This document discusses a new device called Trustfusion that can assess the quality of stored blood non-invasively in 1-2 minutes. Nowadays the decision on transfusion is
taken on the basis of the storage period.
Recent studies have shown that some of the
blood to the end of the storage is not
suitable for use because blood cells
deteriorate. This leads to various side
effects, including death.

The device, implementing the method consists of
two modules. One of them establishes a flow of
blood cells, constantly changing its direction, and
other determines blood quality on measurements of
the light transmission in these conditions.
Use scenario: the bag is placed in a device, device
automatically tests blood inside bag. Indicator
lights up (green — all OK, red — blood spoiled).
