.

BA is used to gain insights that inform business decisions and can be used to automate and optimize business processes. Data-driven companies treat their data as a corporate asset and leverage it for a competitive advantage. Successful business analytics depends on data quality, skilled analysts who understand the technologies and the business, and an organizational commitment to data-driven decision-making.
Business analytics examples
Business analytics techniques break down into two main areas. The first is basic business intelligence. This involves examining historical data to get a sense of how a business department, team or staff member performed over a particular time. This is a mature practice that most enterprises are fairly accomplished at using.
The art technique of data visualizationUday Kothari
Decision making based on information has been the single most important objective of a data warehousing or big data pursuit. No matter how big, fast and varied data are generated and processed; decision makers are only concerned with the consumption of its end result – data visualization.
Data visualization simply means representing data in a visually appealing manner to enable understanding of the context in which we operate. Data visualization is a “moment of truth” that stems from a data management initiative. It is a very linear process of decision making; and hence, critical to its success. However, data visualizations also possess the potential to put an end to such initiatives; especially, when they are either heavily biased on just the design or contain information overload.
This webinar on the art and technique of data visualization focuses sharply on the one thing that matters most to qualify for effective data visualization: the truth that comes out from data. We have facilitated the discussion with the help of our 3D framework: Design, Discovery & Data.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

As a CIO, you are responsible for addressing a wide variety of competing demands of many different stakeholders.
Stakeholders can be difficult to identify; it is often these hidden stakeholders that can unexpectedly derail your agenda.
Understanding which of your stakeholders are most important and determining the best way to address the needs of each one can be complex and time consuming.
This document summarizes common analytic mistakes made in business intelligence projects. It discusses mistakes such as not asking the right questions, focusing on past metrics rather than future needs, misunderstanding metrics and their methodology, bottlenecking the value of analytics to the organization, overvaluing data visualization, compromising data through consensus, confusing insight with the ability to take action, and more. The document provides examples and recommendations to avoid these common mistakes in analytics projects.

A SWOT analysis is a strategic planning tool used to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats involved in a project or business venture. Strengths and weaknesses are internal factors, while opportunities and threats come from outside the organization. A cross-functional team performs a SWOT analysis early in project development to assess environmental factors and the organization's situation. Examples of strengths/weaknesses and opportunities/threats are provided. Mind maps can represent semantic connections and be used for note-taking, brainstorming, and summarizing. They provide a visual way to structure a SWOT analysis using the four categories at the root node and fleshing out details in subsequent nodes.
For a dashboard to truly provide value
and actionable insights, dashboard design must be approached leveraging meaningful data and analytics with the stakeholder in mind.

One of the recent developments facing the public administration of corrections is that there has been an increasing call by public officials and the citizenry to privatize the prison systems in the United States. Discuss the following in regard to this:
First, from the perspective of a public-sector correctional administrator, make 2 arguments for keeping the jails in public hands.
Second, from the perspective of a private-sector correctional facility manager make 2 arguments for turning the correctional system over to the private correctional industry.
Briefly discuss the types of challenges that each sector—both public and private—may face.
Are there any legal issues, either criminal or civil, that need to be addressed before privatization can occur?

One of the most important functions (protocols) in a packet-switched.docxjuliennehar
One of the most important functions (protocols) in a packet-switched network is
ROUTING.
An array of routing algorithms have been invented, and many of them implemented.
With respect to routing, the Internet is composed of inter-connected regions called autonomous systems (AS). There are 2 layers of routing in the Internet: interior and exterior routing. An interior routing protocol (IRP) operates within an AS. An exterior routing protocol (ERP) operates between AS's. IRP's and ERP's have evolved. Routing protocols may have serious security vulnerabilities that could potentially be exploited by hackers. CISCO has monopolized the router market, but is facing increasing foreign competition.
Discuss routing in
the Internet and other
networks (algorithms, standards, implementations, quality-of-service, security risks, router trends, etc.) .

