The latest data show that about one in eight people still lived in extreme poverty, nearly 800 million people suffered from hunger, the births of nearly a quarter of children under 5 had not been recorded, 1.1 billion people were living without electricity, and water scarcity affected more than 2 billion people.
These statistics show how important coordinated global data-generation efforts will be in supplying reliable and timely data for systematic follow-up and progress reviews.
The Goals apply to all societies. Even the wealthiest countries have yet to fully empower women or eliminate discrimination.All nations will need to build the Sustainable Development Goals into their national policies and plans if we are to achieve them.
This first report is a starting point. With collective global action, we can seize the opportunities before us and, together,fulfill the pledge of the 2030 Agenda to leave no one behind.

Preface
The world is facing a situation without precedent: We soon will have more older people than
children and more people at extreme old age than ever before. As both the proportion of older
people and the length of life increase throughout the world, key questions arise. Will population
aging be accompanied by a longer period of good health, a sustained sense of well-being, and
extended periods of social engagement and productivity, or will it be associated with more illness,
disability, and dependency? How will aging affect health care and social costs? Are these futures
inevitable, or can we act to establish a physical and social infrastructure that might foster better
health and wellbeing in older age? How will population aging play out differently for low-income
countries that will age faster than their counterparts have, but before they become industrialized
and wealthy?
This brief report attempts to address some of these questions. Above all, it emphasizes the central
role that health will play moving forward. A better understanding of the changing relationship
between health with age is crucial if we are to create a future that takes full advantage of the
powerful resource inherent in older populations. To do so, nations must develop appropriate
data systems and research capacity to monitor and understand these patterns and relationships,

Summary of status and trends
With only five years remaining to 2015, there are signs of progress in many countries in achieving the
health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In other countries, progress has been limited
because of conflict, poor governance, economic or humanitarian crises, and lack of resources. The
effects of the global food, energy, financial and economic crises on health are still unfolding, and action
is needed to protect the health spending of governments and donors alike.
Undernutrition is an underlying cause in about one third of all child deaths. Over the past year,
rising food prices coupled with falling incomes have increased the risk of malnutrition, especially
among children. Although the percentage of children under 5 years of age who are underweight
(compared to the WHO Child Growth Standards3) declined globally from 25% in 1990 to 18% in
2005, subsequent progress has been uneven. In some countries, the prevalence of undernutrition has
increased, and worldwide stunted growth still affected about 186 million children under 5 years of age
in 2005.
Globally, child mortality continues to fall. In 2008, the total annual number of deaths in children
under 5 years old fell to 8.8 million – down by 30% from the 12.4 million estimated in 1990.
Mortality in children under 5 years old in 2008 was estimated at 65 per 1000 live births, which is
a 27% reduction from 90 per 1000 live births in 1990 (Figure 1). Recent encouraging trends also
indicate an acceleration of the rate of decline in all regions since 2000 (Table 1).

Despite these encouraging trends, regional and national averages mask considerable inequities.
The greatest reductions in child mortality have been recorded among the wealthiest households and
in urban areas. Concerted efforts will be needed to achieve the MDG target of a 67% reduction from
1990 levels by the year 2015, especially in countries facing economic crises or conflicts. Low-income
countries would need to increase their annual average rate of decline from 1.9% to 10.9% in order to

Preface
The world is facing a situation without precedent: We soon will have more older people than
children and more people at extreme old age than ever before. As both the proportion of older
people and the length of life increase throughout the world, key questions arise. Will population
aging be accompanied by a longer period of good health, a sustained sense of well-being, and
extended periods of social engagement and productivity, or will it be associated with more illness,
disability, and dependency? How will aging affect health care and social costs? Are these futures
inevitable, or can we act to establish a physical and social infrastructure that might foster better
health and wellbeing in older age? How will population aging play out differently for low-income
countries that will age faster than their counterparts have, but before they become industrialized
and wealthy?
This brief report attempts to address some of these questions. Above all, it emphasizes the central
role that health will play moving forward. A better understanding of the changing relationship
between health with age is crucial if we are to create a future that takes full advantage of the
powerful resource inherent in older populations. To do so, nations must develop appropriate
data systems and research capacity to monitor and understand these patterns and relationships,

well-being. And research needs to be better coordinated if we are to discover the most cost-effective
ways to maintain healthful life styles and everyday functioning in countries at different stages of

Managing population aging also requires building needed infrastructure and institutions as soon as

Demographic transition and its relation to NCD

Summary of status and trends
With only five years remaining to 2015, there are signs of progress in many countries in achieving the
health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In other countries, progress has been limited
because of conflict, poor governance, economic or humanitarian crises, and lack of resources. The
effects of the global food, energy, financial and economic crises on health are still unfolding, and action
is needed to protect the health spending of governments and donors alike.
Undernutrition is an underlying cause in about one third of all child deaths. Over the past year,
rising food prices coupled with falling incomes have increased the risk of malnutrition, especially
among children. Although the percentage of children under 5 years of age who are underweight
(compared to the WHO Child Growth Standards3) declined globally from 25% in 1990 to 18% in
2005, subsequent progress has been uneven. In some countries, the prevalence of undernutrition has
increased, and worldwide stunted growth still affected about 186 million children under 5 years of age
in 2005.
Globally, child mortality continues to fall. In 2008, the total annual number of deaths in children
under 5 years old fell to 8.8 million – down by 30% from the 12.4 million estimated in 1990.
Mortality in children under 5 years old in 2008 was estimated at 65 per 1000 live births, which is
a 27% reduction from 90 per 1000 live births in 1990 (Figure 1). Recent encouraging trends also
indicate an acceleration of the rate of decline in all regions since 2000 (Table 1).

Despite these encouraging trends, regional and national averages mask considerable inequities.
The greatest reductions in child mortality have been recorded among the wealthiest households and
in urban areas. Concerted efforts will be needed to achieve the MDG target of a 67% reduction from
1990 levels by the year 2015, especially in countries facing economic crises or conflicts. Low-income
countries would need to increase their annual average rate of decline from 1.9% to 10.9% in order to

In Palestine in 2022, there were 14,450 road incidents that resulted in 126 deaths and over 10,000 injuries. The mortality rate from traffic accidents in Palestine is close to the European average, and the country is working to implement advanced traffic management systems and improve infrastructure to increase road safety. Ensuring universal access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services is also a priority in Palestine, with efforts focused on reducing adolescent birth rates and increasing access to modern family planning methods. While healthcare coverage in Palestine is high, continued work is needed to strengthen environmental health and protect communities from air, water, and soil pollution.

This is not an alarming statistic, considering that it places Turkmenistan above several developing countries and close to industrialized ones. Life expectancy at birth 145/194. Assuming improvements in healthcare and living conditions, life expectancy may rise, contributing to an aging population. The leading causes of death in Turkmenistan is diabetes and heart problems. - 6. FUTURE PROJECTIONS Population ages 65 and above 130/193. This is another fact that shows us that Turkmenistan's society pyramid is described as expansive, showing that the elders are a minority. The United Nations Development Programme has a project that is sustaining quality health services for the people of Turkmenistan through procurement of medical products for the ministry of health and medical industry of Turkmenistan. Is well noted that the Programme will improve funding of the pharmaceutical provisions for the cancer, diabetes, viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, hemophilia and other patients.

- 10. COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS In different parts of the world, the way populations are aging can look pretty different. In many developed countries, for example, you often see people being older on average and having fewer kids. This is because of a bunch of reasons like better healthcare, more family planning options, and a general move towards having smaller families. Also, if you look at the average lifespan worldwide, it's usually longer than what you'd see in Turkmenistan, especially in the more developed areas.
