By providing a simple self-serve submission method, automatic routing, and clear channels of communication the team was able to increase their capacity by 450% (from 100 to 900 monthly requests) and decrease their SLAs by 58% (shaving off 4 days). This document discusses implementing an "Outbox" pattern using model checking to ensure correctness. It describes how traditional two-phase commit is insufficient to handle anomalies like duplication and reordering. The Outbox approach uses transport and data store transactions along with publishing to address edge cases. Model checking with TLA+ specification language is advocated over just automated tests to model system states and verify properties like no duplicated processing. Several demos are presented to illustrate issues like ghost messages, lost messages, and consistent output.

The cornerstone of the system we will study in this webinar is SignalR, a library that facilitates adding bi-directional communication between the server and the browser over the WebSocket protocol. We will also see how NServiceBus messaging framework can be used in combination with SignalR.
