The mercies of God
Romans 12:1
The mercies of God
• Titus 3:4-7 But when the kindness and the love of
God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by
works of righteousness which we have done, but
according to His mercy He saved us, through the
washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy
Spirit,
• whom He poured out on us abundantly through
Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified
by His grace we should become heirs according to
the hope of eternal life.
The mercies of God
★ Micah 6:8 He has told
you, O man, what is
good; And what does
the Lord require of
you But to do justice,
to love kindness, And
to walk humbly with
your God
★ 2 Timothy 1:9
★ Galatians 1:1-4
The purpose of mercies
• Romans 2:3-4 But do you suppose this, O
man, when you pass judgment on those who
practice such things and do the same yourself,
that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do
you think lightly of the riches of His kindness
and tolerance and patience, not knowing that
the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
Don’t be conformed
Romans 12:2
Change the way we view the world
• Philemon 23-24 Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ
Jesus, greets you, 24 as do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas,
Luke, my fellow laborers.
• Colossians 4:14 Luke, the beloved physician, sends you
his greetings, and also Demas.
• 2 Timothy 4:9-11 Make every effort to come to me soon;
for Demas, having loved this present world, has deserted
me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to
Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me. Pick up
Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for
service.
Change the way we view the
world
• 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world nor the things in
the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the
Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust
of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful
pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the
world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but
the one who does the will of God lives forever.
• The values of human societies should not define
believers. Instead, they should be shaped by Jesus’
values.
How to not be conformed?
Daniel 1
Make up your mind!
• Daniel 1
• Joshua 24:14-25
Make up your mind now
• 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 We then, as workers
together with Him also plead with you not to
receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For He says:
“In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in
the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold,
now is the accepted time; behold, now is the
day of salvation.
