The Trade Marks Registry (TMR) is responsible for registering trademarks in Pakistan. It has eight examination sections that review applications for compliance with trademark law. Accepted applications are published in the Trade Marks Journal and a two month opposition period is allowed. Successful applications are granted registration upon payment of fees. The TMR also handles post-registration issues like renewals, amendments and appeals. It aims to promote awareness of intellectual property rights and maintains various sections like legal, IT, and administration to support its work.
