Transactional Analysis
 Transactional Analysis is an analytical
model of communication in which a person
puts himself in the position of a different
psychology (Eric Berne’s, Stuart sundeen,
1995)
Purpose :
 Transactional analysis aims to examine in
depth the process of transaction :
a. who is involved in it
b. what messages are exchanged
Components of transactional
analysis
1. Structural Analysis
2. Transaction Analysis
3. Game Analysis
4. Script Analysis
Structure Analysis
 Analyzing the personality of the
person, the thoughts, feelings, and
behavior.
 Basic attitude Ego
Refers to :
a. The attitude of the parents (Parents
=P)
b. The attitude of adults (Adults = A)
c. Ego Child (Child=C)
Transaction Analysis
Transaction Analysis divided into 3 :
a. Transaction draw (Complementary)
b. Transactions cross
c. Transaction veiled

Occur if the message recipient to
respond in accordance with the ego
state expected by the sender of the
message.
Example : The client behaves as a
child, Nurses are expected to act as a
