I designed my presentation around 3 main question that needed an answer: What, Why, How.
Frank is a tool for UI automation testing of iOS and Mac apps. it also includes a neat app inspector, called Symbiote.
He is quite old in the market, has been around for 2 years or so. When it was launched Frank extended KIF, another framework with the same purpose. Meanwhile Apple made their framework, PublicAutomation, available for free, so Pete Hodgson (the creator of Frank) switched to it. Basically with Frank, you get the power of Apple and the possibility to adapt it to your needs.
Alternatives to Frank:
UIAutomation – restrictive (included in Instruments from Xcode)
KIF – was extended by Frank
Calabash - for full power you must use Xamarin, which is not free
EggPlant – accesses your application over remote control, which is pretty neat, but unfortunately is not free.
Appium – a good option too, especially if you have a cross platform application

The network – evolved by technology – is changing the user's behaviour and that will affect the future of information services. Many envision a possible leading role for libraries in collaboration and community building services.
Users are not only heavily using new tools, but are also creating and shaping their own preferred tools.
Today's students are incorporating Web 2.0 skills in daily life, in their social and learning environments.
Tomorrow's research staff will expect to be able to use their preferred tools and resources within their work environment.

Many factors influence decision-making when producing websites, applications, and apps. In many cases, decision-making is focused on addressing the values of the producer, and the most important factor is overlooked: the consumer. People are loyal to products and services that satisfy their needs and provide content and features that they value. Providing a good user experience benefits both consumer and producer.
In this session we will look at user experience broadly, and then through the lens of accessibility, as a way of bringing into focus the value of providing accessible and enjoyable user experiences.

Users of large scale cultural heritage virtual environments are exposed to information overload due to the plethora of represented entities of interest and the amount of the relevant information. Additional to the previous, users are exposed to route planning problems in which time should be considered as an important constraint. In this paper, the aim is to deal with these issues by providing users with constrained interest-based tour recommendations. A recommendation model is proposed to deal with the users information overload issue. A route planning algorithm supplied with recommendations by the recommendation model is designed to provide tour recommendations. The recommendation model as well as the route planning algorithm results are tested for various cases giving interesting outcomes. The recommendation model and the route planning algorithm are both integrated into the virtual environment and interoperating with navigation assistance methods to provide effective tour guide services applicable in virtual and physical environments.

This presentation describes Pratt Institute's innovative, multi-faceted educational program aimed at preparing students for careers as UX professionals, either outside or within LIS-focused organizations, through blending traditional classroom learning with extracurricular opportunities that provide students with a mix of theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