One of the very first cases that caught Freud’s attention when he wa.docxjuliennehar
One of the very first cases that caught Freud’s attention when he was starting to develop his psychoanalytic theory was that of Anna O, a patient of fellow psychiatrist Josef Breuer. Although Freud did not directly treat her, he did thoroughly analyze her case as he was fascinated by the fact that her hysteria was “cured” by Breuer. It is her case that he believes was the beginning of the psychoanalytic approach.
Through your analysis of this case, you will not only look deeper into Freud’s psychoanalytic theory but also see how Jung’s neo-psychoanalytic theory compares and contrasts with Freud’s theory.
Review the following:
The Case of Anna O.
One of the first cases that inspired Freud in the development of what would eventually become the Psychoanalytic Theory was the case of Anna O. Anna O. was actually a patient of one of Freud’s colleagues Josef Breuer. Using Breuer’s case notes, Freud was able to analyze the key facts of Anna O’s case.
Anna O. first developed her symptoms while she was taking care of her very ill father with whom she was extremely close. Some of her initial symptoms were loss of appetite to the extent of not eating, weakness, anemia, and development a severe nervous cough. Eventually she developed a severe optic headache and lost the ability to move her head, which then progressed into paralysis of both arms. Her symptoms were not solely physical as she would vacillate between a normal, mental state and a manic-type state in which she would become extremely agitated. There was even a notation of a time for which she hallucinated that the ribbons in her hair were snakes.
Toward the end of her father’s life she stopped speaking her native language of German and instead only spoke in English. A little over a year after she began taking care of her father he passed away. After his passing her symptoms grew to affect her vision, a loss of ability to focus her attention, more extreme hallucinations, and a number of suicidal attempts (Hurst, 1982).
Both Freud and Jung would acknowledge that unconscious processes are at work in this woman's problems. However, they would come to different conclusions about the origin of these problems and the method by which she should be treated.
Research Freud’s and Jung’s theories of personality using your textbook, the Internet, and the Argosy University online library resources. Based on your research, respond to the following:
Compare and contrast Freud's view of the unconscious with Jung's view and apply this case example in your explanations.
On what specific points would they agree and disagree regarding the purpose and manifestation of the unconscious in the case of Anna?
How might they each approach the treatment of Anna? What might be those specific interventions? How might Anna experience these interventions considering her history?

One of the most difficult components of effective .docxjuliennehar
One of the most difficult components of effective management and leadership is uncertainty. Uncertainty exists everywhere in an organization. Each of the four functions of
management (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling) is affected by uncertainties that lie within an organization and its operations. However, many uncertainties that affect an
organization are external to the organization itself. These cannot always be controlled, but they must be planned for when possible, and adapted to when planning is not possible.
This final week contains a culmination of the concepts introduced throughout the course and is designed to help you think about future challenges involved in management.
Review previous resources as needed to prepare for your Signature Assignment.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

WHAT IS TABLEAU?
Tableau is an easy to use business intelligence software. It
makes data visualization, data analytics,
and reporting as easy as dragging and dropping. Anyone can
learn to use Tableau without having
a prior programming experience. Tableau can combine data
from various data sources such as
spreadsheets, databases, cloud data, and even big data- all into
one program to perform dynamic
analysis.
WHY TABLEAU?
Whether it’s small or large, profitable or non-profit, every
organization needs to analyze their
data for optimal decision making. Analyzing data has never
been easier with traditional business
intelligence tools.
2. Here are some of the advantages of using Tableau over the
traditional BI tools:
Traditional Method Tableau
Requires specific programming skills No programming skills
required
Focused on only one type of database Combines different types
of database
spreadsheets, databases, cloud data, and even
big data such as Hadoop
Time consuming Time saving
Decision makers have to ask the IT people to
retrieve any information from the database
Decision makers can directly use the
dashboard to retrieve any information from
the database
Largely depends on Query languages Query is done behind the
scene
Combining different types of database is
difficult
Different types of databases can be
combined easily
Not every business intelligence tool offers
interactive dashboard
Interactive dashboard is easy to build and it
makes data visualization quick and efficient
3. Comparatively expensive Comparatively affordable
Mostly designed for large businesses Perfect BI solution for
small, medium, and
large businesses, and even for non-profits

