Leveraging and interpreting library assessment data 4 17 2016Elizabeth Brown
Assessment data can be collected from a multitude of sources from within and outside your library. It’s not just about the size of collections, or number of reference transactions, or hours a library is open. This presentation will review some of the key places assessment information can be gathered and provide strategies to creatively think about assessment data collection for your library.

Scientometric Mapping of Library and Information Science in Web of Science 8638812142
This is a presentation on Scientometric Study done in Library and Information Science Research as per the data downloaded from Web of Science. This is a presentation of MPhil dissertation submitted to Department of Library and Information Science, Mizoram University under Prof SN Singh.
This presentation was provided by Jan Fransen of the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities during the NISO virtual conference, Research Information Systems: The Connections Enabling Collaboration, held on August 16, 2017.
The Road from Millennium to Alma: Two Tracks, One DestinationNASIG
In 2016, two academic libraries migrated from Innovative Interface’s Millennium to Ex Libris’ Alma. Though both libraries came from a similar starting point in terms of library software, their migration environments were quite different: Colorado State University’s migration involved two campuses, CSU Fort Collins and CSU Pueblo, while Central Connecticut State University migrated with a newly-formed consortium comprised of 18 institutions. Even though both libraries share the same proprietary ILS, the environmental differences between the two libraries shape their experiences throughout the migration process. The presenters will share their libraries’ unique experiences while also addressing commonalities germane to the ILS migration process such as pre-migration data clean up, data migration, training, and designing workflows. Particular attention will be paid to the data migration process that details the extraction process along with coordinating these efforts. Because Alma is designed on a different concept than III’s Millennium, the redesign of workflows is critical prior to the final cutover to the new system. In light of this, the presenters will address the engagement of staff during these discussions along with their professional growth. In addition to explaining the technical aspects of this migration, they will also delve beneath the surface of the intellectual labor required for implementation and examine the psychological impact on all constituents who will use the new system for their daily work.

Data in The Classroom: It's Not Just for Nerds Anymore!ICPSR
These slides provide resources for real, interactive, and fun data faculty can bring into the classroom for great discussions and paper assignments designed to get students thinking critically. You don't need to be a numbers guru to do it! These slides also emphasize the value of data and numbers to students in getting great jobs and in understanding the world around them.
CyberLeninka as a part of Russian Open science infrastructureMikhail Sergeev
The issue of scientific knowledge openness is urgent worldwide, but for Russia it is particularly crucial because of the inaccessibility of the most cited academic journals there. Solution for this issue is proposed by means of the gold-oriented method which assumes placing scientific papers of traditional academic journals in open access and ensuring their visibility on the Internet. This method is implemented in the project of open science repository called as CyberLeninka.

Effect of the Year 2012 Flooding On Residential Properties Rental Value in Ka...iosrjce
One of the natural factors to be considered in determining property rental values is flood. Year 2012
flood was noticeable in many countries due to its severance with Nigeria not left out most especially Kaduna
metropolis. This paper aims at assessing the effect of this year’s flood on residential property values. Data were
sourced through both primary and secondary means. Systematic random sampling was used as the affected
areas list was made available by Kaduna State Agricultural Development Project. Findings revealed low rental
values in both years 2012 and 2013 but rose again due to some militating measures taken by the government
and developers. In addition, the cause was traced to the rivers’ setback encroachment and dumping of refuse
into the rivers. Recommendations made include putting in place permanent measures to check flood’s
reoccurrence in the metropolis, availability of flood plain area map and data on flood occurrence to the public
and enforcement of development control on developers

In the last decade, several Scientific Knowledge Graphs (SKG) were released, representing scientific knowledge in a structured, interlinked, and semantically rich manner. But, what kind of information they describe? How they have been built? What can we do with them? In this lecture, I will first provide an overview of well-known SKGs, like Microsoft Academic Graph, Dimensions, and others. Then, I will present the Academia/Industry DynAmics (AIDA) Knowledge Graph, which describes 21M publications and 8M patents according to i) the research topics drawn from the Computer Science Ontology, ii) the type of the author's affiliations (e.g, academia, industry), and iii) 66 industrial sectors (e.g., automotive, financial, energy, electronics) from the Industrial Sectors Ontology (INDUSO). Finally, I will showcase a number of tools and approaches using such SKGs, supporting researchers, companies, and policymakers in making sense of research dynamics.

This presentation, created by Syed Faiz ul Hassan, explores the profound influence of media on public perception and behavior. It delves into the evolution of media from oral traditions to modern digital and social media platforms. Key topics include the role of media in information propagation, socialization, crisis awareness, globalization, and education. The presentation also examines media influence through agenda setting, propaganda, and manipulative techniques used by advertisers and marketers. Furthermore, it highlights the impact of surveillance enabled by media technologies on personal behavior and preferences. Through this comprehensive overview, the presentation aims to shed light on how media shapes collective consciousness and public opinion.
