This document discusses several older air conditioning suction control systems used by Chrysler, GM, and Ford from the 1960s through the early 1980s. The Chrysler system used from 1961-1982 maintained a low side pressure of 22-31 psi. GM's pilot operated absolute suction throttling system from 1966-1979 kept an evaporator pressure of 28-32 psi. Ford employed a suction throttle valve system from 1972-1981 and a combo valve that both maintained a low side pressure of 28-32 psi and were used from the 1970s through mid-1980s. GM also utilized a valve in receiver system from 1973-1979 that operated at 28-32 psi low side pressure.