CONNECTING TO EXCEL FILE
There are many ways to connect to data as you can see on left
side.
Navigate to the bottom and click on Sample-Superstore as
shown here.
This is data that came with your installation of Tableau.
Now you are in the data connection window, It looks somewhat
like the following-
Notice there are three sheets in this file-
Orders, People, and Returns. You can simply drag
the table you want. If you drag more than one
4. table, Tableau automatically creates the join
between the tables.
CREATING CHARTS
Creating charts based on the data we connected is easy. At the
bottom of the page, Click on a
sheet (sheet 1) and we will see the following screen:
Tableau automatically
separates the data into
Dimensions and Measures.
Dimensions are the
categorical fields. These
fields will create labels in the
chart. Measures are the
quantitative fields. These are
the numbers we want to
analyze. They create axis in
the chart.
After adding Order Date, Category, and Sales, the chart looks
like this:
Here I have months in the x-axis, and category and sales are in
y-axis. Different color represents
5. different years.
How do I know what type of chart to use?
Sometimes, it might be confusing what type of chart should be
used for a
specific data. Tableau has an interesting feature called “Show
me”. “Show
me” is the list of the possible charts that can be created using
different
combination of data.
Note: Holding down the Ctrl key and clicking any two or more
combinations of dimension and measure will highlight the
possible chart
in Show Me box.
Below are two more charts created from the same source of
data:
This chart shows global sales and profit filtered by categoties:
This chart shows sales by category:
Adding Filters to the charts:
Adding filters to the charts enable the end user to easily drill
6. down to obtain desired information. To add a filter, simply
right click on the dimension that will be used for filter and
choose “Show quick filter”.
CREATING DASHBOARD
Tableau Dashboard contains all the related features intuitively
interconnected to provide
interactive and real-time dashboard experience for non-
technical users.
To create a dashboard, click “New Dashboard” icon at the
bottom the page.
On the top left corner, dashboard pane will display the available
sheets. In my case, I have sales,
crosstab, global sales and profit, and sales by category. To add
those sheets on the dashboard,
simply drag and drop them on the empty space to the right.
Applying filter on a worksheet:
Sometimes, on a dashboard, a user may want one filter to update
multiple sheets. For example,
“category” filter can be used to filter all the sheets on the
dashboard. To do that, click the drop
down menu of the filter you want to apply. Then choose “Apply
to Worksheets” and “All using
7. this data source” as shown in the figure bellow.
This is how the final dashboard looks like after adding three
sheets and applying filters:

To complete a task, employees must possess the necessary
KSAOs
Knowledge includes facts, figures, and procedures
Skill is the competency to perform a task
Ability refers to physical and mental capacities
Other requirements include conditions under which tasks are
performed
Task Analysis Steps
27. There are four primary steps in a task analysis
Select the jobs to be analyzed
Develop a preliminary list of tasks to be analyzed
Validate the list of tasks with SMEs
After the most important tasks have been identified, identify the
most important KSAOs
Competency Models
Identify the competencies necessary for a given job
Refer to sets of KSAOs that enable employees to perform their
jobs
Provide descriptions of competencies that are common for an
entire occupation, organization, or job
Competencies may vary with business strategy
Why Competency Models?
They identify behaviors needed for effective performance

BA-602 Tableau Activity Version 1.0
Now, take a few moments and play around with the various
charts/graphs that you can use. Note, not
all can be used by all data, those that cannot will be grayed out.
BA-602 Tableau Activity Version 1.0
35. For example, let’s click on the packed bubbles at the bottom
right of “Show Me”, above.
From the size of the bubbles we have some idea of the largest
areas, but let’s make it a little more
readable. From Measures, drag Total to Label
Ahh, we now have numbers!
But let’s make it a little more colorful. Drag Country of Origin
from Dimensions to Color.
BA-602 Tableau Activity Version 1.0
Now that’s more like it!
So, you see, you have a lot of options and a lot of things you
can do with Tableau. Play around! Have
fun!

