HAVENSPRING CHURCH
Focus and goals
HAVENSPRING CHURCH
What is our primary focus?
•Is it fellowship?
•Is it doctrine?
•Is it church growth?
•Is it spiritual strengthening?
These can me summed up in the great
commandments:
Matthew 22: 37-39
“Love the Lord your God with all
your heart, with all your soul, and
with all your mind. This is the first
and greatest commandment. The
second is like it: love your neighbor
as yourself,”
How then do we love God
with all our heart, with all our
soul, and with all our mind?
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and
his righteousness,
To be part of the kingdom you must
be subject to the King,You must
follow Him in all obedience
Surrendering your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord
and Savior.
Loving God means receiving cleansing inside first
which was accomplished when:
Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth,
"Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
John3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave
his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life.
Psalm 103:12
As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our
transgressions from us.
Yet to all who did receive him, to
those who believed in his
name, he gave the right to
become children of God
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no
longer I who live, but Christ who lives in
me. And the life I now live in the flesh I
live by faith in the Son of God, who loved
me and gave himself for me.
Do we stop there?
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“do you not know that your body is a
temple of the Holy Spirit within you,
whom you have from God?You are not
your own, for you were bought with a
price. So glorify God in your body.
You now belong in God’s
kingdom and the Holy Spirit
lives in you.
If the Holy Spirit indeed lives
in you…
Then what should manifest in
your life?
Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-
control.”
How do you sustain this?
1.Prayer
2.Daily devotion. Reading the Bible.
3.Worship
4.Repentance
5.Know God’s word. Memorize Bible verses
6.Praise
7.Thanksgiving
“Love the Lord your God
with all your heart, with all
your soul, and with all your
mind. This is the first and
greatest commandment.
The second is like it: love
your neighbor as
yourself,”
How do we fulfill the
second?
Make them like you. Duplicate
yourself. Encourage them to love
God with all their heart, with all their
soul, and with all their mind.
Demonstrate the fruit of
the Spirit in you. Witness,
share the gospel.
Matthew 28:19-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All
authority in heaven and on earth has been
given to me. 19 Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to
obey everything I have commanded you.
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the
Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will
be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in
all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends
of the earth.”
Do you believe that , that same authority
that has been given to Jesus Christ has
been imparted to us when we sought Him
and accepted Him as our Lord and
Savior? That SAME anointing and power
has been given to us because the Holy
Spirit lives in us?
What should we do with that
authority, that power, that anointing
then…
We exercise it… we use it to disciple all
nations
We use it to share the gospel and share
this good news to every Filipino we
meet
Now that should be everybody who love
God should do..
Be concerned about what fate awaits
those who miss the grace of God
because we failed to share the gospel to
them and fulfill the Great Commission.
How many more Filipino unbelievers
will perish without the benefit of the
Gospel, because we did not do
anything, both individually and
corporately.
How many more Louies and Aidas
and other Filipinos who are here
with us in Tucson, our “Jerusalem”
have to die without at least the
Word of God being shared to them?
I am throwing that question and
challenge to everybody tonight.
Pray about it.
Mediate on it.
Act on it!
I ask the question again:
What is our focus and what
is our goal?
“Love the Lord your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, and with all
your mind. This is the first and
greatest commandment. The second
is like it: love your neighbor as
yourself,” – Matthew 22:37-39