records” to the Label box.
7. Which class had the most survivors….how many?
Still using the packed bubble chart, show a screenshot of your
work here.
8. Everyone knows the story of the Titanic. We know that many
of the 3rd class passengers were locked into the bottom of the
ship. How many 3rd class passengers died?
Place a horizontal bar chart here that shows how many people
by class did not survive. (Hint, show all the classes in your
chart)
Top 15 Titanic facts that will blow your mind
by Vikas Shukla
The RMS Titanic began its journey on April 10, 1912 and sank
five days later on April 15, 1912
in the North Atlantic Ocean after hitting an iceberg. The luxury
ship was on her maiden voyage
from Southampton to New York City. It was carrying about
2,200 passengers and crew
members. More than 1,500 of them died. It was one of the
deadliest marine disasters of modern
39. times. More than a century later, the facts and stories about
Titanic still fascinate people. Here
are the top 15 Titanic facts that will blow your mind.
Titanic facts you should know
Titanic was the pioneer of luxury sea travel. It measured 269
meters in length. The ship was built
by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. There is a
conspiracy theory that the Titanic never
sank. According to the theory, it was Titanic’s sister ship
Olympic that went down on April 15,
1912, and the whole thing was orchestrated to settle insurance
claims.
Conspiracy theories aside, these are the Titanic facts you should
know:

15- Titanic’s interiors were inspired by the Ritz hotel in
London. Its first-class amenities
included tea gardens, gymnasium, a Parisian cafe, a library,
40. squash court, barbershop, elevators,
smoking room, and a heated swimming pool.
14- The ship’s remains were found 73 years after it sank. The
shipwreck was located 370 miles
off the coast of Newfoundland, 12,500 feet below the surface.
13- Titanic had its own daily newspaper. It was called the
Atlantic Daily Bulletin.
12- First-class passengers had a music book of 352 songs. The
musicians were supposed to know
every single song. The musicians continued to play music for
two hours and five minutes as the
ship kept sinking.
11- Every single engineer stayed behind to run the power to
ensure that the maximum number of
people could escape. All the engineers sank with the ship.
10- All the modern pictures and paintings of the ship show four
funnels. The fourth funnel was
added to beautify the Titanic. Only three were functional.
9- The 1997 movie Titanic shows the women and children were
prioritized. That was indeed
true. The survival rate for women was 74% and for children it
was 52%. In contrast, only 20%
41. men aboard the ship survived.
8- When the boat sank, the ocean water temperature was 28
degrees, which is four degrees below
the freezing point.
7- The first newspapers that reported the Titanic incident
claimed no lives were lost. The first
report with more accurate figures was released two days later.
6- Many experts argue that the incident could have been averted
if there was a binocular in the
observation deck. According to reports, there was a binocular
on the ship, but nobody knew who
had the key to the box in which the binocular was kept.
5- The wealthiest person on the Titanic was John Jacob Astor
IV, who had an estimated net
worth of $85 million – equivalent to more than $2 billion today.
Astor sank with the ship. He
was last seen smoking a cigarette with journalist and author
Jacques Futrelle.
4- The ship was equipped to carry 64 lifeboats, but it carried
only 20 because people thought it
was “unsinkable.” Also, a lifeboat drill was scheduled onboard
Titanic on April 14, 1912. But

Well, there was a true love
story onboard the ship – the story of Macy’s department store

1- Fourteen years before Titanic sank, author Morgan Robertson
wrote a book Futility that
depicted a story terrifyingly similar to that of Titanic. Its story
was about a large unsinkable ship
called the Titan. The ship hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic
and didn’t have enough lifeboats.
More than half of its passengers died. The resemblance between
the Titan and Titanic is
uncanny. The book was published in 1898.
